To the people watching in 2124 - a hundred years ago, I was watching this video before bed on a Sunday night. This video made me smile - and I hope it does the same for you.
I'm 74 and can't really sing any more but I still have their original albums.....brings back so many bittersweet memories of my youth. We'll never see this golden age of great music, hope and great dreams ever again
It's like watching and listening to a 9 minute divine miracle of absolute perfection. Stuff like this does not happen anymore. We lived in a golden age.
Stills the guitar man. Jammed with jimi and slowhand. Nash the English man, singing the high notes in the stratosphere. And Crosby, standing like a stone, the rock in the center with his harmonies. Was lucky to see them 6 times through the years, always a joy to hear....
As one person said, we absolutely lived in a golden age of music! The harmony of CSN (&Y) sooves the soul. I'm 68 now and so thankful to be born at the right time. For the GREATEST MUSIC EVER! Thank God for these guys, and yes, David may you rest in peace. You're in one hell of a rock n roll band now in heaven.
RIP David Crosby, a legend amongst legends. I'm 36 so these guys were a few generations before me. But this was the music I was brought up with. I will forever be grateful to my Dad for this
I can’t stop with this! The best of all their live performances of the magic SUite Judy Blue Eyes. The looks they give each other, Nash hopping all around, Crosby still as stone, til he starts the hand clap at the dizzying end. And well my goodness, Mr. Stills...the vocals lead, free but contained, and the smoke coming from the frets in the bridge. And I don’t care who was a tool to whom. We’re all pretty broken, and walking wounded, and a kind and loving Universe brought these voices together, and wrapped it up like a gift, and gave it to all of us. We are all so deeply flawed; David Crosby offers perhaps the most perfect middle-voice harmony in the history of recorded bands. I thank them all. This just hits the spot, for these perilous times. I’m 63. WE HAD THE BEST MUSIC.
Peggy Deffley Wow! " . . . A kind and loving Universe brought these voices together, and wrapped it up like a gift, and gave it to all of us." That's about the most eloquent comment and description of anything I've ever seen anywhere. I wish they could see this. It's the sort of response real musicians live to hear, and hope to inspire with every performance.
This is the best encapsulation of middle-aged life as a three-body problem. Stills a buttoned-down master. Crosby not sure what we're doing, but amused and engaged. Nash barefoot, yearning, exuberant. Inspiring no matter the time.
I will forever love them. Fly free now, Croz.....This music will live on forever. still, I am so sad. Each time we lose someone like this from this golden era of pure, creative, organic music, it's like losing a piece of one's youth.
Summer 1970. Imagine a whole darkened Montreal Forum packed with excited little ones, closing in on around eleven at night, right after the first few bars of this one, suddenly, all 20,000 of us dead quiet, such silence, literally you could hear the ol' adage, hear a pin drop beside you ... what unbelievable reverence from that stoned youthful lot: not a whistle, not a shout, not a peep, nothing, like you're the only one in the audience. Niel Young was there too: four guitars, four voices, not to happen again. When they finished, we would not let them go. The Forum turned on their lights. But not for us, no one left, we stood and applauded and applauded, until they had to come back on stage and continue with more. David Crosby, gone forever, but in our hearts, he will live on and on.
We lost Jeff Beck and David Crosby the past month, there are no replacements! Watching this I realize how precious it is. An original song arranged by them and performed live with a virtuoso acoustic guitar accompaniment by Stills. I'll not wait until they're dead to thank and praise them for the beauty and inspiration.
No you’re doing it wrong. Make a gmail. Use a card with 2 bucks on it and get CZcams premium fee trial. Do that once a month. Premium for life and pay nothing. Seriously.
Yup, I got their ad too! But at least we can still come here to see them on YT, any time we want,,,,just goes to show ya, nothing is free, not even to watch the videos on YT that's the price of admission to watch them. I guess it's better than having to pay, to watch the videos, as annoyiny as the ads are when they interrupt the video, right in the middle of it. I wish they could just show the ads at the beginning & the end of them. I always just fast forward the ads....
Please remember, this trio did it all with no synthesizers, voice auto-tune, electronic enhancements. This is just music in its purest form. If you can, purchase their self-titled first album, Crosby, Stills & Nash and travel back in time. Or, better yet, if you have just discovered them, buy it and prepare to be changed forever.
I'm 72 years old. This one will never fade. It rises into the stratosphere as other songs fade into the mists of time. I feel so lucky and grateful continuing to pass through this amazing era, from Chuck Berry, The Everly Brothers, and Elvis onward.
One of the best live performances by a rock band I've ever heard. Absolute perfection and a truly remarkable song. What a great acoustic guitar solo as well!
Can't get enough of this song since my high school days in the late 70s !! Great harmony, voicing, & dynamics.. just awesome!! Brings back so many wonderful memories😊😎👍👍🙏
I am 52. My grandma taught me to harmonize to bluegrass music. These men are as important to music theory as The 3 Tenors and Motzart. Helplessly Hoping is a tribute to Musical alliteration
They started in 1968 as Crosby, Stills & Nash, formed from former members of three prominent 1960s groups: The Byrds (David Crosby), Buffalo Springfield (Stephen Stills) and The Hollies (Graham Nash). 3:33 Suite: Judy Blue Eyes. The title is a play on words. "Suite" is a reference to a part of a classical composition, but it can also be interpreted as "sweet." The full-length version of the song can be considered a suite, with lots of musical changes. Source: Songfacts
Wow never saw this concert video before. Is it embarrassing to say I had to listen to this CD with headphones on in the time I was in the maternity ward - water broke and was supposed to be trying to calm down wait for contractions to subside for surely I would have a long labor ahead. My one contraction lasted an hour and my daughter was born before my doctor made it to the hospital. I barely made a noise and meditated listening to / zoning out to their music and harmonies always made me so happy within - it’s hard to describe, so I’ll just let their music speak for me. My Nichole (and only child) will turn 20 years old 9 days from now. Time almost doesn’t seem to have passed at all since the day she was born and yet it was world’s away to where we are now.
Always loved music growing up on first Kiss graduated to Floyd and the might Zep. I remember the day I discovered Daylight Again and CS&N after telling the record store clerk I want something new, he handed me this, I bought it took it home not knowing what to expect. Totally blown away at the harmonies and fantastic song writing. I was a late teenager and still have found nothing more moving and utterly delightful. A gift from the creator. Thank You God for CS&N. Stills, my god Stills has to be one of the greatest guitar players ever.
Brilliant version. Each a huge talent on their own, bring them together and it's astounding and just as mind blowing decades later. Crosby, the glue holding it together. RIP Croz. ♥️
If all Stephen had ever written and sung was this one song, he would have still deserved to be in the Hall of Fame. Epic in every way - songwriting, composition, voicing, harmony, performance. A song for the ages.
Yeah but he didn't though did he? For those who came in late, check out Carry On, 4+20, Love the One You're With and Southern Cross for songs. Steve is a legend - always will be.
This golden age we lived through was timeless and I'm so grateful for it due to the likes of these three, just absolutely awesome man! Rest in peace David, we'll so miss you man.
Spine tingling. Evocative of those carefree days of youth for our generation…..joyous 🥲tears streaming down my face at the sheer musical beauty of their harmonies. Thank you CSN.

How he isn't considered one of the greatest guitarists ever is beyond me
But he IS considered one of the greatest.
Isn't he??????
@@davidp7178 Absolutely
He is by me. Especially on the acoustic, I think he is unrivaled.
He is among guitar players.
Well, I came here to hear David Crosby (RIP!) but STEPHEN STILLS and his guitar. Hot damn.
I love seeing Graham Nash singing and dancing with such energy, and bare feet!
You witness this once in a lifetime,,,if you're lucky! Wow...the music of our generation!!!
1 guitar……3 voices…….pure magic……..
I wish I could keep pressing "like" till I've liked this ten thousand times.
I'm 74 and can't really sing any more but I still have their original albums.....brings back so many bittersweet memories of my youth. We'll never see this golden age of great music, hope and great dreams ever again
SEE it here anytime you want, man. Peace. The best never fades away.
Back when talent ment something, no flashing lights, no half naked girls, just good music....
RIP David Crosby may you find peace condolences to your Family
Go Stephen go. You are the greatest. Love csny. Suite judy blue eyes. The best.❤❤❤❤😊
RIP David. I’m so happy to have been on the planet at the same time as you. Thanks for the music
@stevetugwell …. Me too
It's like watching and listening to a 9 minute divine miracle of absolute perfection. Stuff like this does not happen anymore. We lived in a golden age.
I would counter that it is not divine, it is man made and terrestrial. And from my perspective, that makes it even more significant and special.
Yes we did.
Amen
We sure did wernt it great P
Indeed! Golden age and Golden Musicians that remains forever👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎶🎶🎶🙏😊

I’m 71 and I agree
There is NO doubt: WE lived at the best of times. I am so thankful of that!
His good friend Bobby Ingram left the year before.
These harmonies are timeless. Rest in peace, David Crosby.
One of the best harmony singers of our generation
This proves I grew up with the best music! RIP David
Class of 77-78. Love CSN&Y
Oh God yes!
Sooooo good.
Yes, We lived in the Golden Age of music!!! Thank you! Thank you for your timeless AMAZING music will live on for ever!!!❤️
Steve Stills was smoking on the guitar. Fantastic!
RIP David Crosby...there will never be music like this again. I'm 50 so these guys were a generation before me, but my god man...that is music
RIP David Crosby, a legend amongst legends. I'm 36 so these guys were a few generations before me. But this was the music I was brought up with. I will forever be grateful to my Dad for this
I am 65 and happy so many people of different ages are still enjoying this ❤
Rest In Paradise David 😥🕊🙏🏼 Thankyou for sharing your gift with us. 💔❤🌹
This takes me back to my youth in the 70s, what a time to be alive. What a moving performance, beyond just music.

I'm 63 to, I seen this tour at the muny out door venue st, Louis , daylight again tour. still have my t-shirt ,tic-stub. Great show , Great nite.☮️🎸
David Crosby's "still as stone" is out of respect to Stephen Stills; he doesn't wish to be a distraction.
Crosby is still as a stone because that's what he is. STONED!
Dead right , I'm 65 and this lot made a deep impression. 👍🇬🇧
This is the best encapsulation of middle-aged life as a three-body problem. Stills a buttoned-down master. Crosby not sure what we're doing, but amused and engaged. Nash barefoot, yearning, exuberant. Inspiring no matter the time.

That's why there are recordings like this to refresh our memory. Don't despair. Just SAVE IT!
Whenever this tune comes on in the car I have crank it up + repeat it. It was such a great part of my life. RIP David Crosby
I’m 72 now, but I remember that when I was in high school I felt exactly this way about a girl I knew. Thank you CSN.
Fired up a doobie, cranked the stereo up, sat back and enjoyed every second of this song.

Incredible, how with one acoustic Martin guitar, a tambourine and three amazing voices, these guys could bring a crowd of thousands to such joy.
Im 53, and my mother listened to the song. I appreciate CSN
Absolutely my favorite song ever - has been for over 40 years !!!
Stephen was easily the most talented of the Trio.
Yes, that's true, but Crosbys voice in his prime was so so good. Stills is an amazing guitarist and singer very well rounded. Rip Crosby 🕊
Still breathtaking after so many years❤❤❤
I don’t think anyone has ever made an acoustic guitar sound this good ever.
This song is so AWESOME!!!
Just LOVE the lyrics, harmony, acoustic guitar, just so GOOD!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Still’s masterful guitar work on this song set the gold standard for a whole generation of musicians.
How many years...? and I never get tired of this masterpiece.
I’m 33 I’m happy i got to see this trio twice. Crosby and Nash once and Neil a few times.

The artist is immortal because the art is. No artist is ever gone as long we still appreciate and love their art.
The guitar playing is amazing. The sound he is able to generate from a single guitar while singing lead is incredible.

Stephen Stills is a genius.
Nash is a master at vocals.
Crosby: you did all quietly. You will be missed.

The look between Nash and Crosby says it all . Brothers. They fought hard and loved hard . God bless.
