    I'm 37 now. There was one of these in our Pizza Hut, directly next to the iconic "Revolution X" Aerosmith game, Samurai Showdown, and a western game I can't remember what it was called....there was a stampede that would run through and you would have to run on top of the bulls?? Basically, it was an absolutely legendary experience going there. Pizza was just a bonus. Love it

    This game was so much fun, I remember talking to some guys when it first came out an they didn't like dinosaurs biting each other but I thought thats what made the game cool-the fact that it was something different, plus the stop motion animation graphics was something never done before in gaming which gave it a real unique aspect. He is right about the special moves, if you didn't understand it before hand you would never figure it out-luckily the console versions were perfect platforms to practice on.

      @LyonsArcade  Před 5 lety +1

      Man unfortunately it's all wrapped up in Atari's vault :) When Atari went under they had a bunch of games in production and none of them got finished or released, I don't know why they can't do sequels to any of those but whoever owns the licenses doesn't do anything with them at all, might be a legal hiccup or something.

      What i read was that the systems all got flashed to factory settings there was a few that had update 3.0 but none has come up most likely yeah either they destroyed it or some employee is waiting another 30 years and sell online to be super rich or something amazed there isnt a hardcore indie devs that want to work on this game this game could have been one of the greatest fighting games to ever live and have its own movie or animated series on "Netflix-joke" if only this could get unreal engine most likely they get sued i guess since 98 hasbro bought the company and since hasbro is more targeted to kids most likely this game will never surface or get a reboot without a price this game could have saved atari.

    • @SpearM3064
      @SpearM3064 Před 5 lety +1

      @@LyonsArcade More likely it's just Warner Bros Interactive sitting on it. You have to consider that these are the guys preventing the computer game "No One Lives Forever" (aka NOLF) and its sequel from being re-released. See, thing is, the rights to NOLF and NOLF 2 are owned by about three or four different companies... and nobody's sure exactly who, other than Warner Bros, is one of them.
      Someone wanted to re-release the game, so they contacted everyone who *might* own part of the rights. Every single one of them said "Well, we might... but you'll have to pay us up front just to look through our filing cabinets." And then, just to make *doubly* sure, Warner Bros renewed their trademarks so that nobody can re-release the game or write a sequel without paying licensing fees.
      If they'll do that to a computer game... even one that they have *publicly admitted* that they don't plan to ever re-release or make another sequel to... then you can easily imagine that they might be sitting on Atari's vault.

    This game was on free play down at a local arcade with a playcenter on the upper floor. It was placed in the playcenter next to TMNT, but that cost 20p. I played the hell out of this, even if the game in hindsight isn't very good. It's always got a soft spot in my heart.

  • @TJ_Actual1
    @TJ_Actual1 Před 6 lety +2

    All the artwork except the side control panel artwork. Old video but I needed to comment lol. Also, I agree. Home ports will never touch the original arcade machine. Even MAME. PRs programming code was encrypted. If you play PR in MAME, which is a emulator (duh) you'll notice that the blood is tan sometimes, character sprites are glitchy and some combos are impossible to tangle together. Even gameplay is effected. All because other components that the code in the arcade software talks to is missing so the code acts up. Atari was smart with this game! If you ever get another PR, put that info out there. Might sell faster haha. That's why I bought mine 7 years ago. Great video!

      No, someone tried to port the arcade version, which is what you have in the video, to gamecube and ps2, but due to the copyright protections on possibly both the hardware and software, there are major glitches.

    • @SpearM3064
      @SpearM3064 Před 5 lety +1

      @@pieterwillembotha6719 Actually, you hit the nail on the head. The problem is (or was) the copy protection and security encryption, which made complete emulation possible. Any attempts would usually crash at the character select screen.
      *However,* there are two prototype cabinets for Primal Rage 2. One of those is available for play at the Galloping Ghost Arcade in Brookfield, Illinois. Until 2017, nobody had cracked the protection on it either, but someone finally figured it out. Even though the game is still in an unfinished state, you can play it with a custom version of MAME called MAME4RAGE2. Maybe with some luck, they'll finally crack the protection on the original _Primal Rage_ as well.

      PCB:
      There’s are 2 versions of the pcb. One labeled Neotec on a sticker, which can only be used with a high impedance Neotec monitor and a newer board with a switch where you can select between low or high impedance monitors. On the older version, you can change a few resistors to make it work with low impedance. Instructions are floating around the internet.
      Audio Options:
      Yes, the pcb board has a separate audio board which needs to be powered by harness coming from the main board. You will need to research the different types of audio options available. There’s a JNX adapter that you can purchase if you would like to run the audio through your current jamma connection.
      4th button:
      The player one button is also used as the top weak attack.
