Unboxing & First Impression of huge 9" screen Pioneer DMH-WT3800NEX car radio. Is bigger better?

- This is just a quick unboxing and overview and first impression of the largest screen name brand Android Auto car radio for long-distance travel needs. There may be others that are larger, so feel free to post in comments. This is not an install video, but if you have any questions on your particular install, just ask in the comments and I am sure someone could help out! I bought this radio for a large Android Auto experience in an RV, and after install and testing, I think this is going to work well. The screen is very large and is adequately bright in all lighting conditions. It is responsive and overall intutitive on the interface....I didn't need the instruction manual at all during use. Let me know if you have this radio and how you like/dis-like it. Let me know if there are any good features I am missing! How is it in Bright Direct Sunlight?? Visisble or Washed Out?
@@rhphotocdn it has been visible for me, but it has a fair amount of shade, so may not be as usable in a different vehicle

Hi, I did not need to install any parking wires or bypass anything to have android auto work. I don't think it even has a parking wire, just the camera inputs if you have those. This is a very basic unit and your phone does the heavy lifting (which is a good thing in my experience). I have not tried any video functionality with the unit (i use GPS and spotify mainly through AA) so I can't really speak to that, but if its in the Android Auto or Apple Carplay suite, I imagine it works fine.
Can we use hot spot and watch movies and CZcams?
You can access media through a USB drive or Android Auto/Apple car play. I have not tested any usb media so I can't speak to how well it works.
is there steering wheel controls menu in settings? source off then in settings, can you see the menu?
I didn't find any. This radio needs an idatalink or metra module to allow these functions. I don't know what all is required for that since my vehicle has no steering wheel controls, but I believe it is a fairly inexpensive module to add on and just tapping in to a few extra wires.
Mine does on my Scion 2013 xB.. for volume and channel changing..
Is sound good?
Yes, but keep in mind I am running stock speakers

Seems there’s a bit of a lag between menus? I also don’t know if could live without a volume knob. 😂
There is the tiniest bit, but it's not bad at all and I have several other touchscreen radios and this is one of the best in that regard. Compared to my outback, this thing is quite snappy actually! I do miss the knob myself, but not enough to put up with the old radio.
What about videos
As far as I can tell, this unit only supports the audio features of Android Auto. There is no parking cable to hook up nor any video apps on it. So if you're looking to use this as a monitor or casting device, I don't think this radio is gonna do it.
@@LoveTherapyAnimals I did find out that you can play MP4 and stuff on it with a USB thumb drive.
