Hi Fred, nice video that I watched over several times the last few years. I owned a PSR1000 for 18 years, till I switched it for my Tyros 4. That is something else! I have the T4 for almost 5 years now and I like it very much! Since the PSR1000 has no registrations, I was not aware of them. I still hardly use them. I always adjusted a style and save it in the user/HD. I need to change everything now from that method to the method with registration, I guess. My old method does not save certain things, like sustain and voices that are not standard. The registration method does, I found out. Your video helped me a lot. since some 8 months I'm a proud owner of a Tyros 4 and I've learned "handling" this giant first more or less by try and error, afterwords by a big volumed book (Praxishandbuch Tyros 4 by R. Poehnl and J. Wolf) which was really helpful. However, I'm still looking for "my way" in developping and saving registrations.
Your tutorial is a great help for me to succeed in this matter.

Hello Fred ! I recently purchased a Yamaha PSR s770. I had used Roland E-09 IN earlier for 2 years in which splitting, layering and saving the user tones was much easy. I was looking for this and I am so happy I saw your video on the Registration Bank. Thank you so much!

i made a Registration Bank as per this video. I set the foot-switch to to move up the line of Registration Banks when I activated it while playing a song. The foot-switch worked and when I pressed it, it went to the next Registration Bank.
Then i wanted to RECORD the same song and Pressed RECORD as per the usual way. The foot-switch would no longer move up the line when I pressed it.
Is it possible to record effect parameter changes? (E.g. if I want to create a style where the cutoff filter comes up gently)

Susan Fitzpatrick: Changing styles does not change any voices, unless the OTS link is on. So to do what you want, just ensure OTS link is off.
Fred Smith Thanks for that, Fred. I understand the OTS system. What I want to do is similar to how I used to play medleys on myTechnics 6500, when I would save my favourite 8 sounds as “panel memories” onto disc, and then have the facility to load them over any rhythm/style. I have experimented with the “freeze” option in Memory and Function but without success. I can’t believe that a keyboard of so high a specification as Tyros 5 doesn’t have the technology to do this. And, yes, I am beginning to tear out my hair through frustration; to use your own metaphor! 😂😂😂 I should really appreciate your thoughts. All good wishes from your U.K friend, Susan 🎶🎶🎶
Susan Fitzpatrick You can definitely do what you want. When you memorize your "panel memories", make sure they are setting only the groups you want. Specifically, in the Registration Contents Memory screen, ensure that Style is NOT checked. You probably want to uncheck other groups like Tempo and Transpose. In fact, you might want only the Voice group checked. Just make sure you’re memorizing ONLY what you want the registration to set.
Fred Smith Hi Fred, I have done what you suggest and it doesn’t free up sounds from rhythm they are originally saved with on home screen. If I use an empty reg bank, enter sounds only and save that when I retrieve it to marry up my sounds with a variety of rhythms I reach another dead end. What am I doing wrong? Fred, do you know if the registrations from a Yamaha 970 will transfer to the Tyros 4?
No, they will not.
This all worked perfectly complete with setting up so the pedal goes to the next preset 1-8 when pressed. But the minute I try to RECORD the same son, the pedal does not function to change presets. If it can't work, what is an option when recording
+June Bigge I don't know what you mean by "presets", but the pedal, when set up properly, will certainly advance the sequence of registrations while recording a song.

Yes, you just tab (top right hand buttons) to the drive you want to save to.

. I could not find them. I need help, please i lost my last 3 years work in my USB and tyros 4 bank and registrations files, styles . I had about 75 songs as i re arranger edit sounds, microphones set, and remix . many years to built up. Please. Help me. How it hoppened? I push to “h” to start New bank. there where not more there. Some hours before i copy my USB in my computer. I Can not see song registrationss and bank registrations and styles , as all of Them was in Folder. But i Can see anothers files older or New. But not The all my bedst registrations. I am very sad. Please help me.
When you clear old registration, are you lose all preset style ?
No. It's impossible to lose preset styles on Yamaha keyboards.

You just need to work in OTS and create your own rhythm...
Hi and thanks for your tuition. I have just bot a stunning T4 and it's awesome as I am sure you will agree. As I used to have a PSR-3000 which is to a stunning keyboard so I am familiar with some of the settings as they are similar. I am very new to the audio on the T4 so if you could up load a video or two on audio and other stuff, I would really appreciate this and I endeavour to do some tutorial videos in the future.
