In the 1930s my great grandfather became a farm equipment dealer handling Oliver, Gehl, New Holland and other short lines of equipment. Our farm and dealership grew over the years, so most of my time revolved around driving or repairing the farm equipment that we sold. In 1998 we made the tough decision to close the doors of our dealership, concentrating on our farm. We still have the buildings that housed our dealership, including the living space in the main building that I now call home.

FWA in the HAY
It's the 1655's turn to mow hay. This tractor is such a smooth runner, those large front wheels just roll over bumps and dips, it's nothing less than a pleasure to drive it. It's also a good match to the Gehl 2360 horsepower wise, so away we go! I'm even getting to where I can fly the drone and drive a tractor at the same time. Chewing bubble gum and walking at the same time are next on my list!

Growing up a neighbor who ran a dairy farm would ask for help, he had Oliver’s my favorite the 1655, a 1755 and his big horse a 1850. I absolutely loved that 1655 it was just the right size to pull forage boxes, cut hay and bale and it was so simple to drive.

We always mowed around the outside of the field the direction of travel and came back and got the second round the opposite way. Interesting how different farmers do things.

It's what happens when you put a RWD designed engine in a FWD car. Even in an S-10 the distributor still is a difficult nearly blind job! UGH

@@darweb3417 we can apply for a block permit and hunt them in the summer. A neighbor did it once. The guys were thrilled about getting to go hunting in shorts. Problem was, they had to do something with the deer. Nobody processes deer off season around here, and they don't last too long hanging in a tree on a 90 degree day. So it got to where no one wants to mess with it. Plus there's not much of a rack to hang on the wall, and unfortunately it seems like that's what the majority are hunting for.

Thanks! I used to grow tofu soybeans that were sent to Japan. They really liked our tree lined fields because they all but eliminate the chance of contamination from a neighboring field. They also suck a lot of water and nutrients out of the soil near them, so they have their downside as well.

Gee, too bad you couldn't get through a video without a deer(e) making an appearance. I expect it from Ross' videos, but you usually avoid it! 😅 I assume this was the 4th's parade unit!
The opening scene flying over the beans, there was a deer out there. I stopped and sent the drone up and figured I'd buzz the deer. By the time I launched, the deer was nowhere to be seen. The 1655 has made quite a few appearances in the 4th of July parade. It's always a crowd pleaser, but still doesn't get the attention that Herman does.
Must be second cut? Up here we are still working on first cut. 🤣. But there aren’t many years we take a second, usually into grain harvest by then. Lots of times once the hay gets a few good frosts we’ll let the cows graze off the regrowth.
Yes, second cut. I typically get 3, occasionally a 4th. It gets too hard to dry it out after mid September

64, grew up on a dairy farm in my teenage years and was a heavy equipment operator in my career. I will buy that tractor if i ever win the lottery. 😊 I remember riding the school bus in the late 60s and a dairy farm up on a hill had a yellow one and green one ... at the time i didn't know tractors but knew that those 2 tractors had big front tires and were bad looking. What a lucky farm to have owned 2 of these at the same time way back then.

Is the pressure lube kit still available as a part or kit rem agco?
It appears to be no longer available as a kit. The pressure switch is a 30-3164047, and is currently still available from Agco. The light is not, but that shouldn't be hard to find used, it's the same as the others in the dash. All the rest is common fittings and wire..
Reminds me of my uncle's 1600 Diesel I learned to drive on.

I have heard about that. It will be interesting to see what it brings. There's a lot of collector tractors already going from the US to Europe, so I would think that it will have some interest over there.
Are the lights on the super series 5.5inches or 5.75inches?
The majority of the Supers were 5.75 inches. In 1957 they switched to a smaller light that was 4.75" If you measure the bulb, they come in slightly smaller than that. They measured to the outside of the housing. www.korvesoliver.com has bulbs and complete new light assemblies if you're looking.
@@ThatOliverGuyChrisI contacted them to see if 5.75 sealed beams are available. I got some through Napa, but the retaining ring would not fit over them because the bulb is too thick. If I get new bulbs, do I need new rubber gaskets to go around them?
@@emrythompson I'm pretty sure Korves has the gasket too. Give them a call, they really know their stuff and are very helpful.
