  • A run down of what to expect while changing the hydraulic oil filter on an Oliver 1755. The same filter is used on the 1855, 1955 and 2255. The same procedure is used for many of the large White tractors, but they do use a different filter part number. Thank you to guest mechanic Alan for his help!

Thanks for the video! Don’t see many of these tutorials and how-to’s anymore.

I just saw someone asking about this on Facebook recently. It might be old hat to some of us, but there's first time Oliver owners out there are looking for the basics, too. Thanks for watching!

You're right haven't seen a cover over the hydraulic filter on any of the Oliver's or the Whites! Thanks for the demonstration

I don't know why they didn't put a tap to stop the oil from draining out. Thanks for the video.

I've wondered the same thing. Maybe they figured with only 5-6 gallons , if you are changing the filter that you should change oil too. That was back before a 5 gallon bucket of quality oil could run you $50 or more.

Hey thanks for the shout-out! Glad you got the icon thingy working! Looks really good! I had to laugh when you took the shield off... I thought "Take the shield off? What shield? lol!!" I do actually have one, and thought about putting it on my 1855, maybe if I paint it I will. Even though you end up draining all the oil out when changing the filter, I still say it's a FAR FAR better setup than the open-center with pressurized filter housing and all that. Looks like you're fixin up some fenders there. What are they for?

@@ThatOliverGuyChris REALLY! Cool! I hope you show some video of the progress! Is it for you or someone else?

I was thinking some time lapse of the painting would make for good video. It's my tractor, I'm painting it for my daughter. It's been on the back burner for too long, so I want to get it done before spring work begins.

@@ThatOliverGuyChris That's awesome! Yes, a time lapse would be great! Looking forward to seeing that project! Good luck!

What hydro oil do you run as a replacement for Oliver type 55?

I use universal hydraulic transmission fluid. Agco calls it 821xl.

Guess they really liked that filter seeing how they used it all the way through the series 3s and 4wds

My 6125 and 8570 have the same basic filter. Seems like they would be cheaper for as much as they were used.
