this woman isn't of this world. Lot of work, smart, talent, sensibility, emotions. She can sing the phone book and make me cry. There is something in her voice, her tone that always hit my soul.

Yes, it enables her to convey emotion in a way that is different from many other singers. Very few singers can reach right into you that way, but Floor is special person and she does do it so very well :)

Floor is simply the best female vocalist I have ever heard! When she sings it's like she reaches down inside your soul and sings the song just for you! Everytime I hear Floor sing, I get goose bumps, and tears well up in my eyes...she is just magnificent. Bravo Floor!!!
Now that you’ve seen Floor’s performances + Nightwish performances in this series, you’re probably starting to understand why we Nightwish fans are so crazy about her! Why do we consider her completely unique!
And that we live with her in the 21st century, with all this technology we can hear her all over the globe. Think if we lived, say, 100 or 200 years ago. We could hardly have ever heard of her! We can be happy that she and we are living right now! And Floor will enrich our lives!
I'm this age (62 years) had time to hear many singers, starting in 1970 when I started to listen to metal, hard rock, prog rock, etc. But none have been able to at the same performance level of emotion, as Floor. Her ability to take from sad tears to bubbling joy is unique!
And as we often said with the late Ann Waychoff, we only have one Floor!
(Ann was one very prominent Nightwish fan who died this year. Grandmother of all of our Nighwish fans and "Nightwish Army General.")
And that my man, is why Floor is the mightyest woman on this planet!!!!
No words needed, your face said it all. I'm a child of divorced parents an a single mother as well. The most important thing is the the children know they are still loved no matter what, and that the divorce whas not their fault what so ever. I was lucky, my parents realized their children were more important than their issues, and they remained friends ever since. My father still visits my mother every week, and we all spend the holidays together, including new partners. This is the example I had, and I am able to pass along to my son. It wasn't easy, there was a lot of hurt. But how is my son going to learn to treat his partner right, if his parents don't show him how?
Im in the same situation, divorced parent and I ask myself that question every single day. Hang in there bud, everything is gonna be fine.

Loved your reaction to this beautiful and sad song. I am also a child of divorce, however I was in my late 20's when it happened. It did not make in any easier my friend. The fact that you care so much about your children shows in your emotional response to this song. We as adults must move forward and try to stay active in our children's lives. They are the important ones. A smart man once said that life is about suffering and we as adult men must be willing to take that pain and suffering and carry it on our backs for the rest of our lives. There is no joy in it, but it is our burden to bear. At the end of our personal journeys it will become the memories that make up our lives, both good and bad. This is the duality of life. Be at peace my friend. I sense a good man inside of you and it fills my heart with joy. See you for the next one.
Does it help to know that Floor is an EMPATH? She finds the emotion in words, music, and the writer's situation. She just ABSORBS the emotions from the air. And then sings it out.

If you want to see Floor's parents, there is a short extract (about 16 min) from another Dutch show that she took part in in 2015. Floor was among the first students at the newly founded Rock Academy in Tilburg, Netherlands, and this show is organized as a reunion 15 years later. It has behind the scenes footage from a big concert at Tampere (recorded for the Vehicle of Spirit live DVD set), where Floor's parents were in the audience. It has English subtitles.

There's a documentary about how Floor became a member of Nightwish that you might enjoy. It's called "Learn the setlist in 48 hours". It takes place while the band was on tour in America in 2012.
Floor is the living emotions and soul of the song she performs. It is a very unique capability she has. As you can see in some of the other songs from the TV-show, she does it more than once, hitting people directly in their hearts. And when you return to Nightwish, there is a special song:
The Poet and the Pendulum, where she makes us all cry. When you get to that in 5 - 10 songs, please let us know, because it is essential that you know the background - and you also have to know some more about Tuomas's composition skills. There is a reason why he is called the modern Mozart, with a touch of Shakespeare. He writes deep deep lyrics, complexed and very emotional - and his compositions are far more complexed than you possibly can discover in such short time.
Another song have 600 soundtracks, and it's not that simple to catch every thing that is going on in the 10 listenings of a song - that's how complexed some of them are - but it is also why the music is so full.
Also the way Nightwish creates their music is special. Tuomas writes the raw material and records with a piano. Send it to other band members who listens, digest, interpret in their own way - and then they all meet in the studio, deep in the forest by a lake, 1 hours drive from the nearest village.
Then they start piecing the music together, changes what needs to be changed. In that way, all 6 have put their personality and soul into each song - from the raw material Tuomas created. This was a simple quick explanation - there is documentaries about, if you wants to dive into this later on in your journey.
Thats and incredible workflow process. But the results speak for themselves, Thx for the education, the Nightwish Army has been super supportive of me, I can't say thank you enough. ✌️✌️

I think his lyrics saying that everyones hearts lead them to make honest choices out of love is a beautiful sentiment; to let children know that even if your parents are not together, they shared love, made the children with love, and that each parent will always have that love for the children, even if they moved on to be honest and love others in their lives.

Everything is all ready told, but one thing special for the International viewers is the sub titeling by Jennyzelf thats makes the video so much better with the background storys of the performanches. Great reaction, every divorced parent will feel the same I think.

Hey man, same here, divorced with kids between us. I also am from a broken home, so I got this from both sides. This one still hurts and I have watched countless reactions to it. That wound doesn't close all the way and even time doesn't fix it. The wasted possibilities and potential are just staggering. That'a a bitter horsepill.

It is so important to have songs and poems that help us to feel ourselves. This show and this particular season has done so in abundance. Between the singers because they grew to love one and other and us view-listeners because we relate. Even if you would turn the sound off you could see what emotions Floor sings. I wish you lucky stars in keeping close enough to your kids.

If you want to cry more listen to Nightwish "Our Decades In the Sun". Floor on vocals. They had difficult time recording it without crying. The comment section of the lyrics video is something you should read. Tuomas getting the kind of recognition as a composer/lyricist he deserves.
Also today I saw Chase Carneson's reaction to Marko Hietala "The Voice of My Father"
Marko is the bassist/vocalist of Nightwish. The song is from his solo album, released about a year ago. Chase usually analyzes music to detail, this time he was mostly crying. He lost his father to cancer in the beginning of this year.

I WANT MY TEARS BACK, NOW!! I get a bit misty during almost all of Floor's performances. She is just such a beautiful person. Can't believe Mama got blocked. I've seen reactions to it by a dozen people. Maybe you need just another pause in it, or something like that. Good luck with your other posts.
Couldn't agree more! I tried, all 7 recordings we different, I tried just blank pauses, a clip of me saying sorry copyright 4 times across the performance. I couldn't think of anything else. Someone suggested trying the version without the subtitles, I'll give that a shot, but will be hard to try and sync up again.

@@gsparkman apparently there were some subtitles issues in the past, I guess it's the company who did the subs making a claim. At least that's what I'm being told, this is all new to me
