    I've been wearing a green/blue and a red/blue Tattersall shirt for years; and I never knew that pattern had a name and a history. Thank you! I rock them with either a solid navy or red knit tie, or a burgundy/blue or green/blue Repp tie.

    If you want to irritate a kilt maker, order a shepherds check kilt.
    They are made but i have heard the check gives a bit of a tv static effect on the eyes while making it.
    Also you get less guidance when pleating it.
    Wierdly, tattersall shirts, window pane tweeds etc works with tartan kilts as does Argyle hose ( socks ).
    So a tweed jacket and vest with a window pane pattern, tartan kilt would be rather traditional and give a rustic , casual impression.
    Kilt and Argyle hose can also be combined in formal wear with the black barathea Prince Charles jacket, three button black vest, dress sporran, white shirt and black bow tie.
    So can tartan trews, so tartan trousers for formal wear.
    It sounds bold but you DO look both smart, dapper and formal.
    Sorry for the lenghty Scottish thing.
    I just have a passion for Highland wear as well as classic men’s wear….and i don’t want to come off as square or off the grid. *Drumroll*
    Great and informative video as always! 👍🎩❤️

    I like the red and blue Tattersall pattern for a shirt, so it can look very patriotic with American colors without looking like you're wearing a flag.

    • @1Thunderfire
      @1Thunderfire Před 3 lety

      This would likely be good for the UK too plus incorporating white somewhere instead of those god-awful Union Jack suits I've seen old men on cruise ships wear for British Night and I'm not even patriotic in any way, shape or form.

      @krunoslavkovacec1842 Před 4 lety +2

      They did a video all about matching your shirts and ties to the color of your suit jacket/suit. I would say that, since this is quite a neutral collored jacket, you can go with white, beige or even pastel tones and patterns. Just dont go over the top and get a pattern similar to the windowpane on the jacket.

  • @jeffhreid
    @jeffhreid Před rokem

    Good video. Of note however, at 16:14 you show a checked waistcoat as a good look but I’ll point out a couple things that aren’t quite right. First , the gentleman is wearing a belt with the vest, that isn’t done, secondly the vest is too short since we can see the belt and bit of the tie. It may be more correct to say the trousers are too low, a high waisted pair cut for braces would work much better. Overall I’d give this look an X not a “check” (excuse the pun). Preston’s jacket is quite nice by the way.

    Wrong, plaid is a specific garment. The tartan garment that matches a mans kilt, but worn attached to the shoulder, draping down the back, for formal evening occasions.

    Very nice video, Mr. Schuelter. Please ,,,,may we dispense with the trite and offensive phrase.." these days" e.g. your reference to Gun Check...!!?? Gun Club check is Black, Rust, Gold and Green, period...and Scotland is the final authority.. PLEASE stop your patheric attempt at Americanizing the term. PLEASE ! Style is timeless , as you and Mr. Schneider should know well.!!!! Some of us gentlemen aren't interested in the attempt to destroy the original significances. One would not expect a response from either you or Mr. Raphael, as you never reply to anything. Thank you.
