    I have so much freedom in being on carnivore. My days are simple: eggs, butter, seafood, braised red meats. Life is good, delicious and yet so simplified.

    I was on methotrexate for my RA and I wanted off. I began Keto and did see a little progress in tapering, but it was very slow. When I added a tin of sardines everyday I noted a significant improvement in tapering progress, but when I went full carnivore for 30 days, I tapered off methotrexate in 30 days. Two weeks later I had a small salad and had terrible hand cramping 2 days later. I have to remain strict carnivore for several more months before I could tolerate small servings of plant foods. My plate is at least 80% animal products now.

    Doc, I love eating liver. Its a matter of trained taste to eat liver. I started eating pork or chicken liver since I was a kid. It was part of our family diet. My grand father used to tell me that organs and fat meat are the best. In that time, my grand mother used to tell us " stop eating bread and potatoes because you will lose your judgement". From where they had such teachings? My humble opinion is from their ancestors.

    Fortunately, I like organ meats. I eat them because I truly believe we need mineral and vitamins we can’t get from muscle meat. I also include a variety of animals such as sardines in water (they are very cheap). I add olive oil to or butter. For organ meats, I use my sous-vide to cook them at 55C for 4 hours to preserve most of the nutrients. Sometimes I don’t chew them (beef kidney has a strong flavour). I cut organ meats into small chunks and I swallow them with bone broth. Organ meats are very cheap.

    THANK YOU !!!! Yes, it is critical for Keto and Carnivore people to understand the importance of micro nutrients and even adding both broth and grilled bones for the marrow (cut in half before cooking works out best). Adding spices (which some carnivores claim to be to close to eating plants ) and pepper (great for the manganese). Also great once a year to go eat some lightly fried Michigan smelt, put some in the freeze for later in the year as well. Eat the whole fish (guts, eyes, head, bones.....) great taste and great crunch. Add some salt, pepper and ground chili powder, mmmmmm. Plus personally believe in the importance of blood testing. It is simple, fast, cheap and a great indicator of general health markers. I personally recommended once every three months or every 6 worse case. Why not? No reason why not. CBC, Lipid panel, total test / free test and estradiol, A2C, CMP, PSA, CRP, Reactive C, TFT,...... vit. / minerals,... and at the same time standard pee test and poop sample. Knowledge is power. Test results are never 100% but without it, 0% is worse. The goal should not be to be within an average range, the goal is to make changes to diet and lifestyle changes (as Dr. Cywes is recommending), to be at most perfect level possible for your age without the need for medications.

    I love various organ meats, and it is easily available here, it's a part of our national cuisine. Thank you for reminding me, I feel so inspired now and will base my cooking on 5 organ meats that we love to eat.
    But please no chicken, esp chicken liver the way they are raised... (no organic pastured chicken available here). I prefere turkey liver, skin, heart over chicken, that is poultry of my choice. Calf/lamb liver is delicacy, I feel bad for people who are raised to believe otherwise. Here it would be considered strange to "spoil" the liver by mixing it with mince.
    Also it would be difficult to give up cruciferous vegetables, without organically pastured and grass fed organ (or any other) meats. (I suppose that wasn't mentioned because it is obvious).
    Now I crave calf liver, fried with garlic. Yummy.

    How are you getting vitamin C from meat, cheese, eggs, or fish? I would like to see you do a video on why we don't need cruciferous vegetables and all the many antioxidants in vegetables to prevent colon, breast, or other cancers? Is there any research on this?

    • @olderandwiser127
      @olderandwiser127 Před 3 lety +8

      Yes, plenty of research. A ketogenic diet greatly improves mitochondrial glutathione levels. Glutathione is our primary antioxidant. Vitamin C is needed only when there is a high amount of oxidation, primarily from inflammation. Also, vitamin C and glucose compete for the same receptors in cells. Low sugar levels + low inflammation = little need for vitamin C. The micro amounts of C in liver or other organ meats is enough to thrive when eating carnivore.

    To be budget-friendly I've been eating tons of ground beef with bacon and eggs but recently there was a sale on steak and I spent a week eating steak, bacon and eggs and I'm not sure I can go back to ground beef anymore🤔 (why does it taste so much better???)
    As an aside I was watching some of your older videos about carb addiction and I had a question about those of us who are carb addicts: are we just addict-prone ie: if we were told to drink whiskey instead of water only the addict-prone would become alcoholics or is it the inability of the body to say no and the the mental loss of control of that relationship. And if carb addicts are addict-prone because of not having an efficient 'cooling mechanism' what were we addicted to before carbs? Is it just a see saw that tips eventually?

    • @georginaK21
      @georginaK21 Před 3 lety +3

      You become addicted to something when your receptors (the proteins that receive the addictive molecule) become saturated for too long. Being addicted to carbs or rather the effect they have on insulin, is just insulin insensitivity which means that the receptors for insulin are saturated because they require a larger dose to achieve the same effect. As for what were you addicted to before, that really depends on whether there is an emotional component. It could be literally anything that you enjoy because you will rewarded with endorphins. TV, video games, intimacy. Anything that makes you feel good.

Going forward I was so weak, my breathing became labored. My blood pressure dropped too low. My skin became thin like parchment paper. Even with salt and electrolytes my heart would race and developed an arrhythmia.
