Do we need it? No. Do I want to buy every Osborne Benchmade they make? Yes, yes I do.
If they made an s45vn blade im buying on the spot lmfao.
I'm a huge fan of the 945. Sold off my collection after buying this knife if that gives you an idea of how much I like it.
Why did they make this knife? Because Benchmade saw how many Para 3s Spyderco was selling.
My thought exactly.
No, because they saw how many mini bugouts and mini grips they were selling and the massive 940 cult they already have. Its a no brainer.
So happy to see some new FSB’s.
Benchmade knows we love smaller Benchmades, larger Benchmades, and everything in between. Gotta catch 'em all!
No
I bought a 940-2 last August 19 and it was because of a couple of 940 videos of yours that I watched. The Blade HQ exclusive and the video of the standard version. You're right. I love the 940. In spite of the relatively thick edge, it really cuts okay and I love the action. I'm waiting for another one to be available. I love it so much I'm thinking of getting a 945.
Basically mind-boggling absolutely no thought of showing a side by side comparison entered the equation here!😳 Lol
The anxiety & anticipation of seeing the comparison with no crescendo led to momentary rage at the videos end...and for that I forgive you!🙏😂
*comparison with the full size, that is
@@user-cs3hi8zp7p I have a video on my channel comparing the mini and the full size 940. Go check it out.
I think I'm going to like this one (though I've never particularly wanted a normal 940); the blade shape, grind, and size is almost identical to the one found on my skeletal, which I have found to be very functional and enjoyable to use.
great video. its hilarious to see how consistently you see bandaids and cuts on hands when watching reviews lol
yes, if you're a guy like me who drops a knife in his pocket, i've been carrying for 63 years without pocket clips
Thank you for your considered review, it was an excellent video!
Fyi, my most used knives are the rat2, delica4 and para3LW (3" restrictions here.) The lock mechanisms, steels, pricetags and overall aesthetic are different for each knife and when it comes to it, I usually find myself favouring the rat2 - the others are great knives I know, but I still find myself using the rat2 for most everyday tasks. Maybe it's the weight of the liners? 🤷🏻♂️- I look forward to trying a BM 945 one day, thanks to your compelling advice.
Many thanks and best wishes! 😊✌
I actually like this more than the full size one. I bought a clone full size, tad to long for my liking and work I do. This is fantastic,
If you search the Benchmade forums, you'll see a thread that has been begging for this for years. My state doesn't care what blade length I have, and my city is good out to 3.5", but I do confess that I like having a 3" option for carrying under certain circumstances. I pre-ordered my 945. I couldn't wait to get it.
I need to get one of these in hand to see if the ergonomics are any good for me. I love the “idea” of a slightly smaller 940 for my workplace. I work in a rather knife-phobic field. But, we’ll see.
Same. I carry this at work and it's working out well thus far.
That is why i got it. A little less scary to the sheeple. Love it but love the regular 940 more just different carry needs different places!
@@erikjensen6503 that’s why I got a Para 3 to carry to work in place of my PM2. The PM2 didn’t seem overly large to me since I went for a while almost exclusively carrying the Para 3, then the next time picked up my PM2 it looked huge.
Would have been nice to see both side by side. Orherwise nice review. God bless
Excellent review. I have been asking myself the same question. Why? I'll take my chances with the
larger 940
Your really good man, thanks for the info
Right.. a “ solution in search of a problem”..... the 940 is fine as is .... size wise..... selling knives is the name of the game, thanks Rob, for posting this video!
By chance would you be willing to part with that special edition 940. I really really like it.
I just got mine and i like it. A little less scary in the urban world to those sheeple
great knife
Apostle P, do you use edge pros diamond matrix stones? I just bought the set. Can’t wait to use them.
I do... love those stones!
Great video thanks. Great knife. I would only buy a 3 inch or less knife so I can legally Cary in my city. I like the short blade but would rather have it on the big full length handle of its bigger brother for the full grip. I will pass on buying this knife for that reason. I prefer my knives to be 3 inch or less and have a good finger guard and full size handle. Wish that combo was more available but lucky I do have a few that fit this preference of mine.
Its simple, I know I want it.
I feel a upsized 940 would be way better.. but I have big ole bear 🐾
It’s called the 810 contego! Great knife!
@@usmcgrunt02 that is true.. Very similar but bigger..
I would love to see it done in aluminum
Hi I’m from the future here to say that your wish has been granted
I think the issue I see is a lot of people are more concerned with weight and how wide the knife is, making it smaller doesn't really do much and the 940 was already light. There is an argument for the people who want a 940 but because of the 3 inch rule they can't carry a 940.
The 940 feels nimble enough in my hands as it is. Maybe the new mini would be suitable if my hands were the same size as my 7 year old daughters
Some cities in Ca have a 3" or less blade length law.
If you happen to live in such a tyrannical town...perfect reason to relocate. And I'm sure that's not the only way they're tyrannical.
maybe the major cities. But california law doesnt care about blade length as long as its not an auto
Yeah, SF and LA have 3" blade laws. I don't live in either city, but I visit SF every once in a while, and like to have a knife I can legally carry
Good for gymshorts
did need one?-like another hole on the head, just a marketing ploy.......btw rob, the espada xl is coming along fantastically, will send you some pic's when it's finished, haven't had much time lately as my dad recently passed........
Just ordered the 945 clone with this handle and stonewash blade $26.00 , a customer loyal price !
Benchmade is not customer loyal ! And that is why I collect clones !
I would have paid up to $75.00 for one from benchmade just to be loyal but they are not so I am not !
I have recieved knives from benchmade unfinished and with broken springs out of the box ! I have never recieved a clone that was not well finished !
In many cities a blade over 3 inches will land you in trouble with the law. And depending on the officer they will measure it with a metal ruler.
The idea is fine but I prefer a handle more like the svord peasant since my fingers are longer.
Almost half the materials, %100 of the price. lol benchmade's prices are just wild.
They don’t call it the benchmade tax for nothing.
@@usmcgrunt02 I've heard it referred to as the "butterfly tax", and it is in full effect with this knife. There's no way on Earth any G-10/S30V knife should cost as much as it does...and yet I still bought one. 😐
I’m just not a huge fan of the 940. I own a 940-2 that I never ever use ever.
Why is that?
Spencer K I just don’t like cutting through material with it. The blade geometry and the ergos with the scales hurt my hand and get no leverage. I normally opt for one of my two hinderers or one of my two zt’s
@@tallica4life81 thx
And I have been looking for a benchmade, in Asia, but way too expensive here
Got the Jade 940 that I’ll never carry.
Big Men, Mini Women 👄👄
I never ever thought to myself "man I like my 940 but if it only was a bit smaller it would be perfect.". However, it may be a good choice for women and people that can not carry a knife with a blade over 3".
And second
First
And 3rd
I think they made it for women's small hands!🤣
You have to know all those black coatings are not food safe.
No problem. My food is already dead when I cut it.
Only food you're cutting with a 945 would be grapes or licorice sticks.
You 940 fanboys are almost as crazed as the stanley utility knife fanboys. Just want something to open some boxes around the office STANLEY UTILITY. Just want something to fidget with or carry around just in case a need arises STANLEY UTILITY. Just looking for a backup to your main carry stanley utility, A SECOND STANLEY UTILITY.
Mini series of knives are meant for lighter users but I know ill trust the 945 with a more serious task every now and again.
