- Akeem Ojuko showcases his flavoured peanut butter brand, 'The Wild Peanut', seeking a £50k investment in return for a 20% equity stake. Though Mr. Ojuko received high praise for his drive and passion, Akeem was quizzed by The Dragons on his numbers and his silence says it all...
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

@@Fif0l A couple classes of Chemistry would let you know that's not always how it works, mate!
@@BroArmyCommander Do enlighten me.
I'll say I didn't know that because he didn't know that, as after Deborah poured out the entire jar he was speechless.
@bitterman co To be fair, that is in Australia; not a concept that was commonly used in Britain - and still isn't in comparison to standard PB. It's not far-fetched that she'd be disconcerted by the fact that the product - typically known to be a very thick substance in *almost all* other cases of commercial products - is running thinner than honey throughout.
Putting the fact that it's a natural occurrence aside, as an investor, you have to weigh out how the customer base is going to receive your product, and how much scale it has behind it. By all accounts, runny PB is still much more of a niche market in Britain than the standard thicker type, and most people still consider PB to be thick straight from the jar. She was ignorant, true, but her ignorance wasn't baffling by any degree; it was just standard for someone who hadnt been exposed to a particular product before.

Don’t buy too much into the “not knowing your numbers” schtick. Dragons Den has a retarded rule where entrepreneurs aren’t allowed to bring a copy of their numbers in so they can have embarrassing moments like this for TV. In a real pitch people would bring in their balance sheets to make sure they are 100% correct in everything they’re saying. This is just TV.

Deborah, who I like, is being a bit much here pouring out the product the way she does.
The quality of the product you're being asked to invest in is a genuine concern. Peanut Butter isn't supposed to look and behave like baby diarrhea. And no, stirring it would not have helped, It wasn't a separation issue since (as she pointed out) the entire thing ran out and not just the oil.

SpadeDraco well natural peanut butter behaves and looks exactly like it did on this show. The ingredients that make most peanut butters creamy and thick are super unhealthy. You have a lot to learn of nut butters, grasshopper.

No the company went bust. All value was wiped off the face of earth. He is no longer with any company, his entrepreneur dream was a crack dream. Should've taken the economic course more seriously. He didn't leave, he was forced to drop out.
@@akashp01 Yeah, he lost 80% of his capital in a couple of years, has no deals to show for it, and didn't know any of his numbers that could convince the dragons. He could be a great face for a brand, or a lead of sales and with a bit of coaching could be the person that pitches this to big retailers.

The Wild Peanut has come leaps and bounds over the past 18 months. Quite simply, 18 months ago I was £1,000 in debt (after I left a previous business to follow my passion to do this), with literally just an idea to create a peanut butter brand and not an idea of how the food industry works to having sold over 10,000 jars, launched in Harvey Nichols and Holland & Barrett nationwide and on final stage terms with two of the major supermarkets.
I also have expanded the team, having taken on six interns, as well as gaining investment with a global food company to help the growth.
