Correct. As a Raiders fan, I remember watching this game the way Mickey was watching Clubber Lang at the beginning of Rocky III. I knew we'd have a lot of trouble against whoever we played.

Always loved Air McNair and Mason. Mason was such a smooth route runner. Air McNair was fantastic, as well. One of the best QBs in Ravens history. Enjoyed watching both of them in purple 💜

They could have beaten them, the Ravens defense kept Peyton Manning out of the end zone the whole game but Air McNair couldn't find the end zone himself. Complete wasted effort on the defense's part that year in that playoff game.

A real treat to watch, I'm loving seeing these game highlights from the early 2000's. Those were the years I started watching football, and seeing these old highlights is reminding why I fell in love with the game.

MattR. But Ray Lewis' play wasn't a GW play. It was a play that did seal it, however, but I think the returned blocked FG gave the Ravens the lead... if I'm not mistaken, so, technically, that would've been the GW play, even if Ray Lewis' play never happened.

It’s a shame the NFL moved the Titans & Ravens our of the same division because these two teams had some great games over the years.
Even after the NFL realigned, these two teams had some bloodbaths when they would meet in the regular season, and also their playoff games in 2003 & 2008.

So much more impressive than the '85 Bears because a) they played an extra game and b) two of them were on the road. Denver and the Raiders were 2 of the top 3 offenses in the NFL that year. They scored 6 pts combined.

Tbh, as others have said, this game against the Titans was the Superbowl. Tennessee was the only team in the league who matched the physicality that the Ravens played with. Once they lost, it was over for the rest of the league.

This was a great playoff game of defense. It also is yet another reminder as to why making FGs are so important. But, ultimately, the title is spot on. Ray Lewis crushed the Titans hopes for getting back to the AFC Championship.

One of McNair’s worst game came at M&T Bank Stadium, January 2007. On that day the Ravens did something no other NFL team did that year: hold Peyton Manning out of the end zone. Colts only scored 15 points that game, all via FG’s. The Ravens could only muster 6 points. The turning point was when Steve McNair got picked off on the Indianapolis 2. I didn’t expect the Colts defense to play the way they did. That was a brutal loss for the Ravens, as well as the city of Baltimore. Losing to the very same franchise that skipped out of town “under the cover of darkness,” and a late March snowfall. I was 25 at the time and, to this day, I’ll never forget the feeling of loss.

The 2000 Titans defense is one of the best defenses ever, they're under rated when it comes to all time defenses. Led the league in fewest yards allowed and fewest passing yards. Ravens were just that good

This game was soooooo damn goood. Living in DC and being a fan of AFC football it was a pleasure to watch this Championship run. Football is very different now. Running lanes are more wide open and you can't hit anyone. Not to mention QB's regularly throw 40-50 times a game now.

C'mon now, the Titans had over 300 yards in offense, Eddie George ran for 91, and the Titans had 23 first downs. Let's be honest, the Ravens won on a fluke blocked FG returned 90 yards and a tipped ball ran back for a TD by a linebacker, helped by Del Greco missing two other short FG's. No disrespect to the Ravens, they made the big plays, and their defense was very good, but giving up 300 yards and 23 first downs is hardly "insane". You want insane defense, go to the '85 Bears and their playoff games.

I agree with you that none of them were HOF Talant, but Brad Johnson had a good career. Unfortunately he was 28 years old before he ever started a game. From 96-03 Johnson was a very solid starting qb....Throwing 20 plus Touchdowns in 5 seasons! Dilfer threw 20 plus tds only twice and McMahon never did it once....

Ravens have always been the biggest rivals for the Titans in my opinion. This game and the game in 2008ish in the playoffs(Titans again number 1 seed, like this game) when Ravens had a delay of game on 3rd down with less that 2 minutes in the game, the refs miss it, and they get a long pass play to get in field goal range.

Steven White I can’t disagree. Our best 2 players was on offense and Ravens best was on defense. This was a 10-10 defensive battle except for the 2 non-offensive TDs. This is exciting football. Ravens made the plays.
And this was back when they played football like it supposed to be played. Even if the WR don’t catch the ball, he will get his head taken off if he go across the middle. You can bang with the WRs after 5 yards. You can pop the quarterback above the shoulders and below the knees. You won’t get a foul if you touch someone a half second after he step out of bounds.

Tennessee's kicking game has doomed them against the Ravens. In the 2000 regular season game, Del Greco missed an extra point, the Ravens end up winning by a point. In this game, the kicking issues were obvious and in the 2006 regular season game, Bironas had a field goal blocked on the last possession of the game. Even in the 2008 playoff game, Bironas missed a kick in a game decided by 3 points.
I hated the Titans and Jags back then.

This game was the beginning of the end for that early Titans era of McNair and George. Yes, they made it back to the playoffs the following years and even reached the AFC Championship in 2002, but those teams were a shell of their former dominant selves from 1999-2000. The Titans had one of the best home field advantages until this 2000 season when the Ravens went into Nashville and beat them twice.
Not really Tennessee went 11-5 in 2002 and went to the AFC Championship game then in 2003 they went 12-4 and lost in the divisional round to the Patriots.
They managed to beat my Ravens in 2003 AFC Wild Card in Baltimore

As great as the Ravens defense was in 2000, honestly, Tennessee's was not that far behind. AT ALL. They allowed just 191 points in their own right, were #1 in the league in yards allowed, and had back to back shutouts to end the year while not allowing any team to score more than 24 points all year. They held up their end of the bargain in this classic...it was special teams and their offense that was the undoing of a great season in this game.
Many people forget the Titans and the Ravens used to have a huge rivalry.
