      I just ask them a similar question in return, since we're on the subject. "Are your tubes tied?" "Are you taking any medication for mental illness?" "What's your blood type?" ect. It's no business of theirs if I've had my shots, and if they're so terrified of coovid, why don't they count on their own vaccination to protect them? Because if the shot doesn't really protect anybody, why the hell do you expect me to get it?

      Maybe Mikey pipes can have boiler/A/c SIMULATION SO guys can practice on parts especially needed , such as capacitors pressure troll, pigtails, and other popular items needed mostly in the trade.
      Pump replacement a n d direction of flow
      Roll out safety.
      Guys can spend a few hours a week practicing
      I'm pretty good with my hands due to my dad's influences .

    Mikey, I'm a voc ed guy from back in 1975. I'm a carpenter and I agree with you on the voc ed classes being cut, it sucks for those kids who want to learn a trade or be introduced to the trades. Mike Simon, Dirt Perfect channel, talks about voc ed and trade schools quite a bit. I tell kids who have no idea what they want to do when they grow up to look into the trades. I ask them to look into the HVAC/R game. Even if they don't want to get dirty every day there is the controls side of it especially in commercial work.
    I'm in the building maintenance world and the fairly large company I use here in Maine is always looking for people. The do all aspects of commercial work from huge steam and hot water systems to A/C, hot water heat as well as control systems for hospitals, schools and breweries. The work all over the sate of Maine as well as New Hampshire and Vermont. They are starting to get worried because most of their techs are over 50 and there aren't many applying for jobs.
    If I would have known about HVAC/R 46 years ago, I'd be retiring from that trade now instead of carpentry.

Almost 90% are out of date garbage but they look great on the outside!

  • @js4653
    @js4653 Před 2 lety

    Yes, I got it. Because it happened to me. Also my lifetime warranty was voided by Lachenvar because of "high chlorides" in the domestic water. Some very well hidden text in the warranty that made it a "lifetime warranty until it isn't". Needless to say I was quite unhappy about their complete and flat refusal to do anything for me. The tank failed in 2 years.

  • @nightone9720
    @nightone9720 Před rokem

    Depends on if the cold water supply valve only feeds the water heater or if it feeds both the inlet of the water heater and the prv of the boiler by way of a Tee. If the valve you shut was only feeding the water heater then yes absolutely 100% you are correct. But if it Tees before the tank then I would do further investigation. I'm sure your diagnosis is correct but I would have checked to see if the PRV was overfeeding first before concluding that the tank is compromised. I've seen prv's fail both ways. No flow or constant flow.

I'm so obsessive, I could never let that happen. 🤣 All I could think about is that unpainted wood soaking up all the rain and swelling up and eventually rotting and needing to replace the threshold. As much as I can, I prefer to prevent any issues from occurring rather than fixing them after they occur. End rant! 🤣

    For years i worked as an engineer and then that work went to China, before that i was a technician and also repaired a lot of the mashiery it takes to keep a manufacturing plant going. I found work as a consultant for 5 years but there were signs that was leaving soon. I looked around and didn't see much in my field so i got a job at the post office repairing mail sorting machines. The pay was not the best but it had great benefits and was stable - just what a 54 your old guy needs. The collapse in 2008/9 saw alot of white collar workers out on the street, having worked with my hands opened up a lot more possibilities for me then most white collar workers. The fact I had a history of working with my hands and my mind is what got me that post office job and that let me earn a living till i retired in 2009 with a small pension and could buy health insurance from them till I was eligible for medicare.
    The country is in dire need of young guys willing to go into the trades. Seeing two guys like Daniel and Peter going into the trades is a great sign the new generation is going to take the bit and run with it, nobody is going to fix your boiler and plumbing from China.
    I wish the best for both of them.

We would have made a good team between my ascent II knowledge (no one maintains these) except Tommy the plumber 👨‍🔧 .. I know why!! Ugh I’ve done thermocouple replacement, oil burner maintenance with dad through years actually it’s time to fire up the hot water heater need heat soon! Make sure she fires up good and no one blows up the house!! I honestly don’t know a ton about plumbing but I can do some plumbing , electric, “cars are my specialty”, home repair. I mess with you because my dad in SUFFOLK is honestly your biggest fan!! He’s been watching you for awhile now he shows me videos so I told him I’ll subscribe my daughter is 12 she taught me how to like and subscribe!! I didn’t have any subscriptions never came on he kept showing me videos was annoying and persistent so I got to “boiling” point now I say “I saw it!” He gets a kick out of you .. thinks your a pissa and your exactly like him when he used to maintain/work around home! He is disabled now so it means A LOT to me you can keep him happy and so entertained daily! Seriously he enjoys all your content and I thank you for keeping him entertained!! Heartfelt thanks!! He’s confined to pretty much couch and bathroom, kitchen. Hes not really mobile! Sad! I was praying to be a helper/apprentice make some loot and learn a ton from the best - have dad see me and be like WTH! WINNING! I’m a single mama of 2 minions so to learn a trade is priceless without 40k in student loans! Still I’m paying back at this time!! I tease you! I hope you know I’m not stalking as soon as I get hat purchase information I’ll let you be! Until then I’ll visit to watch and wait! I always owned my own businesses but to learn again would be amazing especially Plumbing! I’m a Registered Medical Assistant, Early Childhood Education certification, and some psychology but I love man stuff! Always did my own tires (plugs) air maintenance, tread can mount : balance, do plugs , oil , I know it all!! My cars I my own everything!! Please tell me where to purchase a “hat” for Bob from Suffolk and good luck to new guys working with you, what an amazing opportunity! When you do live videos and if you say Suffolk in house or comment on seeing him he calls me on phone like “Mikey piped just shouted out to me!!!!! Lol! Only BOB would find a plumber on you tube he is addicted to! Ttys Mikey! I already put in an order for a sweatshirt and 2 stickers for him should have shipped it for free to your “brick and mortar” it’s 15 mins from my home and bought hat there so I can get autograph for him if your willing to sign a lid of one..well under lid! Let me know when you get a chance about hat purchase! I googled “Mikey pipes merchandise “ and your business website popped up and merchandise was listed however no hat he keeps talking about wanting!!! Until then keep the pipes flowing and the air going my friend!!

    Hey Mikey, just a reminder that Thursday is 11/11, Veterans Day...I have the same Weil McClain boiler with the same set up with the pig tail ,pressure gauge and pressure troll. I took them all apart and flushed out the pig tail and the nipple, wasn't really clogged, I still get no reading on the pressure gauge at all when the boiler is running and the nipple does not get as hot as the pig tail either. Would the gauge be no good?

    Can you use a pipe dope that has ptfe in it for the sensor?

      Pipe dope works great on threads. If you keep it only on the threads most pipe dopes do most everything.

      Never use Teflon on lwco it can’t read to ground and won’t work properly.

    On the steam boiler you had complete combustion. Perfect combustion would be with 0% O2 which would be dangerous.

    Old old steam piping over the years were boxed in with new carpentry. Terrible.
    Always want to be able to see all plumbing utilities.
