Yeah, the whole thing about omni-man go public after 7 issues in the comic. The show takes a whole season, even comes with with an epic battle between Cecil and Nolan which I think is wayyy better

Goes to show no matter how physically powerful a person can be, a few words said in the right sequence, at the right place, in the right time from the right person can tear down any barrier people put up. And make them question their entire existence. Pretty remarkable how powerful words are. Seems to me Omni-man misunderstood human strength.
I know Omni Man is supposed to be seen as the bad guy to some extent but at the same time he's also showing how hard it is to be an undercover agent and how even the most conditioned soldier can crumble in the right environment.
I wouldn’t have loved this show if it weren’t for Omni-man. He’s a breath of fresh air compared to the mcu/dc superhero stuff we’re used to🤷🏽♀️
Seriously, the nostalgic animation, the awesome and badass fight scenes, the a list celebrity cast, the characters personalities and powers. And Omni man is the only reason you like the show.

Animated or not, that last scene is amazing. Everything about it pulls my heartstrings as a father. Nowhere near as literal but we all have gone through this father and son fued in some way. Its kool that Mark that was able to open Nolans eyes in a way no one else could.

The way he averts his eyes 4:25 when he calls Debbie a pet and way he's asking Mark those questions perfectly shows that he's ashamed of saying that a is trying lie to himself and forcing himself to stay loyal to empire because he struggles with the idea that he'll outlive all of it and sees the empire as the only thing that he won't lose. 6:21 He's asking those questions himself. I love it.
This is a fantastic way of putting it. Alot of people don't see things from the point of view of a being that lives for thousands of years and gets to see his loved ones turn to dust , time and time again.Another thing to add to this is that ,the older we get the more cynical we become...nothing is "new" anymore. I can't imagine what it would be like to live for thousands of years.
I'm not exactly sure he cares that much about the empire anymore. The fact that he's on this planet means the empire is aware that the planet exists, and they will be sending people to check on it. Omni-Man understands this better than anyone here. The reason his change was so violent is his own fault, he didn't do what he was supposed to do from day one, which was start to condition humanity to prepare them to be integrated into the empire, instead he became their champion, befriended other heroes, fell in love, had a family. He justified it to himself that these were all means to an end, but in truth it was making him sentimental. You can tell he was struggling with this leading up to that moment.
As for his son, the reason why he winced at the answer his son gave him after the 500 years question is likely the reason his son was fighting him in the first place. He gave his son the impression of what he was, not only to the world, but to him. His son was fighting as much to preserve the idea of what his father was as he was to protect Earth.
Then mark basically agrees, because after 500 years, mark will still have Nolan
And that hurt.
I love the line:

Omni-man is so cold and emotionless in the delivery, and respond so fast that you knew he hadn’t thought about it and didn’t want to think about it.
Yeah the more you think about it and know about Viltrum, he's basically trying to strong arm earth into submitting peacefully because he knows they'll just tear the humans apart until they surrender.
Its pretty clear he could conquer Earth solo without Mark. Why wait? He liked the humans but time grew short.
J.K. Simmons as Omniman is perfection. The entire voice cast killed it, but J.K. was on a different level.

What I live about it is there is a clear conflict in Omni man. He is loyal to his planet. But he clearly lives his wife and son. Shown by his anger of them spying on him and his family. And mainly after he stops beating the ever living Christ out of mark. It's a perfect confliction ark that makes the scenes hit even harder, and I love it
I think the indignant rage about them spying was all an act. But yeah he definitely has a connection to them, he never hurts deborah even when she confronts him directly. Maybe because he knows that would make mark hate him...but maybe its not just that...

This is an attempt of lying to himself and denying the fact that he’s learned from human culture and he’s adopted it as his own. If you read the comics you’ll see he does the last sacrifice for the whole universe, in fact once he leaves Earth for the 1st time (the end of this video) he truly becomes someone else, the person he already was when he left: a human. The comics are 1000x better than the series, hopefully there’ll be a season 2

One of the best parts of the Boys and Invincible is how they showcase A. How incredibly violent most superhero fights should be, realisitcally and B. How friggin scary super strength is in the wrong hands.
I love Omni-Man because he shows that, yah these kinds of fights and beings could very well be a bloodbath in reality. A real breath of fresh air
