My husband was in the Army for 24 years. Our English Bulldog got to the point that every time he pulled out his bags and suitcases, she would whine, cry and pout. She wouldn't even look at him for the final hours before he'd leave because she'd be so mad at him for leaving her. The first week after he'd leave, she'd sit by the front door waiting for him to come home. It was heartbreaking! She'd sleep at the foot of the bed, lifting her head at the slightest sound, waiting for him all night long. She'd hear his voice on the phone and start whining the most awful cry.
Every time upon his return, she'd act like this and wouldn't let him out of her sight even to go to the store. It would take weeks to get her back to normal. Fur babies (and of course my family) are the best part of my life. Thank you for sharing this sweet video. Welcome home sweet puppers!

Friends took care of my cats while I was gone, which extended a week longer than expected. When they came in, one of the cats went out, unbeknownst to them. She was in a strange area, no access back in, I'm gone and she's fending for herself. I never saw her again and grieved for her for a long time, not knowing what happened to my cat. I still have a hole in my heart. This puppy was obviously happy to see his dad and I'm sure Dad was happy to have him back too. Pets are family.

I remember reading this story- apparently for the three years she was in the shelter, she was incredibly sad and reserved. The shelter workers had never seen her happy, or excited, and she rarely even gave so much as a tail wag.
But then her dad found her- and she was so happy, and the workers were so amazed at seeing her so happy and excited- because they had never seen her like that before.
It’s a truly beautiful story- and her dad had been looking for her the entire time, there was just miscommunication and bad timing, which was why she was in the shelter for so long.
