If it wasn't a white do they still catch and release? And it shouldn't be allowed at all. The survival rate on sharks caught and released is extremely low. There body releases a massive amount of a certain chemical (i forgot the name) under the stress and most take off appearing ok, but it kills them w in hours. Blue sharks have a decent survival rate, but most others shark species don't. What's the point of what they are doing? Im asking because I don't know.
How about do your research before making yourself look stupid. When you use proper release procedures the survival rate for sharks is very high. Theres a reason florida requires that shark fishermen take a course and obtain a permit before being allowed to fish for sharks.
This shark was released however, a 13ft 1500lb pregnant female just washed up at the same beach Friday. She was dead with fishing gear in her mouth on the same side as this one. I hope it’s not the same shark. I thought they had to release them immediately once they realize they’ve hooked a GW. I know some work with F&G and place tags but I didn’t see one placed on this shark. 😢

They won’t release the cause of death until they 100% officially. I hope it wasn’t the same shark either. Absolutely sad. Those fishermen were trying to catch a white shark.
Shame on them
Wow, that thing is massive. Scary to think Great Whites are so close to shore in the Gulf of Mexico. Cray cray.
I can’t reel in a 8 pound lake trout in lake Michigan,wow

They took the hooks out and gently let it go. Dies not seem it was their intention to catch it. She took their bait. Sad
Yes. But the fight alone would kill it. Just cause it swims away doesn’t means it’s outta the woods. What most people don’t seem to understand.
No noooooooo leave nature alone…..we are killing the ecosystem 😮😢
