Replacing the Trigger, the new Hornet is powered by the Unicorn 160's bigger motor which generates more power and torque. The Honda CB Hornet 160R is the best looking commuter motorcycle from Honda in India yet and comes with some nice hardware including wide tyres and wave discs, it also gets CBS as an option on the top trim which also gets 3-pot Nissan callipers at the front (2-pot callipers for the standard variant).
The Honda CB Hornet 160R is priced attractively to take on the Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha FZ, the current top sellers in the segment. The motorcycle is offered in two variants and is priced from Rs. 79,990/- (ex-showroom, Delhi).

I notice all journalists mention mileage and pickup... hope you guys make a difference by mentioning the braking efficiency too... I think, things like brake feel and braking distance are just as important in making my buying decision.

disappointed by engine tuning. I hate to rev bike in city traffic. and what is use of stiff suspension on our bad Indian roads.
+Dhaval D they did something similar with the Unicorn 160 too.
+Dhaval D Stiff suspension = better handling, worst comfort. There is a trade off always. Hope the lowest suspension setup might help. But I believe still should satisfy many with this amount of power in City
stiff suspension has its use at appropriate places. but nowhere on any of city roads. I own unicorn 150. and it also has same problem. where pulsar glides and go ahead, I have to slow down to take jerks. I don't know how stiff is Hornet's sprint is though.

My first bike was Dazzler, eventhough it had it's share of flaws I liked my dazzy for its upright seating posture, solid engine and gear box. However switch gear and overall build quality (apart from engine and gearbox ofcourse) was pathetic for a Honda.
I have ridden my friends gixxer, its an awesome bike for it's handling, awesome engine (for city riding) and the overall build quality. The only downside is it's riding posture which puts a lot of strain on the wrists (atleast for me).
Hornet from the looks of it cleared most of the flaws of dazzler (apart from the switch gear :O).

+MotorBeam I used to get more than 55 easily on my dazzy, one more reason to like it :) But that was mostly because good village roads in my place and sane riding, rarely crossed 70 kmph. If you ride dazzler in 55-60 most of the time, I think 55 kmpl is easily achievable.
+ranju1729 that's very good mileage. Our Gixxer gives us 46 km/l while the Unicorn 160 in our fleet returns 50 km/l.

in honda cb hornet is cbs variant good or std variant good for new riders and rural roads because i have heard that cbs causes problems while braking on turns and it is also difficult to adjust cbs brakes at a later stage

Very detailed and good review guys. Guyzz could you highlight the differences between unicorn 160 cbs and hornet 160r cbs in terms of Vibrations, Low end punch, gear box and cbs. I myself own Unicorn 160 CBS and i pretty much liked it Except for gear box.

How is the seating position for you on hornet.... I am 6', 3".. i own a gixxer.. Initially i felt the bike to be well positioned for my height.. but on long term use, found that the foot positioning is not so great.. i face trouble changing gears and also need to fold my ankle a lot to keep my foot of the ground.. and on long 100+ kms, i need to take more breaks than any other bikes just bcoz of seating.. i have noticed that sitting on pillon seat is much comfortable than sitting on the driver seat... yes i tested this while riding on a long drive... do let me know as you seem to be of my height...

Hello faisal khan, Currently i am facing one problem in my hornet 160r feom last 6 months and now i have completed 10000km, the rear tyre skids 3 times when i try to maneuver in traffic and also while cornering. After that i ride it like a normal bike. All confidence gone. I think this fat rear mrf zapper tyre are for name sake. Please help.
i have heared that due to CBS front tyre skits on a grainy road when only rear brake is applied .. so whom to choose CBS or without CBS model .. confused ..?

I really love this Bike than gixxer because it have wider pillion seat (More comfortable),Aggressive look,New features from Honda( CBS,Wider tyres and It has Power than Unicorn 160),and also It's a Honda Product (I am telling this because My father is using Honda Shine 2008 model..and We didn't have to face any Problem with this Bike..So we trust in the quality of products from Honda)

+Viswanath.P. Nair 1) yes CBS is worth the extra money as you also get a rear disc. 2) No, the FZ V2 has the best efficiency. 3) switching off the engine with keys isn't as quick a job, specially when you come to a halt at a signal.

Rocking guys. Very nice review. The motorcycle ticks every box for a super hit, except the switch gears. but that's a known thing from Honda. Few of my impressions
1. Fit and finish levels, very well
2. Design, Aptly designed
3. Performance, impressed
4. Braking, good
5. Dashboard, good, analog tacho could've impressed me more
6. Saree guard, superb and have never seen such before
A good product from Honda and really a tough competitor for Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha Fz. Let's see next month sales.

Honda keeps bringing new models into 150CC segment but never offers engine kill switch.... Why is it so difficult guys? I have Honda Unicorn Dazzler and missing Kick start, Engine kill switch are a big deal for me in this bike....

I bought special edition hornet 1 month back and after completing 750-800 kms mileage is completly dropped, now iam getting only 30kpl and also when i pull the accelarator beyond 5k rpm bike starts jerking also engine gives some unususal sound. when i said this to mechanic at first service they told it will be fixed automatically after 3 services. Is it true ?
