Could go with a gutted Focus RS, Fiesta ST, or Subaru WRX too. If you can get your hands on a nice RS200 or Escort Cosworth that would be sick. Either way I think rally inspired cars are your best bet for sure. Ask your boy Ken, I think he might know a thing or two about rally cars haha
An Rs3 would be a riot with some mods and a working rear diff. Sequential or dog box Evo with a smallish turbo would be fun but may require more tweaking. Hard to beat the fun driving experience of a well done Evo.

Too costly if it gets wrecked. I think the Audi route is best. Can make big power, the dual clutch in VWs us pretty damn good and the cars are cheap enough and easy to replace if it ever gets wrecked.

talon was basically a rebranded/slightly tweaked eclipse of the same generation, though, would be the top-tier eclipse that has the AWD system
6 Bolt block, auto, eagle talon. Boosted launches, tough tranny.. DSM Link to tune.
An old 2007-2009 e90-e92 BMW 335i XI can be a good build. AWD, twin turbo, inline 6 3.0L, direct injection. Cheap cars, reliable when maintained, and respond really well to mods!
You could also go for the N55, 2010+ which has DCT options. But those Z transmissions with tranny flashes are quiiiick.

A GTR is heavy and they typically understeer pretty bad without a lot of suspension work.
My best vote for AWD, DCT, and a lot of power without weighing a ton is an RS3/TTRS. Tuned or on E85 they make plenty of power, upgraded turbos even more so, still fairly light, and they handle really well. Especially with a few suspension mods and weight reduction, but time may not allow.
Evo is also a great choice, but DSM vs DSM I think you might be at a disadvantage against someone who's owned and raced one for a while. 😄
Koenisegg Gemera would be good we all know they handle well and its the first one with AWD 8.8 second 1/4 mile and room for 5 lol. I know the power to weight ratio is absolutely horrible for a Koenigsegg but its a family car but the awd makes up for it if your going under 100mph lol
And.. those GTR gearboxes are pretty troublesome

@@OCOWGTR27 I've tracked both, GTRs are much worse IMO. Yes, pretty much any AWD car naturally understeers, but the weight of an RS3/TTRS helps greatly compared to any stock suspension GTR.
And to "fix" the understeer is going to cost way more on a GTR than it is on an RS3 or any 8V/MQB chassis car.

I'm gonna say a TTRS or RS3, the O7K engine is damn near bullet proof and incredibly reliable hands down on of the best engines from Audi

Honestly, I think an r34 racing a vr4 would be the coolest race to watch. AWD, All wheel steering, gorgeous, and a great platform to build on. I love r35s but that race would be so special to watch.
DSM life! That VR4 is a beast, and you've already met the Red Demon Talon in Leroy. Maybe I'm biased as a life long dsm guy, but the 4g63 can make some serious power. Get yourself a GSX or TSi AWD, build up a 6 bolt, Shep tranny, and a little bit of time/money and you'll have a monster on your hands.
You're not cheating with an import either, made in Illinois. And if you get the TSi, it can be the "Bald Eagle Talon"!

Audi rs3/ttrs or an evo would be the best options. GTRs need a built trans and big turbos if you want above like 600hp... and they are expensive & heavy. Longterm you could built a custom awd hellcat out of trackhawk parts.

Ttrs Isn't fast though. It doesn't handle either. Be better of with a type r.
RS3 wouldnt work, way to much understeer already with stock power and wider front tyres than the rears. That car is an Autobahn car and not something that can turn.
TTrs has the same problems just less bad.
STi and evo would work but they are both small little 2 liter engines. To get the necessary power youre going to invest a lot in engine and drivetrain.

Aluminum rods and hoops seems to be a good next step. You'll get there. Love the attention Mullet is getting by the team. You should get personalized tags for Mullet and Ruby.(I miss AUC VET) Get a Preserve Manatees tag for Mullet(in honor of the thickness) EL CO. And Ruby a tag that says RU3Y.

So to buy a car just to win your own race that everyone knows you can pay to win is just kinda a buzz kill in my opinion. The freedom factory is awesome but to add diversity to it would make it better. To have the track owner build a car just to win that event isn't exactly a surprise nor is it the best way to get people to enter the event next time. Be more like the VR4 guy, enter someone else's event and win that. More Surprising, lot more rewarding, different challenges. If you're that bent on winning your own event it sounds more like an ego problem vs a competitive grudge. Cleetus is a good guy but letting him get greedy is where he starts to lose the humble racer that makes me respect him.

Hell yeah, everything just loses its fun with regulations if you start doing that. The best way to do it is roll with it. For example we have the wheelie competition every year out here in Byron, and instead of stopping it because sometimes people crash, now there's a most radical prize, so even if you go out in a blaze of glory, you still have a chance at winning something so you can be back next year!

Audi ttrs or the Audi rs3, handles very well, makes great power with mods, very fast dual clutch trans... I'd say that'd be one hell of a spectator drag car. Evo would be sweet too and probably much more "affordable"
Maybe you should consider an Audi RS3 for the freedom factory. Its AWD, has a DSG and the 2.5L Turbo 5 zylinder is known to make good Power whilst sounding absolutely amazing.
Or a TTRS - same power train but slightly better handling
No offense but the RS3 is a shitty sports car. Its heavy, it understeers like nothing else even with the wider front tyres and the engine is not easy to get the necessary amount of power to keep up here.
On top of that the rear drivetrain only engages when the front wheels have slip, thats not what you want in a sporty 4wd car. Kills your laptimes and lines.

On the topic about always blowing head gaskets, John Doc highly recommends TKM Performance/machine shop in North Carolina all the time. Anyways TKM does what they call top fuel hoops, or rings at the top of each cylinder, which would take care of blowing head gaskets all the time. John Doc's "Black sheep" for example of an engine with the hoops. That car is pushing around 2,300 HP LS.... Just a thought.

Audi RS3 is the spot. I mean, hoonigan did basic bolt on and a tune and got like 500 wheel. Wouldn't take much to make 6-7 wheel I'd think. And they drive really well.

I'm not a huge audi fan cause they are a pain in the ass to work on, but it's probably the best car for this. An STI doesn't like sustained sideways Gs cause it will starve the rod bearings. A nasty Evo might work but its basically the same 4g63 that is in the vr4. Maybe a Caddy CTS-V awd?
Might as well just suggest a Tesla if we're suggesting something completely off brand and that he won't ever get lol

Well the winning formula is short gears and hard acceleration and rally cars are exactly that, but if I had my choice it would be a Celica GT-Four, lighter than a VR4 still AWD and can make some power, odds of finding a built one in 2 weeks are slim tho so I’d look for a track built Evo or Audi TTRS or if you get lucky just get a car that was purpose built for those track

yupp rally / rallycross cars would dominate this.
@Dominik Ladoš with a sequential trans the evo would hold it own, due to the rally heritage the aftermarket support for track/rally racing is much better for evo's in regards of suspension etc. Not to mention an evo is a far lighter car then the audi's you mentioned. Just look at what cars are being used in this kind of racing or rallyracing, it arent TTRS.

An R35 would be sick, but the Audi RS3s are a force to be reconned with for sure. A Q60 probably doesn't have the transmission but the engines in them can put down some serious power.
My brother had a s4 v8 awd 6 speed... house fire really fucked him up and he had to sell it.. that car was pretty damn cool. I could imagine it with some work done.

I was coming to comment the same! Love my R, it eats cars it shouldn't on track! If he sets one up properly it will dominate. Easy to make 500 on stock engine and just add some suspension and he's set!
Love my R. I'm stage 2 with some suspension mods and it is an animal. But an RS3 is the ticket here.

AWS is irrelevant if you do not have the grip to back it up. Lateral grip makes a car corner well, and it certainly didn't corner all that well. The thing that allowed it to win was AWD on crappy surface when accelerating, which is why it almost lost to the C8: the C8 could actually corner well and it has an excellent weight distribution that allowed it to have traction where other cars struggled. It was a great balance.
If the VR4 could corner well, the competition against the C8 would have been non-existent and the C8 would have never kept up at all. And traction was an issue for other cars that could go around a corner well, which is why something like the C7Z or C7 ZR1 can't compete.
If you want to fanboy over the VR4, that's cool. But, you should stay away from topics you don't understand. Like how AWS is not a magical thing that defies the laws of physics.

As a previous owner of a fully built 3000GT Vr4 and they are nothing to play with. Something you need to understand about the VR4 is they actually have 4 wheel steering increasing the turning capabilities, as well as handling. These cars were named "Japanese corvettes" and also known as corvette killers.
This one doesn't have 4 wheel steering
And also one of the most unreliable vehicles ever produced. There is ALWAYS something wrong with them. Used to be a dream car of mine, but then I learned better. They are definitely cool cars though.
