Can it be use on the Sony A711
@@rickpennant3963 it's not a full-frame lens, so you would need yo be in crop APSC Super 35 mode.
@@cameralabs ok thanks
btw can be used to take portrait pictures
@@rickpennant3963 it's a bit wide for portraits.
This is the best review!!! Thank you 🫶
Great review as always! If it was around 600$ it was a no brainer like the 11mm f1.8. Still prefer it over the Sigma which is really hefty on a tiny apsc body. BTW that's a very nostalgic shirt at 8:10!
Excellent review very helpful thank you.
You're welcome!
Hello and Nice review. Just got renewed Sony 15mm 1.4F form Amazon (saved $ 175), looks brand new, very clean...
But comparable to yours ( 7 15) Sony lens , yours appeared looks like sharper (in 400%)...I did some trees and ocean views shots...
Thank you for doing this for us.
Thanks for your so valuable long term work. In your opinion, once stopped down, is this lens sharper of softer in the corners than the 11-20 ? I would enjoy the extra speed but not at the cost of sharpness for landscape/cityscape. Your flickr sample page doesn't include the "diagonal pier" 15mm shot so it is difficult to compare by myself. All the best,
They'd be similar stopped down. Maybe the 15 would still have an edge as a prime
Impressively small considering the maximum aperture and focal length! I'm a fan of the Sigma 16mm but it definitely is hefty on most APS-C bodies.
Gordon. I find the 1.4G 15mm a bit dark, and have to bump up the EV a few clicks even when wide open at 1.4. I have no idea why, never had this problem with other primes. Have you experienced this with this lens?!
Thanks Gordon 🙂
Oh my goodness. I want ALL the toys!!! 🤣 Thanks for this very useful review. I own the Sigma 16mm and recently acquired the Tamron 11-20mm f2.8. The budget's stretched already so all I really NEED? Is to get out and shoot with my a6600, using the fine lenses I own now. Maybe I will keep an eye out for a deal on the new 15mm Sony sometime down the line - when I know better what I'm likely to want to use, in what circumstances.
That's how every comparison video must look like. Great job.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the review, great additions, sony understands that aps-c has to be small, let’s see if new more compelling camera bodies come out , although I am also impressed by the new canon’s and fuji….
Well, the fx30 came along and these three lenses are a match.
great video!
Thanks!
THE QUALITY 😍😍😍🤯🤯🤯🥶🥶🥵🥵
Hi what’s the difference between sony E 16-55mm F2.8 G and the sony E15mm F1.4 ?
Er, one's a zoom and the other is fixed but brighter?
@@cameralabs I’m just learning about these lenses thank you… so I’m assuming the 15mm is brighter ? I think I will invest in it…
@@costtv the f-number tells you how much light it is gathering. The smaller the f-number, the more light. Smaller f-numbers also allow greater blurring effects. Zoom lenses may normally have dimmer lenses, but have the benefit of being able to adjust the magnification. So pros and cons to both types. You can't zoom the 15,
@@cameralabs thank you for educating me on these I will still purchase that 15mm I do taking heads video and blogs… thank you
I didn't realize it was sharper than the Sigma. Every review i have seen the bokeh is much better on the Sigma, but I'm a fan of small, lightweight and sharp lenses. I'll probably pick up the 15mm.
Seeing Sony make 3 lenses for APS-C, I am hoping they will release 10bit APS-C camera fingercrossed. If not I think I will just save up for a full frame.
I really hope so
Enter the fx30.
@@photosbywalt7124 Enter alpha6700
I hope that Sony will make some GM "CQ" Lenses which are of highest possible image quality without flaws that have to be corrected in software, fx a 15mm 1.8 or 2.0 for APSC that are both compact and with very high image quality and a 24mm 1.8 or 2.0 for full frame. I also hope for professional Cameras in APSC with high resolution EVF´s.
And then there is the already old and small 55mm F1.8 Zeiss.
That lens is ridiculously sharp. People nicknamed it the baby Otus for an reason.
@@1barnet1 I have the Sony Zeiss Sonnar 55mm 1.8, I will like in a new future version to have it in the same size, but with AF/MF button and aperture ring.
Great review
Thanks!
Good review, honest content. Just sent you a coffee.
Cheers, very much appreciated!
Good to see Sony investing in APSC.
I hope they flesh out the rest of the range with updated glass and bodies.
that battery status hurts my soul
The Sony one is the best
