- The Spiritus Systems TAPS Upgrade Kit is a comprehensive solution for retrofitting an issued Tactical Assault Panel to increase its functionally, ergonomics, and adaptability. The kit comes with the following components:
MOLLE SACK Pouch: The MOLLE SACK Pouch features the same pouch form factor as the standard SACK Pouch and can be used to store and IFAK or other equipment the user might need to keep centerline on the body. THE MOLLE mounting wings can be rotated to pass through the bottom row of the MOLLE webbing and then rotated back to lock in the pouch. Other MOLLE items can be mounted over the SACK’s mounting tabs.
Fat Strap: The Fat Strap replaces the standard TAP Y harness and improves fit when used in conjunction with ruck sacks or other load bearing equipment. The flat back connector panel on the Fat Strap will not interfere with other straps, and will connect with the included MOLLE-mounted Fastex buckles.
Back Strap: The Back Strap replaces the integrated bottom waist strap in the standard TAP Y harness and provides a more secure fit when wearing the Tactical Assault Panel. This second anchor point will keep heavy items like radios tight against the body and reduce equipment slop.
Bungee Retention Kit: The Bungee Retention kit replaces the standard hook & loop magazine flaps. Spiritus Systems Bungee Retention Tabs are quieter, and replace the standard magazine retention system which is prone to hook and loop degradation.
Radio Bungee Retention Kit: The TAPS Upgrade Kit comes with four radio bungee retention tabs that can mount to the outer four pockets of the Tactical Assault Panel. The included hook & loop tabs feature barrel locks to adjust the shock cord tension on radios and other equipment.
Female Fastex Buckles: The four included split-back female Fastex buckles are mounted onto the outer loops of the MOLLE panel to provide secure clip-in points for the Fat Strap and Back Strap.
Posi-Lock zipper pull loop: The zipper pull loop replaces the oversized zipper tab on the inside admin pocket panel. - Jak na to + styl
Still use a TAPS regularly and this is an amazing idea. A lot of units only allow the use of the issued TAPS and this will help out us line infantryman be more efficient and effective at our job. Pretty cool to see a company not tailor their entire product line at just the special operations/civilian kits and make something for us basic 11B's.
it's not surprising us conventional scum get left out with so many companies being run by former SOF guys. it's their prerogative but there's a much bigger market of conventional versus special operations. maybe not unit funds but we still get paid individually
I just switched to reserves as a 37F. Went from being able to run anything I want to only issued gear :(
One perk to being in the guard is that we’re so underfunded command doesn’t mind if we buy our own stuff because the new guys still get issued acu pattern gear

@@panjandrum281 thats rough buddy
This is incredibly well timed, the Commander of the 82nd just released a policy requiring us to wear only issue gear. The policy also requires us to use full gear for every ruck. While most may not get away with the new dangler they'll surely get use out of all the other stuff. It'd be awesome if you could make a version of the dangler tabs that could be used to hang an issued MOLLE pouch the same way.
Funnily enough I just got back from Poland and had upgraded my whole setup with Spiritus kit. Just in time to have to store it, LOL.
Don't ya love the military?😂😭
Damn I thought the 101 was wack 😂
Did these SNCOs and Officers just ignore the lessons learned during two decades of GWOT experience? Jeez louise.
Seems like a lot of the army is moving that way for some reason it’s annoying at
@@gerryanderson6378 I don't think a lot of the GWOT SNCOs and Officers are in the Military anymore.
This is why I love spiritus systems
Spiritus Systems loves you
I’d like to see more companies start making gear to modify issued gear to get around units that act like fudds
"This is a destructive process."

That's awesome. I'm seeing more units require "issue only kit" and this is enhances the usefulness/capabilities of that kit. Keep up the great work!
Individualism scary
@@PisternatorTV that “individualism” becomes innovation of which the whole world now is copying. helmet harnesses to helmet mounts. rail attachments to scopes and clothing material blends to pocket placement and cut makes a soldier’s life easier, safer and comfortable was possible because of “individualism”.
@@thestevecbr broski I was being sarcastic
@@PisternatorTV oops my bad. rock on!
@@PisternatorTV honestly the only thing I've ever seen at least SNCOs harp on is IFAK placement, and even then they didn't really care as long as it had obvious markings on it.
A lot of Marine units use the taps system. It would be great if this was also available in coyote brown.
This is why I love you guys. You see a gap in the market and you fill it. You never forget about the conventional guys who don’t get issued Gucci shit or often aren’t allowed to wear it even if they’ve bought it.
love seeing y’all making gear for the regular infantryman.
Just purchased a micro fight, but I’ll definitely be recommending this to all my guys who prefer to run issued gear.
Spiritus product development team is ze best
I bought my own TAPS because I hated the FLC so much, and kept it when I got out. Definitely going to outfit it with this to be a more capable chest rig.
USMC uses these too, issued out to victor units to deploy with. Really only ever used attached to plate carriers via the aforementioned adaptor kit. In typical Marine Corps fashion it is Coyote Brown. I share your sympathy of distaste for the Velcro straps. I must say, I love the addition of a shock cord retention system. It really builds confidence in the system to not lose magazines while operating. I am a fan of the spud pouch being present for smokes, flashbangs, or possibly star clusters (though I haven’t seen anyone try that yet). I will say the one thing I enjoyed about this in particular, especially in conjunction with the Gen III plate carriers, was the presence of kangaroo pouches. I find these extremely helpful for carrying notebooks, maps, pens, batteries, calculators, TSE/ SSE baggies, and the occasional chem light. Many marines became accustomed to the Gen II plate carrier with the kangaroo pouch and I think this translated over well for them. Though I will say the ability to operate a dangler reduces the necessity of these inner pouches. I’m always impressed by the thoughtfulness and meaningful innovation of the Spiritus team, it keeps me coming back consistently. Keep up the great work.
This is a pretty awesome concept and honestly if this is a preview of things to come with spiritus, I wouldn’t doubt seeing spiritus grabbing some contacts to modernize existing issues gear through big army
Let’s get this beaut back in stock! I’d like to upgrade my kit, command only allows issued gear atm.
Just put this kit together on my TAPs, its like night and day. Incredible comfort and weight distribution. I cannot wait to field test this. Looking into the CCS pouch as well
Cool idea. I ditched my taps for a Haley heavy rig years ago. This looks like a decent alternative to buying one
Definitely going to get this for the taps. 3ID is being ultra anal with issued gear since we got the MSV and new helmets. Going indef in 3 years and my mindset gear wise is simple: User friendly.
This kit y'all made for the TAPS is just that. Thank you for this!
Great stuff , well done. Wish you guys had released this about 10 months ago though. I upgraded a TAPs in a similar fashion but it took me about a month to figure out what pieces I needed to make it all work. May get your upgrade kit anyway just to try it out though.
My unit likes to do full kit (a lot of us still get issued Gen 2 IOTV) but I can definitely see the practicality of this for range days with the boys.
Just what the doctors ordered mate.! With specific mods for customisation & functionality. The more we watch your show, the more we learn how to customize out rig & kit. Cowabunga Digger.!
I used my taps for SERE and it did the job, but your upgrade kit would have made it infinitely better and more user friendly.
I’m still using T.A.P.S and I will continue to use it honestly. These upgrades were overdue and I’ll probably consider them.
this reminded me of the Y harness and H harness (called suspender at that time) in the old LC2 pistol belt. and yes, at that time, the H suspender was better than the Y suspender at that time too. they never learned…
Encouraging E-4s everywhere to destroy government issued equipment. Very based.

@vustswe you sound wayyy more cringe high-speed
love the nut dangler - great kit idea
As a smaller stature individual, I had already modified my TAPs to get the fitment right. I had bought extra ITW female buckles and your back strap ages ago to help get the TAPs to sit right. Your solution with the included modified sack pouch is something that will go a long way. Definitely going to snag this when it comes out.
Dude it’s not even that you’re smaller statured or not, it’s a HUGE panel with a pathetic harness system especially when used stand alone off of a plate carrier, it’s ridiculous. I did the same thing and as you know it’s hilarious and sad seeing guys that are still running the issues harness in the field floppy all over. It looks like shit and it’s not functional. Good for you taking the time to make a simple effective improvement on your own.
About to be across the pond, and I have my own micro fight, definitely will pick the kit up to actually use my taps. Was going to pick up a mayflower gen IV.
When I was over seas I used my Warrior assault path finder and nobody said anything about it
The TAPS upgrade is the first product from Spiritus I've bought. I was super excited because I always believed the TAPS had potential, but I always hated the straps that they came with. I also like the idea of being able to only have to own one set up that I can use on my KDH SPCS or as a stand alone. Also got to me in S. Korea in a wapping 8 days. Thanks Spiritus
Can you give us any updates on it now? Have you had any run-ins with your command?
Yeah, absolutely going to use this and recommend it to my guys.
Glad to hear it!
Awesome piece of kit...
Dope need more of this.
@legion_preparedness did a series of videos showing how to upgrade your issued TAPS similarly, and while extremely informative, this is a all in one package that unit commanders and soldiers will love.
Very informative thanks for sharing !
... well I was not planning on spending money today... but here we are. I ran a taps at tusc that I had done some mods on but this looks way better
A lot of wish this was around when we were in.
Damn this is nice. Fortunately, my unit lets me use the Mk4 chassis instead of the TAPS so I'm able to run my own kit when we're not using armor. But if my next unit disallows it, definitely gonna grab this 👍🏼
Hell yeah. Thanks for your support
When I have to do recovery (Im a wheeled vehicle mechanic) while in kit. I like to be slick as posable. One reason is that anything one the my chest on lower down getting in the away of a steering wheel. And the second reason is that gear likes to get hung up on the equipment Im trying to hook up to or work on. Been playing with different set ups haven't really found anything that I like that fit my needs. This upgrade kit I think will make the TAPs worth using for me.
And of course its out of stock.
Just got on OCT detail.
This is calling my name
just bought mine!
Awesome. That sack pouch sold individually could be a nice adaption for the IOTV.
Definitely!
Like some others mentioned going back to TAPs since I didn’t care for the A-TAPs. Policy is policy now it’s just trying to figure out how to make the TAPs work. This seems pretty legit just a hard to swallow price tag if your not using the sack pouch
Hahahahaha almost got me
I hope you end up contracting 1000s of these. That would be the ultimate irony.
N that retro fit molle for the sack is really cool. Thought they were to fold like the Ferro stuff, which was pretty smart too, but the propellers would be easier to install.
I’m a light infantrymen in a unit that doesn’t allow your own kit but can be hot or miss on your taps/lbe I have been able to get away with like a micro fight and the thing with some mags on a battle belt but it not practical for anything to do with belt fed weapons so I will get this for when I carry the saw or hopefully the m250 soon
I remember the triple magazine pouch they issued us with the buttons as retention and you could put the mags in but it wouldn’t button down hahaha.
Would be nice if this was actually in stock....
Really wish the dangler came in auscam and stand alone would be great for my issued tbas chest rig
I was thinking of hand sewing something to make it work better but now that I see this I'll have less work involved on it . If it's still available thank you.
Our unit has a mix of the OCP FLC and the TAPS.
I would love to see some spiritus tubes integrated into the sides
I can’t even get one issued , so instead of using the FLIC in the old camo I bought a Mayflower rig. But I did have a taps I would totally buy this upgrade kit. I have used a taps in the past and I truly disliked the Y strap and how it mounted to the IOTV.
Real talk you should make that dangler in a Malle panel configuration so we can Molle the issued IFAK to it
You should sell the kits parts individually. Especially the molly hanger pouch.
would be nice if you sold the dangler by its self. taps is deff still here, maybe some of the other camo patterns aswell.
You guys are awesome for making this, to help out the guys getting boned by their command. Just in time for the poor boys in the 82nd as well
Please get a contract with the army so I don’t have to wear an IOTV ever again. Would be nice to use a lv119 in the field
That would be awesome
Hey have you ever considered making a 83 patern chest rig update? Nice and simple, 5x spud pouches across the front with a map pocket and velcro field across the back. I'd but that in a heart beat.
No
I have two usmc taps in coyote brown, any chance of getting this kit in coyote? Looks awesome!
I like it bc I can carry up to 13 mags with my setup just on my rig alone
Wonder if this would work on the old SoTech Callahan chest rig, they are just about the same.
How do you. Big Army endusers feel about the width of the TAP? To me it just seems like they made it 2 pockets too long, especially for smaller statured Soldiers. Like the end pockets on each side would best be eliminated in favor of a separate radio or GP pouch mounted to the front PALS loopage as needed. Otherwise it puts the end pockets in back of your armpits. The Ranger R.A.C.K. Ranger Assault Carrying Kit was rather wide, too, at 6 PALS columns wide x 3 high in the bib, 10 wide x 3 highin the main center plus another 5 wide x 3 high in each of the wraparound "wings". Ryan Coffey (RIP) at Tactical Tailor grew exponentially when he Posed to Ft Lewis, doing kit mods on the RACK. Which turned into his own MAV and Split MAV chest rigs and padded H Harness.
Will there be a version released that doesn't include the pouch?
Any idea on when this will be available again ?
Do you guys have a video or website link comparing the types of h harnesses you offer aside from the product portals? Like a side by side comparison? If not it would be greatly appreciated content!
We do not. However, we do offer the Fat straps and Skinny straps on the website.
I’m your 1000th like
I purchased the TAPS kit. Which bungee shock cords do I use for the mags, the long cords or the short cords? Thank you
So 10th MTN policy is you have to wear issued plates, IOTV/SPCS, helmet, and IFAK has to be placed on your non dominant side. Everything else is shooters preference. So it’s definitely a step in the right direction
Take all my money!
Will this be made in a solid coyote offering at some point? since the USMC ones are a single color
Nothing wrong, guccing kit. Always tailoring or modifying our kit in the British Army.
What camera do you guys use?
Will this be available more piecemeal or only as a singular kit? For those of us already invested in the Spiritus ecosystem not buying another Fat Strap and Back Strap would be nice, and having the molle sack pouch as separate would be appreciated. But otherwise the conversion hardware looks fantastic, breathes a lot of new life into this system.
@@Tinker.Studio Yeah that's the route I'll probably go, also my TAPS is in coyote and they're only currently offering it in multicam.
Can we get a Coyote Brown version for us Marine users?
How well does this integrate with IOTV?
Aye brah call ya sell the sack pouch by itself? Because I'd by 4 for those for my older chest rigs.
^this. I'm not trying to pay $180 for a dangler and a bunch of webbing I won't use
How does the business survive if the products are never in stock?
With Southeast Asia tensions growing, what do you think is going to happen when Big Army deploys back to the hot and humid jungles and volcanic islands, wearing the scalable armor system and TAP. Something like the SFLCS Rhodesian RRV that at least can hold a medium ESAPI Plate might be better for ventilation and free movement. A 500d "Lightweight" RRV that can hold up to an L or XL ESAPI/XSAPI plate. All the money Big Army has wasted on uniform changes should have gone into thinner, lighter ballistic plates for regular Joe's. If SOCOM can develop a 3/8" thick curved stand alone plate at 5lbs or less, and Protech could make a 10x12 level 3 3.25lb plate that could work as a stand-alone plate in 2003 then our Troops should be using something even better. The Protect 2013PLUS plate was rated as an ICW but testing showed it endured multiple hits without 3A backer, without excessive blackface deformation. Carving 1lb off the weight of Big Army ballistic helmets has been achieved. We are on our 4th ballistic helmet since 2001 but plates have not been improved much from SAPI to ESAPI to XSAPI, in weight savings.
Even though I'm a civilian I might grab a surplus TAPS and get this upgrade kit because it seems to be some that can be down really well and save some money too
Yeah you won't save any money with this
You would think this would be cost effective over spending your own money for your own chest rig but tbh you are better off buying your own. The kit costs $190 before taxes, literally can buy a much better chest rig for that price.
What about the A-TAPS?
Still waiting to show some love to us marines and make this in coyote brown so we can use it.
Just here for the Adam ASMR
oh if I had this in 2011...
I think a solution to the flabby magazine slots would be nice also. Kinda pain in the ass to reindex mags with the TAPS
Try some Esstac Kiwi inserts or the ones that Haley Strategic makes. Don’t know if they’ll work with the dimensions of the TAPS and they’re not necessarily made for that purpose but it might help them be a little more rigid. Only thing that might not make it work is that the TAPS pouches look taller and leave less mag exposed which inherently means more material flapping around anyways
@@FishPoopOnIce The Haley Strategic MP2 magazine inserts work on the front four magpouches but not the side ones.
Do they just sell the h strap
I kinda want to buy TAPS now lmao
Hell yeah now I can be more comfortable when i purposefully fail eib.
So is there a difference between these fat straps and the ones for the micro fight?
Nope!
Are these kits discontinued? I can't even find them on the website anymore.
they just dropped a Gen II version on the website
Well damn what do I do with my mk4 micro
This is just in time as the Army is issuing out the new A-TAPs kit and the originals TAPs is now being fazed out
The H harness conversion is the best part. The stock one is terrible. Hard to adjust, doesn't support the weight well.
We'll see how much it costs. I don't see much benefit if I could just buy an entirely new chest rig for the same price or less.
$190. I ordered the velocity systems h harness and swift clips for about $80. still has yet to get here after 3 weeks, however.
If you'd emailed them they'd have sold you the basic h harness that comes with their mayflower rigs for $25.
wonder what the price will be
You'll see very soon
It's 189.95 on their website.
Really cool but is it really worth over $200?? You can buy a much better cheat rig or a decent plate carrier for that much.
Anybody know how the TAP looks under night vision? Been contemplating getting one, but I’m wanting to avoid looking like a Christmas tree under nods.
It's issued by the US army its probably fine
It looks fine
Make one in tan for us Marine Corps bubbas.
I'm probably just cheap but I can't justify $190 for this unless it came with another GP pouch.
When the upgrade kit costs 2x more than the actual item it's upgrading..... No way in hell it's worth over $150.
But what is that shirt though?? @adam
A short sleeve
So basically, thing 4
lol
Sshhhhh, Dont say that out loud
That price tho big oof
