@@jacoriadams Yeah I'm from Houston as well, and I admit, it ain't the greatest. But still, it's what we know, and I'm always going to be appreciate it being so close to our city. A lot of awesome memories going to Galveston as a kid, and as a High School student with my peers. Even now(I'm 33), it's still awesome to go for fishing and the occasional swim. We're literally next to the ocean, and not many big cities can say that. It's nice to appreciate the small things in life.

Here’s a funny story. I’m from the Clear Lake Area in Texas. I saw a shark movie, The Shallows, with some friends in 2016. At the end of the film they the main character going to Galveston except all the beaches were clear and blue. Whole theater bursted out laughing cuz we all knew that aint it 😂
Still we all love Galveston, great city!
Galveston beach is shallow for a long way compared to most beaches. In Galveston you can walk out a couple hundred yards and still be only chest deep. and the sand is brown, not white, so the water can never be very blue close to the shore.
And Galveston is a bay with lots of salt water marsh, and Chocolate Bayou and the Trinity River exit nearby, so no it is not blue. But it is WARM - 86 degrees in August. I like it a lot! Great fishing too!

Charles spoke the truth. Love him and Shaq's conversations. Hilarious! I came from the Gulf Coast of Florida with clear emerald blue water and gorgeous white sand. Galveston is awful. Plus the wind is so harsh that gray brown sand slices your face 🙁

it's not dirty, just silty. The water isn't very clear and its Galveston so there's oil drilling and refineries everywhere, so people just assume the ocean water is polluted but it's just murky. Texas has long barrier islands and the water between the barrier islands like Galveston and the mainland is usually only a few feet deep so it looks brown and green

As a Houston resident I can confirm Galveston is garbage. Growing up as a kid I thought that’s what all beaches looked like until I moved to Hawaii.
