Quite a few years ago, my back door alarm kept going off randomly one night. I was home alone and scared. When the doorbell rang, I peeped out the window beside the front door, in a very similar way to this young airman, holding a weapon. I didn't know who was at the door, but I wanted to be prepared in case it was someone with ill intentions. Thankfully it was the police and Very thankfully, that particular officer wasn't an idiot and asked me politely to secure my firearm and then answer the door. (Of course, the PD in my conservative-leaning city are typically fairly intelligent. Also, I'm a white female.)

At the same time, the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office denies racism by its officers, because, when they shoot and kill an innocent black man, they always post the murder victim's rap sheet and exaggerate or fabricate the danger he or she posed to the officers. But then they get a case like this. Where there isn't a damn thing they can say to justify how quickly the officer shot and killed the man despite not even knowing that a crime was being committed and despite the man not pointing the weapon and having the right to be armed in his home.
