You mentioning agencies, yet ive found the ones who specialize in driving, all want.......................experience also. 😞 Im not worried about wage at first, id work low wage just to get gain said experience, and then move onto something else. I only passed a week ago, applied for around 20 jobs, not heard a peep back. Granted, only been going through the job sites and mailing in CVs, will take a different approach and getting on the phone to them now. "Edit" Got on the phone today, first call, ive got something lined up for the start of the new year.
Well I wish I could say no experience no worries. I find the reversing test a total waste of time, it is just not fit for purpose. I never had problem with that and I thought I have fairly decent understanding what to do (for a new pass) yet when I was given a chance to attend an assessment when faced with a tight yard (not much room to bring the unit forward) I found it very difficult to create a right angle. I was either going too wide or I run out of room to bring the cab around. They should teach this at driving schools. I made a right fool out of myself lol.
When i was taking my lessons, i asked the instructor if i could have some time to just practice reversing, i was told, you will learn that when you get a job. People might laugh at this, something what really helped me with reversing, buying euro truck simulator 2,, setting up a steering wheel on my PC, not bothering too much with the game itself, just constantly practising reversing. It honestly helped me out on how a trailer behaves.
@@Glenn7719 I know how to steer. I mean how trailer behaves. I played ets2 too. I Still do occasionally. It is a different ball game once you have to do it and there is not a lot of space up front.
@@blacov89 I mean it helped me at the start, during my lessons i did get to have some goes at reversing, into bays, parallel parking and seemed to do ok. Of course, like anything, big difference between a game and real life.
@@Glenn7719 Of course. I believe if I had a full day at reversing at some RDC I would make big progress. I wouldn't be very good obviously but I think I'd be able to do it slowly in most places.

In regard to the 14 hour shift and the breaks, it depends what times you take them but I did a 15 min, then 30 and then that covers you for over 9 hours but if required or just to play it safe I some times did another 15. I haven't had any infringements so it must work
I would if I was you, I'm looking for shunter work to get that experience...if you don't like it... leave but if you don't try you'll never know.. Good luck.

There’s a lot of jobs out there at the moment tipper work too, just ask if your not sure there’s always an experienced driver that will help you out!

New passes have no chance until a yr in. Im 5mths in and years class 2 and still nothing

Nope deffo harder jobs, more inner city work and running around town, having to worry bout cyclists every 5 minutes
lorry driving is very anti social hours theres no 9 to 5 driving jobs
