    Girlfriend ho to hornet, or na ho to gixxer. Simple

  • @MikBan
    @MikBan Před 8 lety +154

    What i understood is Hornet has more power up top where Gixxer has a good low and mid range.. that is why in gear acceleration is better in Gixxer.. but What I do not agree with you is the look.. Hornet doesn't look bad but Gixxer has more curves and the design is futuristic. But what I'm surprised to hear that Hornet has a better handling?? I mean really? Gixxer is like the best handling bike ever..

    • @MotorBeam
      @MotorBeam  Před 8 lety +9

      +Mik. Ban Gixxer has good handling but the Hornet offers more grip and once you get used to it, it feels more composed due to the higher weight.

    • @MikBan
      @MikBan Před 8 lety +2

      MotorBeam understood.. What about front end feedback in the hornet ? Vague or as communicative as Gixxer's

    • @MsCooldude16
      @MsCooldude16 Před 8 lety +7

      Just look how the rider looks when they ride both the bikes. the rider on the hornet looks puny and weird due to the big size of the bike. The grip on handle looks and feels very commuter like. The gixxer looks and feels to suit the typical Indian Physique perfectly. The slightly more committed seating is the highlight of a streetfighter which the hornet misses out.

    • @SuyashKaul
      @SuyashKaul Před 8 lety +7

      +MsCooldude16 Indian physique? I am 6", I have friends of 5'3 and 6'3 ranging from 52 to 114kgs. What is Indian physique? Gixxer is more committed hence less comfy as stated and Hornet is big but more suited to a guy like me so it being comfortable bad for a bike? Both r very good so a guy shud choose acc to his need size and personal preference. Generally Taller guys like big bulky bikes..

    • @MsCooldude16
      @MsCooldude16 Před 8 lety +5

      Talking about the general Indian Height. Not about "your height". Your friends with lower height would be more comfortable with the gixxer.

    LOL...In another video he compares gixxer with hornet and pulsar ns 160 and picks gixxer as the winner...Man can you make up your mind first?

  • @pulikutty474
    @pulikutty474 Před 8 lety +43

    Based on what parameters hornet wins here, the reasons given in the video are vague, Shortcomings of the bike as observed from the video:
    1)The bike is not true to its power on paper (15.8 ps)
    2) Despite having a bigger engine it fails in in-gear acceleration (Lazy ASS Honda did not bother to change the gearing from uni 160)
    3) In outright acceleration (0-100) the difference from gixxer is in milliseconds only (Again poor engineering, does not put the power properly on road)
    4) Most cycle parts are carried over from old models (chassis, headlight same as commuter unicorn, console same as trigger)
    5) Heck even the top speed diff is too low to even matter
    6)Finally the "fantastic" CBS praised in the video comes at nearly 1 lakh on road with the bike lacking DC lighting, proper switch gear and radial tyres at that price
    Positives : Better pillion seat, 3 pot calipers in front and "Wave discs", lol (BTW even duke 390 has a round disc)
    Honda is a hugely successful manufacturer in India, with their profit margins they could have done much better instead we get this!

      +Puli Kutty remember our test bike was brand new and thus needs a running in and change of oil to post better numbers.
      In-gear isn't great because power is top-end centric, so more fun in higher revs.
      Duke 390's braking isn't great, as we all know!

    • @VARUNKUMAR-sh7lb
      @VARUNKUMAR-sh7lb Před 8 lety

      +MotorBeam 2015 Yamaha R1 also has round discs, so according to you it doesn't brake well? and the upcoming bmw g310r also has round discs, must be bad in braking I guess :P
      Petal discs are purely cosmetic!

    • @Mr008Rohit
      @Mr008Rohit Před 8 lety +4

    We have both Gixxer and Hornet at our home. Mine is a Gixxer bought 1 year back and my brother has a hornet bought 2 months back. I sort of like both bikes and both are unique bikes. Hornet is more of an all rounder and where gixxxer has its ups and downs. I like Gixxer as far as looks are concerned but hornet holds its own with a neat design. i felt hornet to be a bit more refined both in terms of engine and looks but gixxer is close by. Hornet's power delivery is good in mid range and top end but is not great at lower Rpmswhich makes you shift your gears more often in city conditions but gixxer has more grunt in lower and mid range RPMS which make for relatively easier handling in heavy traffic conditions. Were Gixxer scores real high over hornet is at the rideability areana. Gixxer is one bike that you can happily throw around corners and is great fun to ride. You have to ride the bike to feel it.Its all about fun but its low ground clearance is a curse. Hornet is bit more stiff and provides better straight line sability and slightly better breaking. I heard that gixxer has a now released a version with the option of disk breaks at the back so that should even out the breaking efficiency of both bikes. When it comes to the bike to choose from,It all boils down to what ultimately you as a rider expects from your bike. If you are some one who likes a hassle free bike wihich is an all rounder then hornet should be your choice but if you are looking for a bike which is fun to ride and is an engaging package with x factor and is willing to over look miner glitches then Gixxer is the bike for you. After sales service of Gixxer is not great but you wont have to regularly visit the service station as it is a solid bike far better than the earlier susuki bikes [ mine has cover 12,000 odd KMs with regular service].We have both Gixxer and Hornet at our home. This review has been really helpful in choosing my bike. I had taken a test ride of Gixxer before watching this and was certain of owning one but decided to give hornet a try and was not disappointed at all. The best thing about a honda is the refined vibration less engine which is tweaked in hornet to give better performance in the range 30 to 70 kmph. Acceleration felt linear with the throttle. And then comes the suspension which I personally felt smoother than gixxer. Wider handles felt way better for leaning but I wish they had put metal end tips on them. Chain in hornet has a peculiar sound which adds to the ride but no big deal, killswitch is a miss. Hornet has a taller seating so being 184 cm, feels well positioned and upright. Totally happy with CB hornet, excitement everyday to and fro since six months, Thanks for the video!!

  • @ravinschannel

    I own a Gixxer and I don't find this offensive. I want Honda to bring in the engine kill switch, it is really useful especially in our congested cities. Suzuki must improve on their paint job, their service network and the harsh gear shift. The pillion seat on the Gixxer is annoying to the rider and the pillion. I don't know about the ride and handling of a Hornet, but I am satisfied with the Gixxer's.

    gixxer looks cheaper but for riders its best !! FZs is my choice for city riding specially small cities with larger crowed and narrow roads , you get FI with powerful break !! Hornet is also good choice specially new colors if you ride on highways normally !!
    BUT FOR city ride within 90 kmph
    there is no bike more suitable then 1.FZs ( first because FI and powerful break and awesome look with great pillion seat ) and 2.gixxer ( on the second because of looks and pillion seat )
    ITS simple , no confusion !!
    All bikes are good , don't think too much , buy them and enjoy safe ride !!

    I think Hornet 160R is a better bike than Gixxer 150. Now many will argue that gixxer is better. Frankly speaking its related to requirements so if anyone is needed to select which bike is better don't be biased, get a test ride then decide. Each bike has some pros and cons.
    For me Hornet is better the reasons are:
    1. Good city milage around 53kmpl+ I am getting and on highway around 60kmpl+ which I find great as daily I travel around 50kms (with traffic).
    2. Good seat for the rider as well as for the pillion. For weekend tours where we travel for 100kmph constantly with minor fluctuations to 80kmph sometimes we get around 48kmpl+ milage, and most important is that the seat is so comfy that neither the rider or pillion needs to stop for 1 and half hours. Infact the seating position is simply awesome.
    3. Brakes are awesome.
    4. All 150cc category bikes fall in the category of sports commuter so no matter whatever we try at the end of day they are all fast city commuters they are not racing machines. So guys who ever is saying gixxer is faster and can beat hornet or pulsar so let me assure one thing when it comes to streets it all depends on the rider mostly. I have bitten gixxer many times with my hornet. But if someone really wants a racing bike please go for KTM duke/RC 200 or 390 they have more of BHP for torque as well as Power.

    Well i can't possibly fathom why most of the Educated Folks is retorting that It's a paid Review by MOTORBEAM & #mb is biased towards Honda! Like seriously, have u guys seen the Earlier videos rendered by MB, say for eg the review of Fzs fi vs Suzuki Gixxer vs Honda cb unicorn 160..MOTORBEAM had clearly stated on that review & even declared Gixxer as the winner Hands down! So why don't you said that time MOTORBEAM was biased?
    Actually if you folks think you are leagues ahead of MOTORBEAM candid Blog, then go ahead & create your own blog!!
    I am following MB since 2008 & nowhere did i ever observed that they were kinda biased!
    I have had my brief Romance with Fzs fi & Gixxer, & I can easily conclude the Fzs fi is the better bike of the two! Acceleration is not the only parameter to reckon when you Purchase a Bike! Sure its costly but Add fuel injection to Gixxer & get ready for Facepalm!
    I have recently taken comprehensive test ride of Cb hornet 160R & my mind changed in a jiffy, earlier I was a fan of Gixxer too!!

    Hi,
    I am currently driving a 2009 CBZ Xtreme...It has done 60,000 km and is doing pretty good...
    Right now, I am confused whether I should buy a new bike or should I wait for some more time...
    Please answer my below questions...
    1.What is the life span of a motorcycle?Is this the right time to buy a new bike?My bike has been maintained properly, both tyres have been changed in 2015 and it is running without any major problems.Should I buy a new bike or can I wait for some more time?
    2.If I want to buy a new bike, which one should I buy?I like Honda Hornet, Suzuki Gixxer and Bajaj Avenger Street 220.I like the Avenger because of unmatched comfort and looks, but I was told that it is good only in a straight line and is prone to skidding.

      +MotorBeam The handling of a motorcycle is judged based on how well the motorcycle is able to tackle corners, how easy it is to maneuver, how planted to the tarmac and how stable it is and also how much feedback it offer the rider. In this respect, the Gixxer wins over the Hornet 160R. If Honda would have put MRF Revvs tyres like on the Gixxer instead of MRF Zappers, it would have greatly improved the feedback and handling of the Hornet. In my opinion, if you change the tyres on the Hornet to a better one, the Hornet and the Gixxer are equal...and the frame what we call chassis is better in GIXXER.. ...

    @MotorBeam - Now i am confused....for the same commuter usability standpoint, a comment 3 weeks back (Aayush Srivastava) you suggested Hornet, and for a comment 6 days back (KAMAL SONI) you suggested Gixxer.. -_-
    I have to choose between the two - Hornet 160R and Gixxer SF (don't want the naked Gixxer)..... Requirements are looks, mileage and maintenance... Usage everyday commuting occasional long drives. Below are my problems for the two....
    Gixxer ---- I have heard due to low ground clearance, many faced sratches while encountering speedbrakes. Is it true..? If so it hampers my decision to buy it. Also can I have front crash bars on the sporty body of Gixxer SF ?
    Hornet ---- Nothing bad in terms of riding experience, but if I do take this bike along with its normal looks, would have to live with the old digital display and crappy looking front panel switchgear.
    These are my thoughts, any help in making me choose one is really appreciated.. :)

      +gaurab biswas Seriously? Don't cry. Gixxer is not a bad bike. Think about my situation, I had the budget to buy a CBR 150R but chose the Gixxer and I am satisfied with it, i feel it to be more practical for our cities. (My opinion)

    I've done 2K Kms with hornet (CBS). It's fun to ride in city as well as on highways. I can cruise 80-90 KMH with ease with out any vibration. If I ride it 50-55 KMH in city, it returns 50kmpl.

      Is it worth paying more for cbs version rather than the single disc variant? I have also heard that cbs robs away the feedback that would be obtained from the hornet .Please give me elaborate opinions on this as I was thinking of buying the hornet over the gixxer. I have to travel a total of 40 km on a daily basis, so I think the hornet might suit me more.

    a really good comparision motorbeam .
    always go for honda bikes because they have better engine technologies and provide great performance even after decent usage for some years.
