Catching speckled trout out of Cocodrie, Louisiana had been on my mind for awhile, especially seeing how great the action west of the Mississippi River has been this summer.
So it made sense to launch out of the famed Coco Marina to see what's out there, but only after I did some pre-trip planning (like what's taught inside Inshore Fishing 101) to figure out where I can safely navigate the boat and what are most likely to be great spots for speckled trout.
However, my first trip down there was an evening trip, which is great because it allows me to take advantage of the falling tide that was predicted to happen.

I know that exact area you're fishing! I go to a marine biology camp down in Cocodrie and we went out in a research vessel and I knew that area looked familiar!

It's really just like anywhere else. It sets up a lot like Bay Eloi. A rig bite is a rig bite anywhere you go in Louisiana, and I haven't found it to be different in our bay systems, not yet.

Unfortunately, no. I fished less than 4 hours and the majority of that time was spent at one spot. There really isn't anything I can tell you in an FTR for this trip that's not already obvious in this video. If you're chasing fishing spots...

@@LAFishBlog I'll look into your course, I just moved and am only and hour away from cocodrie... I just don't have a boat so I am limited to areas where boats are not needed.

I use quite a few different rod and reel combos depending on what lure I'm using, but I pretty much fished only with a jig on this trip.

How does the matrix 6.4 jigging rod rate as far as the best jig rod that you have ever tried?? I’m thinking about trying the matrix rod
