First video of 2024 and it won't be my last!
We are gonna talk about edc gear!
What's in my Pocket Everyday?
I think like everyone of you, I’ve watched hundreds of EDCs, Pocket Dumps or What’s in my pockets videos but honestly….
Very few convinced me, I have seen to many "toys" around and not something that could be really helpful in our daily life.
Let’s talk about my humble idea of a realistic Urban EDC!

At what point does it get ridiculous? Sometimes i’m just getting ice cream, not invading a small country.
Funny 😁
You've crossed the border of ridiculous when there is a Knipex in your pocket, and you're not at work..
@@user-wd4ge2zh2cmine arrives tomorrow and i’m a programmer
I always try to have a leatherman on me do you know how many things you can do with it when you’re not at work
True👍
I often have two knives with me. A Swiss Vitorinox as a tool in my backpack and a folding knife as a weapon in my trouser pocket.
Third video of yours I have watched. Very informative and high quality. I am sure your channel will grow quickly with content like this!
Thanks so much for your kind words!
Alex - great content - everyone else waste time promoting themselves and product and talking too much. You were to the point, unique, and an obvious thinker. I have much to learn from you. Thank you.
Thanks so much for your words, I will keep doing my best to be helpful!🙏🙏
Great video, FINALLY someone who uses gear in a way that makes sense, like using one knife only and not having 2 backpacks and 8 pouches. Also, that mini ceramic blade is very cool. Can you describe better how you proceeded to make it? Or link to a video, I couldnt find the channel you were referring to when talking about it. Thanks
Thanks man! Glad we agree on that!
It's pretty simple, since these ceramic blades have edged on both sides, when you have one just take a piece of Gorilla Tape 1 cm width and wrap it around of one of the two edges . Doing so you won't cut yourself and you will save a new sharpen edge for future uses 🤙
@@AlexWander Oh nice! So these blades come already small like this, i thought maybe you had made it from a bigger one. Then i'll be sure to make one and put in my wallet too! Thanks for the tip!! Also the gorilla tape video can be super interesting so don't hesitate to make that one too :-) Cheers !
New subscriber! Finally a realistic edc video, great work.
Thanks sir! Doing my best to keep things real an helpful !🤜🤛
Would love to see how you made those pockets out of gorilla tape. Love the REAL content. Edc channels now just promo the over priced useless tools.
I'm actually writing down a script for the video, plus I'm gonna pre-make some objects with gorrila tape too. Stay tuned, thanks so much for your words, I try har to keep things as much real as possible 🙏
Nice video.
Learned a few things.
Going light is the way to go after all.
Have a nice day.
If we would Just carefully take a look of what we really need and not what we want , kits get lighter, enjoy your weekend, glad to be helpful 🙏
Great Video Alex. Yes please keep on your 2024 goal of more vids please bro. Zac, Australia
Thanks a ton Zac! Will do!
@AlexWander, I don't know how I have never seen your channel before today?! GREAT video! I will be watching all 52 of your videos, and looking forward to more! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Truly honored, Thanks so much!!! 🙏🏻🔥👊🏻
Thanks for sharing your sensible approach to edc. Good video!
No thank you to enjoy it!

glad your liking the notebook! Thanks for sharing your EDC
You've got a new fan, enthusiast, and subscriber.. love the content the format and the information/ideas!
Edit: i also have a very similar pouch i carry as my wallet+ in my back pocket its not very minimal but I like being able to have as much as I can for the you never know moments especially having three boys cause i never know!
Truly honored thanks so much ! I definety can understand your point of view , there's only one way to build up our EDC , we aways need to listen to our needs before build one up 🤙
New to the channel. Amazing Content Alex. Looking forward to more solo adventure videos in the Woods!
Thanks so much and welcome aboard!!!!🙏🙏🙏🙏
Alex - just got a new subscriber. Great content. First video I see of yours and I really enjoyed the no-nonsense video. Enjoyed that you use practical thinking and great comment about the knife. While watching other EDC videos I always ask, “Why so many knives everywhere?” You don’t really need that many.
Thanks man!!! Thanks for your support!
Really great video Alex! I loved your camera work. Looking forward to seeing you and Dino at Blade Show this year!
Thank you so much!!!!!!
Good video. Thanks for taking the time.
Thank you for enjoying it!🙏🏻
Hey Alex, great video, thank you! 🙏🏻
Straight to the point, no BS and and EDC that makes sense. Rare to see these days!
Just one question.. what jacket are you wearing in the video? A Fjällräven one I suppose? Thank you again, you gained a new subscriber! Keep up the great work 👍🏻
Thanks so much for your kind words, I'm trying to don't BS anyone, just want to be helpful! Correct! The jacket is the Smock N1 from Fjallraven! Thanks for your support!
Only now I get it: you're the guy from Wander Tactical! You're as cool as your beautiful knives, Alex. I absolutely LOVE my Hurricane T Folder, is my favourite one together with the Viper Turn Limited Ed.! Bravo fratello e in bocca al lupo per i vostri prossimi WT!
Grazie Mille Davide! Sono contento ti piaccia il nostro folder! Cerco di condividere il più possibile la passione che ci porta poi a creare I nostri coltelli 🤙🔥
Excellent advice! I like how small your EDC kit is. Only carry what you need 😎
Trying hard to carry and learn to use just what's needed, thanks!🔥🔥🔥😉
Now this is a very respectable edc video that makes you think
thank you!🙏

No worries and thanks for the support!🙏
Great video. Thank you for what you do.
Thank you for your support!
No toys no BS , one of the real ones great video thanks
So glad you agree, thanks!!!!
Hi. Great video. You and I think alike. Be aware, when using a tourniquet the distant (from the heart) part of the limb will go numb. If it's a leg, as soon as the blood flow stops, start making a crutch. Be ready to crawl. And keep up the great work!!!
So true ! Tourniquets are tricky. Thanks so much!!!👍
Must loosen tourniquet at regular intervals...
[Suggest that research be done, as the interval time is important and has been updated, apparently.]
@@Cale-Davison Yes and be careful that nothing nasty gets on the heart side of the band.
@@mervmartin2112 New research, new conclusions. In the extreme, I'm sure that I remember someone mentioning shorter intervals than this, from ResearchGate: :Old aspects recommend that tourniquet should be released in every 15-30 minutes intervals, but new studies show and current training books recommend that tourniquet can be used safely within two hours and a tourniquet should not be released unless the hemorrhage can be controlled surgically."
Good video, I'm looking forward to watching more!
I have carried a folding knife for self defense for years. It's for emergencies, so I don't use it for anything else. Side note: I also carry it on my support side, in case I need help defending my firearm, which is worn strong side. Consequently, I effectively don't usually have a blade for every day use. There are some Chinese knock offs of some spiderco blades that weigh next to nothing. Recently I've started carrying one of those as a beater knife that I don't feel bad about using for normal knife stuff.
I also have the Hiker version of a Swiss Army Knife, it's a version with a Phillips head screw driver instead of a corkscrew. I couldn't find a comfortable way to carry it for a long time because I hate the way knives without pocket clips end up sideways at the bottom of your pocket. Then I found a small pocket clip that attaches to the D ring of the knife. It makes carrying a Swiss Army Knife a lot more comfortable on a daily bases. I have a heavy duty straight pin stuck in the hole made for that purpose, and a small fero rod that replaces the toothpick. The Hiker is only 2 layers, so it's very comfortable worn in jean pockets with the pocket clip. Somtimes I carry a 3 layer version (forget the name) which has a saw blade. For EDC, I think a SAK version of two, and no more than 3 layers, with scissors makes a lot of sense. But I love the screwdriver option. The awl is really useful for cutting the heavy plastic on clam packed items. I luckily had my SAK at recent party for my granddaughter. I was the only one there with a pocket knife, let alone a screwdriver. Thus I became the designated toy package opener and battery inserter. The tools are surprisingly functional and well made on legit Swiss Army Knives, which surprised me since I had a cheap copy of one when in Scouts. The knife blade is decent quality, but nothing special by today's standards set by super steels. But then it's also very easy to touch up or resharpen with an inexpensive whetstone. And the Hiker model costs less than $25!
When I'm fishing, hunting, or in the woods, I really prefer a multi-tool with pliers and wire cutters. Leatherman tools seem to have very high quality metal files. But then we're talking something that's best worn on a belt sheath.
I've been thinking of buying a belt with a hidden pocket built in to carry a little extra cash, a laminated copy of my driver's license, and a ceramic, single edged razor blade. The ceramic blade that I have has a metal backside like all single edged blades. So a metal detector would still find it, but the sharp part won't rust like regular blades eventually do. But you can buy several dozen regular blades for the same price, so that probably wasn't the best purchase I ever made. We had a ceramic paring knife recently break. I saved the blade thinking that I might use it, shorten it, or modify it somehow.
I am almost always pretty close to my vehicle, even while working, so I have a lot of useful things in my vehicle that I don't feel the need to carry on my person. And I live in a Constitutional Carry State in the U.S. Knives are also unregulated, so blade length and locking features aren't restricted.
If you are going to carry a note pad AND a plastic stabby thing, then IMO, a high quality metal or tactical pen seems more worthwhile, and more subtle.
I have a lock picking set, but I'm not good enough to make carrying it worthwhile. I need to practice more, and at least have it in my vehicle.
This is a true in depth sharing! I thank you so much for the time taken to write all of this! It seems that we are all in a constant trial and error kind a process but I think this what define us as a true passionate about "self reliance"
By the way , I made my self defence tool that I called Mr. I DON’T KNOW made out of micarta because, tactical pens , kubotans and related stuff get you screwed in my country, I wanted something helpful but that cannot be recognized as a self defense tool by the police 🤷♂️ we cannot even carry a gun in our country 😁
@@AlexWander Thanks for the compliment. I really can't imagine not being allowed to carry a firearm, a pocket knife, or even a pen. Tactically it might not be a sound decision, but it's legal in Texas to open carry a rifle or pistol. However, virtually everyone that carries does so concealed though. Knives are unregulated. The only places that you are likely to be mugged or assaulted are in big cities, where the corrupt district attorneys and judges let violent criminals come and go through a revolving door. Many of the city folks are bleeding heart liberals that the predators feed upon. Outside of the big cities, you don't have to work much.
Luckily, we have something called the Castle Doctine in effect. If you are in your home or anywhere else where you have the legal right to be, you have the right to defend yourself if you are attacked. I'm not sure how any society thinks it is logically okay that law abiding citizens have to give way to criminals. If a criminal doesn't want to end up injured or dead, it's simple, don't attack other people. It's no different than deciding not to step out in front of a moving bus.
I have thought some about what type of items one could legally carry on an airplane that would be effective self defense items. That's a discussion for a different, and more private forum. 😉
Anyway, keep up the good work, your videos are very good!
Great! Nice information great video. Thank you .
Thank you too!
Great tools and always great gear too Alex 🙌👌

Your videos are amazing !!
They’re simple , direct and full of knowledge !
Thanks for sharing with us !
Btw , I wanted to ask , in one of your videos you were using a stone grey fjallraven singi 48 ?
Cheers from Japan !!!
Thanks so much friend! Keep things simple is one of my goals! Yes I've used the Fjalravem Singi 48 in my Moutaneering video set up!
Hey Alex i was wondering , do you carry any multitool with you ?
And if you do which one and why ?
Can you share your experience?
I’m trying to build my edc , btw I always carry pain killers cuz I also have headache sometimes 😅
Thanks again brother !
Cheers from Japan 🇯🇵
I sometimes carry a Victorinox - Huntsman Black - Pathfinder Edition or a Leatherman Super tool 300 depending on where Im going😊 painkillers are a blessing for me too!
Olaf’s blades are so sharp. Good choice/idea to carry that.
Love the gorilla tape tool carry you made. Nice!
I made a “massage tool” from some hazel wood similar shape to your Mr. I don’t know. Can use it for personal protection.
I got the idea from Lee Morrison at @UrbanCombatives
Enjoyed your video, Mr. W 😉👍🏼
I agree they are very sharp! I will definitely check this guy out, thanks !
@@AlexWanderCheck his friend out who runs the UC in the Netherlands.
Will Do thanks!
I have two layers on me as well. On person I carry the usual cellphone, wallet, keys and pocket knife and a firearm. Then in my smaller chest sling I’ll carry a multi tool, flashlight, notepad and pen, some bandaids, a tourniquet and quik clot gauze, a connectivity kit that can charge my phone to whatever is around plus a charging cable. That’s it. I keep it relatively as small as possible because the bigger the bag the more I’d carry and then it’d be heavy and I wouldn’t carry eventually. Took me awhile to narrow it down, but in most scenarios I’d be covered.
It took years for me too to narrow down all my set ups. It take time but it worths the effort. Your kit is well thought out and it covers most of our needs for sure! Bu the way , do you also carry the chest sling in a urban scenario or is it just for outdoors?
@@AlexWander it’s actually primarily urban. I have a separate pack for outdoors with different tools better for those sorts of tasks. Not necessarily a “Bugout” bag, but it could be because I’ve always got certain things in there that I could use.
@Phlfwlr thanks man for the clarification!
Great Video Alex!
Thanks so much!!!
Thank you for the video, big job. Usually I carry a knife, usually a Vic and a multitool, I’ll keep some idea for your video.
Glad to be helpful brother!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you. I often carry two knives. Always the Victorinox Midnite Manager, and one larger UK legal knife. Unless I am working in my garden and then it might not be UK legal carry (usually a locking blade for safety or a utility knife). Great video, practical EDC.
No thank you for enjoying my video! Love that Victorinox, you guys have a lot of restrictions lately right?
@@AlexWander The restrictions have been around a while. No big deal. Loads of options for good EDC. Just need to be creative. A lot of anti-knife feeling due to knife crime - so I get your point about carrying the SAK when in town. I do the same.
@MB_EDC thanks for the explanation! I'm always curious to hear how things works in other countries!
@@AlexWander I have a video planned to give some basic information on UK knife law. I am not a lwyer - but I think the key laws are not so different to understand...

thanks for useful video. i liked the gorilla tape hack on cord so don't have to to put it down while actually using it. and the pockets in the bag for picks etc. i would personally add a chem fishing night light to the inside of bag but otherwise agree with it all. look forward to seeing more videos 👍and will have to see how you made that mini ceramic knife blade

Nice :) I’m partial to the Explorer. The inline Phillips screwdriver is my preference. Got some very unnecessary Ti scales for it 😂 You’ve got a good, practical energy about your vids, keep up the great work.
The screwdriver can be helpful sometimes, I didn't think on that , definetly well thought out! About the TI scales..well.. honestly they are cool 😁 Thanks for your kind words!!
I've been in a debate with myself because I've fallen into carrying three knives: a locking all purpose folder, a SAK (mostly for the other tools), and a small utility blade holder. I find there's times i want all three with me, but i hate redundancy. Everything else i carry is simple, keys, wallet, phone, ccw.

I havent used a powerbank in over 3 years in normal use. you recharge your devices everyday and is enough for a day. don't get the need to have a powerbank with you every time. I only carry them for when i go camping, and then i also take a solar panel which is the size of an A4 when foldere, it's enough to power my 20kmah anker powerbank in a day and i have enough to keep me going for indefinitely offgrid, as long as there is sun. Notepad i never use, i always take notes on my phone, although i hade a small writeintherain notepad in my wallet all the time just in case(never used it though). also i have in 2 places always [pills i need(including painkillers). in my wallet and in my backpack in a small pouch i made to have everytime with me in any backpack. as for knives, i have an opinel no8 for food, and always carry a victorinox just because i might need the tools.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!!
@@AlexWander its an EDC that actually counts, not the usual ones, which is important. i tend to keep urban edc aka what i normally carry, and outdoor edc separate aka camping and such, since i mostly do urman. but some things repeat. I also always work with it, and in my hobiies i need a toolkit so some of the tech goes there, since it needs to be as compact as possible for changing, i currently have 4 tool kits, one at home which i use when needed, one for my model railroad club to go at expos or club, one for going camping and one for when i go with my bicycle(has to be light but do everything). am curently working on a small puch i can just get and throw anywhere to use which has basic stuff.
However if you go in real EDC, you have a wallet, keys phone and a backpack, and i wanna have all in that trio, even if not the best, the rest will complement it, but yeah, i will have multitools depending on the situation. I recommend to you these 2 if you really like to write, put in the wallet, they are credit card sized...

It fits in a wallet and you have something to write anywhere in any condition, urban or camping.
You can also use that roll of tape inside your palm to punch someone. It makes the hit like a brick.
I never thought about that! Nice idea! 🤙
@AlexWander Thank you. Yes, mu dad taught me that. He's an Ex-Chicago Cop and I'm Ex-Navy. It's good, because it's legal to carries pennies.
That's so smart! Thanks again for your sharing!
What’s that Fjallraven jacket? Looks nice! 👍🏻
It's the Smock n1 from Fjallraven 🙏👍
As someone who carries multiple knives for work... you obviously missed that reason when you mention John Wick. I don't carry knives for self defense. I've never been in a fight much less a knife fight where there are no "winners". I'm sure I'm not the only one that does so either. I know many people like to carry a "beater" knife for rough work and a show knife for their own enjoyment.
Working in retail, I've gotten into the habit of carrying a smaller less "offensive/scary" knife for when I was on a sales floor which also is handy for more controlled cuts... and a larger more robust knife for more serious cutting tasks like cutting down boxes with two or more layers of cardboard or cutting thicker plastic strapping. I tend to prefer wharncliffe or sheepsfoot style blades as the straight edge and forward facing point work well for push cuts and tip cuts. Though having a knife with "belly" is also occasionally knice as it works better for cutting pallet wrap as it gathers material during a long draw cut.
I carry a swiss army knife as my multi-tool for the tasks its suited for and keep that blade in reserve primarily for food related tasks so I always have a clean blade.
If I needed to carve on wood... I'd likely carry a scandi ground knife for that purpose. As it is... a flat or hollow ground knife work well for my smaller blade and my larger blade tends to be less thin behind the edge.
Knives are one of mans oldest tools and have been specialized for a variety tasks. Having the right tool for the job you are doing makes work so much more enjoyable.
The John wick thing was clearly a joke 😊
And I will never carry a knife for fighting purposes, I agree with you that there won't be any winner 👍 and actually it's something that works only in movies .
I definelty understand and respect your idea of carrying multiple knives to have the best for every possible of work, but I.prefer to be "essential" and at least change the type of the knife I'm going to carry based on the environment and the activity I have to do, for instance I will never carry a carving knife if I'm going to the city and if I have to eat I can clean the blade I used to open the box an hour ago.
The "what if" mentality is not for me ,most of the time this mentality leads to carry everything but the kitchen sink and I see that in so many videos, bushcraft gatherings, survival classes or travels I've been through. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts I really appreciated!
What model is the swiss army knife that you are using?
It's a Victorinox - Huntsman Black - Pathfinder Edition👍
Nice toys
👍👍👍👍
those little charger, I never use and you have to always charge them or they are dead if you need it, may as well charge your phone before ya go as to charge that before you go. how do always carry it if it has to be on the charger for hours. Have you ever actually 'had' to use it or die? how often have you been in daily situation where you writing something down in the rain saved you? few people will ever use most of these things on a daily basis or at all.
Honestly it holds the charge better than others I've used in the last 5 years.
I use to check it out every night before I know l'm going to stay all day away from home and I'm not sure if I will be able to plug in my phone. It never happened to me that I've risked to die because my phone ran out the juice, I live in a civilized area 😊
What’s the name of the wood puncture tool with the leather? On 3:30
I actually called it Mr. I DON’T KNOW 🤣
Ciao, è vero che in Italia senza giustificato motivo non si dovrebbero portare coltelli o lame ?
Purtroppo è vero 💁
I'm not trying to be negative, but if you have that self defense weapon (the micarta sitck that you showed) in the pouch, it's kind of useless. You should have it where you have quick and easy access to it to be able to use it effectively. Just a thought.
I agree! As I’ve already told
To another folk, I put it in the pouch just for the sake of the video, it’s always on my left side pocket 🙏🏻
@@AlexWander Oh, okay! That's good to hear. Also, I was wondering which city you live in?
@abnr1983 I lived in Milan for 12 years, now I moved out with my Family .
What jacket is this your wearing?
It’s a Fjallraven Smock n1 🤙🏻
@@AlexWander ❤️
My leather man lives on my hip other than that an rfid proof wallet and rfid proof phone bag that’s it unless I’m going camping
Good minimalist setup!
