This dude is an animal. He did a whole sti trans swap nearly by himself in a day. That's insanely fast. Props.
on a driveway.... with a hoist + trans jack he could do it easily
I literally cannot comprehend this. I want to do it in the worst way but geez Louise this would take me weeks.
me and 3 ppl on and lift are trying rn
Everyone: Surviving the pandemic
Bader: How to STI 6 Speed Drivetrain Swap your 2015-2020 FA WRX
Exactly! hahahahah
Where do you get your parts!? I have an 18 wrx and I’m trying to build it
@@kylegeddes998 I join Facebook groups that buy sell and trade Subaru mods to get them cheaper either used or new. Or just buy online
Death toll, artificially manipulated numbers aside, this doesn't count as a pandemic. It's planned by the ewwish banking mafia and preparation for a major economic collapse and restructuring of society to cater to a system that retarded cattle have already willfully allowed with little residence. But yeah, guess this is pretty broad thing to do with seemingly a cataclysmic doomsday scenario in full bloom.
I can't wait to never do this
HAHAHHAHA true
😂
Currently undergoing this. 0/10 CANNOT recommend. 🤣
I'm doing it right now.
Just finished it, no help, jack too short, and it's freezing cold. No biggie 👍
Dude is an assassin. No lift, by himself, while filming. Doesnt get more impressive than that.
I give you mad props for always doing this kind of stuff in the driveway and on jackstands I got sick of that life I bought me a Lift in the garage
Great content👌🏿I love the simplicity of these cars as much as everything looks crammed up in there. All on the driveway with jack stands and a trolley jack. Keep up the good work. Great motivator for people like us without a lift and huge indoor spaces...we do it in the hot sun😅...
Thank you for your support sir!
Finally someone doing good FA content. Subbed... Cant wait to see what you do with this car.
Big plans :) Thank you for the support
@@BaderBuiltRacing Chavez drives The Evil Trim.
Yes, he did an awesome job in swapping the transmissions. Very informative video. Great job and skills. Not to mention you have great friends to help you and an awesome wife that stands by your side. What else can you ask for. Thank you for sharing this information and the video. I enjoy every bit of it.😎👍
I love all the Subaru’s in your driveway!! 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Longer the vid the better my man. In quarantine I ain’t got shit to do besides watch devin and your vids😂
Thank you for the support! I got plenty more coming!
And this is how you convinced me I just bought everything to swap my 19 wrx
Excellent job !!!! reminds me back in south america Paraguay, where I came from to Vancouver Canada, I do own a 2017 STI and I do really like it.
Very educational! Getting a 2020 sti this year because of your videos
Lets build it!
This is the shit we need on CZcams. Thank you bro, subscribed.
I appreciate the support!
Thanks for the video as we have a 2020 WRX and been looking for appropriate mods
I'll be waiting. Keep up the great work. Thanks for the share!
Why are you such a beast with your mechanical skills bro?
Seriously the best content out there for Subies! Awesome work and I'll be tackling this trans swap now too!
I appreciate that alot! Do it and make all the power :)
Awesome video. I can't wait to see what else you do for the FA WRX
Big things coming :)

I appreciate that alot! Thank you for the support!
I currently have a fa20 wrx and know the transmission will go eventually at around 400whp. I want to get the Sti trans but don’t wanna spend that crazy amount of money on labor. Will most likely do it with my buddies. Thanks for vid
I’m about at that level too with my fa20… would like to go with higher hp… but I’m worried about the transmission.
Very informative. Learnt a lot. Thanks for the awesome content.
Thank you for watching 😁

Awesome video!
600hp is the new 400hp.
Isnt that the truth lol
Felicitaciones buen video! Saludos desde Lima - Perú.
This is going to be another Bad Ass Bader Mobile 🔥.
Gonna be great :)
You can remove the balljoints but another option (easier imo) is drop the top of the knuckle from the shock/coil. Mark the top camber bolt as that has to do with your alignment. Once unbolted pull the knuckle down and towards you and the axle can sneak out of the back no problem. Ball joints can be a pain sometimes especially on older subarus. Also easier to do as one person. Nice video
thanks bro you and your vids are so awesome again thanks for this video bc im doing the same on my 19 wrx!!!!!
I hope i could see some 86/brz engine build in the future! Love the content!
You'll be seeing wrx fa20 soon and thats very similar to brz / 86 lol
The best actual content when it comes to the mechanical aspect of cars! Thank you so much bro you’re making this quarantine feel like nothing haha.. you should invest in a quick jack! I bought mines and it’s the best thing I could of bought!
I appreciate the support man! I have seen those things! Maybe one day if i continue to stay at the house. I have been looking at shops again and then id just get another lift.
A new upload!! What a great way to start the day!! 👌

Future dream plans here for my 17' WRX 👍
Only about to get better :)
No one really does content on the fa20 platform this is awesome! Deff going to blow up!
Alot coming soon :)

Soon as she is around all hell breaks loose lol
Yess more FA videos
Trying to keep them rolling for you guys!
6 subies bro nice, new to your channel, I love it
Greetings baderbuilt this is my first subscription love the contents of your video. I was a big vw guy until I leased my first subbie wrx 19. Then looking on you tube and finding your channel is a plus. Fell in love with subaru wrx abilities and the way it rides except for the turbo lag 1 to 2. But it's a fun car. My tough decision is whether I keep my lease wrx or jump to sti. And seeing that tranformation with the transmission hmmm. I haven't seen all of your video so just wondering how much upgrade did you do to the F A engine. Rods and piston? If you can leave a reply that will be cool. It might help me decide to keep wrx lease or buy sti. Best videos I've seen on subaru.
I literally just got done watching your last video saying I wonder when will he upload then got the notification 😂
MeMe R lol I went to see the comment of mine he hearted and then refreshed his page. Boom new video uploaded 😂
FlacoKing20 haha I love this guys channel he’s so dedicated😂 🙏

Thank you for your support sir!
IVE DONE SEVERAL CLUTCH JOBS ON SOOBS SO IM HOPING MY 6 SPEED SWAP FOR THE VB GOES SMOOTHLY.
This is a great how to video. I do have a question. Will you provide me more detail on how you left the axles in the front wheels?
Been waiting years for a diy sti swap video 🙏
Well here we are! lol
this video is going to continue to get views forever. Good call making the swap video. Also, check the description. Might just be me, but on my end there is no description.
I was hoping to create something helpful. Odd im seeing it on my end sir.
Great content! You should really put where you get these parts so we can do the same!
Brandon Fanning noted!
i agree on this. most people will find it easier to relate. otherwise @bader you are a subaru wizard. excellent content
Yes!
Jeff Spicoli was pushing the engine back towards firewall! Aloha Mr. Hand!
man this video makes me miss my WRX..
and great detailed video.
Hhahahahahahahah
Im late but this is great content
Sick build. More wrx’s at your place than most dealerships haha
I got a problem hahaha
Yes bader lets go this project is turning out so fucking sweet. So excited for the finished project! Question, would you consider doing unequal headers on the fa (if its possible) to try to bring that rumble back, or is that unimportant to you?
Im a big fan of EL headers on a subaru, the drive ability alone is night and day difference, But stay tuned because i have some special plans for this car :)
It’s never straight forward those are dangerous words but You got it covered 🤙
Hahaha you know how it goes! lol
The doggos made me sub.
Hello. Im new to the channel and im impressed by the passion you put in your job. I have a question. I saw a vacuum on the bov of the WRX so how it works. Its circulate the air or? Because i bought the same bov but my turbo is stock and that maybe is a solution for me not to sell my bov. Thanks and i will continue following your channel!
beautiful car
Bro i love your content cause i always learn something new. Can you do this to a fa20dit cvt?
That’s the million dollar question, I have a 14 foz xt with cvt and I would love to put a sti drivetrain in there . But I’m not sure about the electrical components . I plan on hitting up Iwire to see if the can help.
Very impressive and i love the content! Keep it up!
Thank youuuuu!
You ever thought about buying a quickjack? I love mine... I couldn't imagine wrenching at home as much as you do without one.
I definitely have and it would make life so much easier lol
Good to have dogs in these tuf times I hope that swap is successful .
Dude I'm not even gonna complain about the length of the video! 😂Great video - very informative, was good to see the transmissions compared (pile of shit one hahah) and the time lapses are a good way to see the exact work involved! Looking forward to seeing this FA20 STI with well over 400hp 🔥
Hahahah you could read through my bleep. lol I try to make them as informational as i can but no boring. Definitely a hard task sometimes. I appreciate your support and you are gonna love whats coming for this car :)
Sect of the Subarists😁👍
Your neighbors must LOVE you guys lol
They do :)
In the driveway! Nice ☮️
Definitely a harder task but it can be done lol
Will the functionality of the sti mode selector and DCCD portion of the cluster be able to be utilized with this swap? Great video, I can’t wait to see this grow into a monster!
Would definitely love to know if DCCD will work with this
Good question..was gonna ask this same thing
@@Kanadian-Squirrel he sold the car and still hasn’t replied I don’t think we will ever find out… not on here at least.
😔 world will never know
@@Kanadian-Squirrel there is a plug and play called dccd pro makes everything work like factory
Nice man bro do you swap the cluster gauges
I recently got my 2020 wrx and I already order my Sti transmission swap!!
Good man!!
_BaderBuilt your videos are really going to help when it comes down to actually putting in my driveline
kevin sanchez where did you order from?
Alex Peguero jdmracingmotors.com
kevin sanchez I found it, they’re running like $5,000+ 😕
Hey man, doing descriptions and tags will get you tons more views, the views you deserve!
Im assuming you mean in description area?
@@BaderBuiltRacing Yes sir. Tags are just key words that people search up, so that your video will pop up when they search those words. As many as possible!!! You have the content for sooooo many views man your doing so good!
Thank you sir, I been filling those in when I upload the videos so hopefully they are working.
@@BaderBuiltRacing Keep the golden fire content coming my friend!
This is exactly what I'm doing... sti with fa engine. Future plans haha.
Great video. Definitely made a subscriber out of me.
Nice content, with enough willpower, you can do anything on a driveway!
All said and done, do you think it will have been more expensive to do the FA swap with the harness and ECU swap than what you did?
Thats a great question, I doubt the FA engine / harness swap would be more expensive. I honestly didnt even think of that route lol
First video Ive watched of your. So curious but would the transmission wiring from iWire fix the DCCD settings as well? Thanks for the video. A pleasure to watch and nice to see someone working with the FA20F. Really love these vehicles though I got a GRF over the VAG wanting the DCCD.
The particular wiring i bought will not fix the DCCD , it is just to connect the reverse / neutral position switch ect. Now the I-Wire wiring does have the DCCD wiring coming off the harness which is very simple only 2 wires.
If you buy a DCCD pro / Spyder DCCD ect standalone unit the dccd system works great and those are super easy to install. Now im going to try the more difficult route of attempting to figure out OEM and get it hooked up to OEM switch on center console and Gauge Cluster. I may be successfull or i may not. Not sure yet.
@@BaderBuiltRacing Understood, wishing you the best kind sir. Either way a good learning experience and a great project. Thanks for the wisdom.
Do you notice the extra weight of the drivetrain? Also what about the traction control and torque vectoring. Does the LCD affect its working? Do you need to disable the TCS system?
So I'm pretty sure I missed this but how did you guys get the Dccd display on the dash? Does it automatically show up through the can bus when a sti transmission is plugged in? And what options are there for dccd controls?
great video! i really want to do this. i have done my homework on this and have already called my tune shop for the job. its pretty expensive being i dont have the know how to do this or the people that can help me but my car is paid off so i have time.
Curious how much they quoted you for. Also if anyone can confirm if the DDCD is needed for the swap to the FA motor that’d be huge help.
@@xil3ntkha0s man it was a lot. Like $2500 in parts and $1600 labor. A day for all the bolt ons and an afernoon for the tune. I have had the tune for more than a year but it has ran well. You really want to do your research.
@@jameskocks4734 damn lol if only I could DIY
@@xil3ntkha0s oh shit im sorry i misread. I thout it was something else. I have not done this yet. Its about $6800 for parts and labor. The previous message was for bolt ons and tune. That price is for used parts too. New its a out 10k.
@@jameskocks4734 lol damn guess I'll wait for the new STi if I want the FA series motor and this transmission. I was like ehh 4k isn't too bad 🤣🤣🤣
Love the content and the series! Question, what did u do to allow yourself to change where the power goes? Does the sti middle console just plug into the transmission and ecu so u can select where the power goes from sti transmission? Basically what I’m saying is it all plug and play?
Im working on making the oem DCCD controls work, i may be successful or i may not be. If not there is a few standalone units ive used in the past that work great and are easy to install.
_BaderBuilt that would be good to see. I wanted to do something similar but hadn’t known if it been done before.
Are you doing the brakes as well? If so, I wonder how different the BMC is between the STI and the WRX? It’s not really an STI until she got big brakes. Love this build! This WRX has the same FA engine as the BRZ/FRS right? Sorry for all the questions, love your channel, more of a Mitsubishi guy. But, can’t help but love Suburu’s as well.
Only thing on the fa that bkth cars share is the short block
The FA20DIT could be great if it wasn't so limited on fueling which is the limiting factor to more HP for it, even with the Nostrum HPFP it still doesn't pump or generate anymore fuel then stock because of the mechanical restriction and limitations, you basically would have to run a ridiculous expensive setup to control everything in the fuel system, eventually a shop may chase a record number but its a hefty cost.
Upgrade fuel pump
My WRX is a 2017 lapis blue and Im doing a STI drivetrain swap…This video was meant to be, thank you Bader 🙌 I’ll hit you up for a potential E-Tune when she’s ready. #BBRTuned
Did you install a STi gauge cluster? How did you get the DCCD info on the gauge cluster?
great content...i have a 2020 wrx and i am looking to do the STI Drivetrain swap...... if you can let me know where is a good place to get parts would be greatly appreciated.
_BaderBuilt so if I wanted to mate a ej257 with a TL70 trans. It should be pretty straight forward? Use the brz clutch. Seeing a fa20dit mates to sti trans don’t see why it would work the other way around. And yes I’m aware of the limitations of the TL70.
Hey there, these modifications were done in a private shop to a 2019 Subaru wrx. They called me to get the STI instrument cluster working for the wrx with the diff mods. Obviously they want the readings to display on the cluster hence the wrx to sti instrument cluster swap. How do I get it programmed to the ecu? It seems to work but I think some prep work is needed to get the keys programmed to it to have it started. How or where did you accomplish this at?
Also thank you in advanced for any information provided.
I didn't think the gauge cluster was swappable. Is it full functioning? As in, when selecting/adjusting your DCCD will it display accurately? The only options I have seen for DCCD is from companies such as DDCD Pro.
How much did this run you? I'm not looking to go big power or anything, but would love to have the best driving version possibly of an FA WRX (I'm one year into owning my 2019, and I love it...BUT driving the friends STI just feels so much better transmission wise).
Awesome video man! What Headunit do you have in the wrx? Is it plug and play? Looking to upgrade my HU in my 2018 STI
Thank you sir! Its a android stereo and they are plug and play!
_BaderBuilt do you remember what brand it was?
9” android 9.0 head unit 👍
How did the dccd work. Did you have to get something to program it in the dash? And what about the rear diff temp sensor. I don't think the wrx has one.
Have u done same swap on cvt wrx?
Coz my friend have cvt 2015 wrx looking over to get rid that slushy mushy rubberband box (we never got 6mt option for wrx locally)
My 2022 WRX 6MT uses the old 6MT (Long input shaft) that Subi has been using. Given that, the mounting points etc. must be the same. The driveshaft might be different though. I am almost certain that the 2022 uses the same open rear diff that Subi has been using in combo with the old 6MT.
--I wonder if the STI trans can be fitted to 2022. ??
Do you happen to know if you can use the R160? I would think you can if you put a WRX rear flange on the STI driveshaft as long as the rear reduction ratio matches..?
Do you have a parts list of everything you have done to the WRX? I am guessing the headunit is not OEM.
Will this WRX be getting a FA24? Would be interesting to see that swap especially since they are known to hold 500whp on stock internals.
How did you pull the axles out without dropping the tire and shock guessing pop tie rods off?
Do you need the sti gauge cluster and the sti transmission selector mode thing? Also, i just subscribed. Really interested in this swap and your content!
No sir it’s not needed for this swap, I’m just trying to give everyone what they originally wanted and that’s a FA sti
@@BaderBuiltRacing thanks!
I need to start looking for an sti transmission out here in Cali I’m almost at 400 with 🌽
I see your bov is on the top. How did you do this? It’s definitely relocated since it’s usually on the bottom next to the turbo.
It’s the Hks recirculating bov kit
Wouldn't it be more cost effective to buy an sti then swap out the ej for an fa or does the fa not fit the same?
So you just pop your ball joints out and you can pull axels?
