DIY Cat Toys - How to Make a Cat Tent

- Welcome to the Friskies Do-It-Yourself Toy Maker Series! Watch this video to learn how to build a cozy tent for your feline friend!
You'll need:
- A 15 inch by 15 inch piece of card board
- 1 medium T-shirt
- 2 wire coat hangers
- Tape
- A bunch of safety pins
- 1 pair of pliers
What to do:
- Start by cutting the hooks off of the hangers.
- Push one end of a hanger into the corner of your cardboard so that about 1 inch pokes through the other side.
- With your pliers, bend the end of the hanger at a 90 degree angle.
And secure it to the cardboard with a piece of tape.
- Take the other end of the wire and push that through the opposite corner of the cardboard.
- Bend the end and secure it in place with tape as well.
- Repeat this on the other corners with the 2nd wire.
- With a small piece of tape, secure the point where the wires intersect.
- Take your shirt and put your tent frame inside it.
- Using the safety pins, secure the bottom of the shirt and its sleeves to the bottom of the tent.
- Throw in a nice soft bedding and your cat is ready for camping in the family room!

Hey guys, I made a little nest for my cat, out of a plastic storage box… you know, the ones with a lid. The hardest part was cutting a hole/entrance in one end of the box. You might have to enlist someone who is handy with tools etc, to assist you. We used an industrial heat gun, the type painters use to dry the pain quickly, to soften the plastic, so we could cut through it. Once the entrance is cut out, all you have to do is put soft bedding inside etc… and put the lid on. If it’s a clear plastic box, throw a rug over the top, to make it feel more secure and private. You can also add a heated pet pad inside, for cosiness. The pad with electric cord would have to be inserted through the entrance (unless you created another opening elsewhere).
Anyway, It’s cool ! Sturdy and cosy. Cats can sit on top of it also. Add a rug on top for a cool place to perch. 👍❤️

Just made one of these 3 hours ago. 15 mins after I made it, my cat Indie dozed off in it. He's still in it 3 hours later after waking up a few times and not coming out. Great video and Indie loves it. Although He likes the feel of paper and cardboard so left the soft stuff out for him.

I just made this myself and I got to say my cats love it! One of them ran Inside right when I put it down. The other one didn't even have a chance to see what it was. He just sat their waiting for his turn in the tent! Thank you so much!

I love this but instead of pins I just used duct tape! I used pins but I had two kittens & they would climb on the outside and got hurt by the pins so duct tape to the rescue! And I used a really neat looking Camo tape on a green shirt & cut the sleeves off so there were three holes & the kittens just loved being sneaky & jumping in out of all three "windows"

These crafts are adorable! I have five cats and I can't always afford to buy toys for five cats! So these are a good solution for that!

My cat seriously love this tent I made her she is sleeping in it right now I'm really surprised every time I try to make her something she takes one look and Carries on with her day. Not only does she like it but my other two cats love the idea thank you so much!!!!

It was relatively easy for me to make because I used thin hangers that you could bend with your hands and strong duct tape. I put it near my cat and he surprisingly curled up in it immediately. I was pretty doubtful at first but it really worked!

My cat loves this. I made it then strait after, I put it on my bed next to where he was laying and after a few cat treats he went inside it and currently still is inside it. Thankyou he loves it!!!!!!

Me and my brother tried to do this because we are bored in quarantine and it came out pretty good. We didn't have a shirt that would fit so I just used a really stretchy old black night gown and it worked perfectly our cat loved it✨💜

BrightHeart AJ it won't cut it but you should use it to scratch the metal hanger then you bend it back and forth till it breaks by itself.
that's how I did it.
Great idea, BUT, from a veterinarian point of view , the wire can snap and seriously hurt the cat , cats have a tendency to eat tape and some can be toxic, some cats even eat cardboard (which is usually not toxic) which will make the wire snap , and the cat can be trapped inside if the wires snap , possibly injuring the cat as well. You want to make a cat house without spending money and time , get a big cardboard box, make a hole in it (not too high not too low) more than big enough for your cat or cats to get in and out easily , and voila . If you are not sure about the tape toxicity, just overlap the flaps of the box and you don't even need tape . but an old blanket inside and your cat will be ok .
I am a Veterinarian , and i have a little too many clients coming to me because their cat ate tape so guys be careful .
