- Hello friends, my name is Christine, and welcome to Frugal Fit Mom! This was the first grocery shopping trip I have done in a month and we were LOW on a lot of things. I am trying my hand at going to the store much less often during this pandemic and shelter in place order in my state. I was able to find everything I needed for my family and even used some local food suppliers for great looking produce. I hope you enjoy our very large grocery shopping haul today!

To have your asparagus last longer, cut the ends off and stand it up in a cup of water in the fridge. It will last at least a week that way. 😊
4:04 the guy in the background totally had me cracking up.
Camera ready LOL
I saw him, too! HA!
@@FrugalFitMom 5 secs of fame!!
lol yep made me laugh
Same! 😆
Coming from a dairy farming family in Wisconsin that sign at Walmart means so much. I haven’t seen that here though. Kudos to supporting your local farmers markets!
Haven't seen it in Montana either. Milk is pretty bare. Haven't been out in 2 weeks or more though. Cheese, I grab every chance I get. :)
At our Walmart we're limited to 2 milks. At our WinCo there's no limit.
My husband bought extra when he was shopping because they said please buy it. It depends on the store. I think they don't need to limit it anymore?! People may be drinking less to delay shopping.
Grocery store worker in Wisconsin here. You'll be glad to know we have them here!
Rose.... I wish you lived closer so I could directly support your family. Seeing images of milk being poured down the drain breaks my heart
And it's actually satisfying when the things are touched. I feel my anxiety rise when I watch a haul and they're not touching anything. 😬
You can add the wine to a glass. I hear it's really good 😉
LOL!
Not Sutter Home. Sorry, from CA wine country here. LOL!
Hahahahahahaha
@@jenhigg1 I don’t really like alcohol, so I rarely drink, but I’m also from California and can totally agree with you on the wine thing, lol! The cheapy stuff is just fine for cooking though- 2 buck Chuck from TJ’s, always a winner! 😋
Minced meat with some wine, cinnamon and cloves is very nice!
Every time I watch some else's grocery haul, it makes me remember all the things I forgot.😁
lol, me too!!😄
Good Morning Christine! As a nurse that works in a Major ICU in Downtown Sacramento. I am a Southern Girl from a small town North of New Orleans ( Slidell). I am widowed , with no children. But my brother that passed away, his son, daughter in law, and there 3 small children live with me. When I am off from work, I isolate away from the family. I just want to keep them safe. I love watching CZcams and your channel was recommended to me. I am addicted to your channel. Yes , I binge watch . I love seeing a happy marriage, with a beautiful family that you can see the love. Plus you make supper yummy food. I just purchased one of the 8 quart Instapot, that does everything. I found it a wholesale with a little tiny dent for 80 dollars , In pristine condition. So I am thankful for your bean recipe last week! Have an amazing week.
Roz Hall-Sharp I’ve been to Slidell!
When my fridge is almost empty like yours was, I like to clean it before I load it up again. Saves me from having to pull a ton out first. 🌈
I love your sense of humor. Your comments tickle me. I love your grocery and cooking videos!
😊 thank you
Awesome haul! Way to support local farmers! 🎉❤
Thank you!! 😊
Grocery store worker here! We recommend that people just do their normal amount of shopping. While we do have most things back in stock again (save for cleaning products and yeast), we won't be able to handle people stock piling again. Not saying you are!
Just a psa for everyone out there. As long as people shop reasonably, there should be no reason to worry about the grocery stores not having food again!
Edit: also, check your local distilleries to see if they're making hand sanitizer.
Thank you I appreciate hearing that and value your hard work!
This is her normal amount, right? It's how she shops
Fellow grocery store worker here. Yeah people do not realize that most grocery stores are only stocked for a 2-4 day supply. Panic shopping doesn't help anyone.
After this, as a California resident, I started to think about how stores in hurricane areas handle pre storm shopping.
@@katasia68 The pandemonium in the stores was nuts. In my opinion, there should have been a hard lock-down, with the National Guard dropping rations outside each home. Nobody allowed outside. Alternately, WWII ration booklets, so only what’s needed for each member of a household could be purchased. Everyone in our government is too young to know about this. I have my grandparents’ ration booklets. The coupon had to be detached in the presence of the clerk, so they could not be sold or traded. The booklets were issued monthly and expired at the end of the month. The cover said, “If you don’t need it, don’t buy it.” Either of these techniques would have eliminated the crowds, emptying of shelves, vulnerable people suffering without, and all the spread of virus in the stores.
@@genxx2724 I feel like after seeing the scenes in China and Italy that's what people were preparing for. I mean America now is a much different America than it was in WWII in terms of personal freedom and the idea of sacrifice for the betterment of the entire country. I do agree we needed a hard lockdown, however I don't think we are going to get one. I think we as a country are just too polarized and into our personal freedoms. We could have been setting the example for what to do, and now we're setting the example for what NOT to do. 😐
Those are amazing prices especially for the amount of produce and organic you got. The local aspect is also awesome.
"How the heck did that get in there?" I felt that one. That's me also after the grocery store with my youngest child.
A really good soup that we make with red wine. Cook uncased italian sausage with onion, add chopped bell pepper, zucchini, canned tomatoes undrained and I use beef broth and about a cup of red wine. Simmer until tender and then add some bow tie pasta and cook until done. Such a good flavor!
I could only wish to have deeply discounted produce like that here!
Ya...wraps are almost $4 in my Province. I woulda bought 20 of those packs @ .79 ! lol
Keener saaaaaaame. It kills me that we pay so much for food in Canada.
Yes!!! It hurts so much when I see these prices and then have to pay so much for food in BC. I’m lucky if I can find a gallon of milk for less than 5$
I CAN'T skip the cheese. Ever. Like if we were only going to have two foods in the house, one of them needs to be cheese, no matter what the other one is! 😂 I love that you were able to get so much fresh produce (and the chocolate chips, haha). This is fantastic!
Air frier carrots and green beans! Could you show us how you make those?
Was just about to ask the same question! 😊
I was going to ask also...
I've got an air fryer. But don't really know how to use it for anything other the potato fries.
I was going to ask as well. What are carrot fries?? And green beans...???🤔 I never thought about those in the air fryer. 🤞 I can get some fresh on my next grocery pick up.
Gitte Clausen You’re missing out! Search it on CZcams! There’s SOOO many things.
Love how you are supporting local!! I live in a vsmall town also and we have been doing what we can to support the local businesses!!
I love that you talked about supporting local businesses and that you are letting folks know about the milk situation. Your channel is my favorite after John Krasinski's SGN. Sorry but the guy's always got the greatest news that makes me happy cry. lol! But I love your channel. I'm so glad you're here.
Wow you did awesome!! Your produce looks amazing! Bless you helping local, and the dairy farmers! 👍👍 Your ending total was unbelievable, you have alot of food. Tyfs, stay safe, stay well. Natalie☀️🌼😊🌷✝️
I LOVE how you were able to get the Farmers Market order! YUM YUM!!! Yes, I buy local all the time, as I am surrounded by farms, one being an organic farm. :) The organic one raises pigs and chickens, and gets grass fed beef sometimes, and always has tons of eggs.... Beautiful farm. :) Thank you for sharing all this with us. LOVE watching grocery/farm orders!!
Make a shepherds pie and when cooking the beef use the wine then. Make sure you cook it out otherwise it may taste too strong
Its so cheap there! 😲😲😲 *Cries in Australian* 😭😭😭
EmmaAppleBerry I think it’s because of difference in pay.
You're not kidding! I live in SA so feel this every time I watch a video from the US.
Australia has much higher minimum wage to the US so it's all relative
* Cries in Seattle* hahah
*Cries in Canadian*

I'm lucky enough to have friends who go to the supermarket for me cause I can't go and risk my health - but it means that I end up with some interesting things!
😅😅😅 you are too sweet to just take it anyway.

It’s so different in New York. Coronavirus is all over, even in the Buffalo area. We are currently only sending my husband to the grocery store for essentials and you must wear a mask. feel very blessed and fortunate that your area is not very affected yet.
Jessica Gaughan I live in Westchester County and it’s empty everywhere. I can’t even find frozen veggies or butter. I wish we had more farmers markets in my area
Oh wow! The *yet* on the end of your comment sounded ominous. I suppose it can be hard to comprehend just how *bad* it is. Could we have ever thought when we heard of the first victims, just how bad it would get. I'm in the UK and I know exactly how you are feeling. There is never any good news.. But we all wait and hope.
I agree. I'm not in New York but I can only imagine how difficult it is there. Prayers for you all to stay safe and healthy!
In Westchester as well, totally different. Definitely cannot get everything on your list.
Long Island here, it’s like going on a scavenger hunt for basics and all the fruit and veggies fresh are half rotten
Lol at when you show the haul on your counter & one of the gallons of milk is already half gone 🤣
princess536 right? Life with 4 kids 🤦♀️
Seeing a fully stocked grocery store is wonderful. It's great to see that not everyone in the US is struggling to find what they need. I'm in Maryland and have only been out to the store twice in the last month but there were a lot of bare shelves.
"I mean, I am over 21 but...very cute" I literally had an outburst when you said that :))))))
I get carded when I buy spray paint, so you never know!
I would only touch the wine, that I was buying.
Wow! Awesome haul. I was thinking 400.00 too so that was amazing. I think it's so cool that you are supporting local.
I am just upset that I won’t see any grocery haul from you for one long month.
Honestly your videos keeps me sane in this crazy time.
I save a lot of time by buying frozen diced peppers and frozen diced onions and stir fry peppers and onions. I always have about 10 bags in the freezer.
We still haven’t been back to the store in a month and have done the Target Shipt or drive up for stuff but we’ve also been getting orders from thrive or imperfect foods for our meats and veggies
We definitely miss going to the store but cases are still going on in my major city and grocery store workers keep getting sick
I HOPE YOU DIDN’T FORGET TO STOCK UP ON CHOCOLATE CHIPS?!
Edit: Phew, there they are. lol
LOL!
You are my quarantine spirit animal.
That’s a lot of grocery
Oh wow! I was in Idaho for a year(pocatello then Idaho Falls), and even went to the potato farm. Yet, I never heard anyone say to keep the dirt on to help preserve them! Thank you for that tip!
That’s great you have local produce ! It all looks amazing! Supporting local businesses is so important! Love Honey Crisp Apples! Thanks for Sharing! Stay safe and Healthy!
I needed to see this. I have to go grocery shopping in an hour so I needed some ideas.
Wow! The eggs deal is absolutely insane. I would love to score 5 dozen eggs for $3.98. Here in NYC, one dozen eggs are $4.99.
I pay $14 for 5 dozen eggs in Costco in Canada.
Same in NJ I but at least they’ll be organic cage-free, etc.
Brie B That’s tough ☹️ here in NY, they aren’t even organic or cage free. I know things are based on supply and demand, but now is definitely not the time to raise prices. Good luck during all this ❤️
I pay $2.80-$3.40 max for 5 dozen in TN!
Similar price in Australia. 1 dozen eggs cost $3:50 (Australian dollars) but that is the absolute cheapest u can get, can pay up to $8
I always watch these videos and am shocked at how cheap food is in America compared to here
Thank you! Thank You! Thank You for shouting out the Dairy Farmers. I'm in Maine. My neighbors (dairy farm) received a letter last week that they will only be paid for 85% of their milk and the price being paid will be almost half of what they need to pay their bills! Thank you so much for supporting them!
Loved this video!!!! Love your grocery hauls and cooking!! Helps me with my family. Thank you!
I adore potatoes especially Yukon golds omg I wish I could get so many for so little 🥰
just an fyi: just cause it says "out of stock" online doesn't mean its not in the store. they aren't putting stock online, so its best to go in the store. yes I know crazy! our walmart & sam's manger has told me its best to come in the store because we have. when I was needing ground beef walmart pick said not in stock while I was in the store standing next to the ground beef. sam's said no lysol and toilet paper & I was standing right next to it
I am so glad you all are not so affected by the virus! We are here in Mass unfortunately. We also had a conference in Feb that caused the main break out and things just went from there. Maybe if we would have shut down earlier we would already be out. Who knows. We are hopefully on the downturn after this week. Stay well!
Glad you are supporting your local businesses. We were going to travel across Canada east to west this summer. We have cancelled that part of our trailer trip and are planning on traveling in the US so we can support local businesses. Enjoy your channel.
Honeycrisp apples are my favorite!!!! Best apple!
we only know English cucumbers here and looking at those other once makes me think everytime those are not cucumbers.
I just discovered your channel yesterday and I am inspired 😊, organized the freezer today. Yeah!
Lordy I am soooo jealous of those honey crisp apples! Enjoy!!!
We're having the same issue here in Arizona with the milk being dumped. We're a family a four and usually use two gallons a milk a month. Now I buy four a week directly from shamrock. We have to do out part. I make rice pudding, milk gelatin, smoothies every morning and anything I can think no of. Stay safe!
@Luvcoffee You mean well I'm sure but I don't think it's the right time to promote this documentary, especially since it's quite criticized by some vegan too (I have Unnatural Vegan in mind). I'm not judging at all, simply in general plant base milk tends to be more expensive and during this hard times, it's good that she's supporting a local company.
@@Marmuut Personally, I think it's fair to judge when one has just been judged.
You can also make your own ricotta cheese for lasagna and yogurt.
Juana Pena I need to find out how to make that!!! Do you have a video to recommend?
Since people don't like the plant based milk comment, most dairy in America is cow based casein A1 protein - this causes inflammation and grows cancer in the body. If you switched to sheep or goat, that is casein A2 protein which doesn't cause inflammation or grow cancer. Not all dairy is equal.
Put asparagus in a cup with water in the bottom. Makes them last longer in the fridge. 👍
Yup. Came down here to say. I'm cooking some asparagus tonight that I bought maybe ten days ago. I changed out the water once in the fridge and they're as fresh as the day I bought them. I use a quart container so I can just stand them up like flowers in a vase.
Me too lol. I change the water every couple days
2 weeks for me
That’s how my local supermarkets sell asparagus!!!
Love it! Love how you were so organized in your shopping. Taking notes!
Thank you for showing this. I have to go out shopping in a couple of weeks and it's nice to see shelves are decently packed. Give me hope!
You are so welcome!
Our grocery stores have limits, and a lot of the stuff is sold out. It’s really crazy. But we also have a lot of confirmed cases.
I love Yukon gold. I usually buy that kind from the store that way I don't have to peel them I can just cook come and eat them.
Same here!
Please be careful. Don't let your guard down. Be safe and I truly enjoy watching your channel
Your wine will last for a really good while. So you don’t have to make a lot of roast soon, spread it out over the next 6 months and you’ll be good! It definitely keeps! LOVE your videos and your sweet family! Love from Alabama!!!💕
Yes can you please do a green bean and carrot fry air fryer recipe video.
The wine could be used for deglazing pans for any sauces - usually red meat is the best but you would work it with pork or chicken. Would also be good in the sauce for the stroganoff.
Thanks for the tips!
I love your energy, sense of humor and awesome tips in your videos! Your incredibly realistic ideas have been really helpful to me!
Glad you like them!
Here in central N.C. still can't find toilet paper anywhere! It's great that in your area your stores were so well stocked! I went Saturday to pick up just a few things and the ground beef was wiped out. Great job on your haul Christine👍
Thank you for supporting our Idaho dairy’s!!!
Woo hoo! Should be sleeping rn but I’d rather watch this!
From a dairy farming family in Minnesota. ..Thank You for supporting your local farmers!
Our pleasure!
I love your videos, especially your hauls. They are keeping me sane right now. I’m in Washington state under stay at home orders. Thanks for being you!
Melissa Moeller thank you!!
first! love you Christine!
MaddietheMawson congratulations
I just paid $4 for an 18 count pack of eggs. So jealous of the prices!!
I did my last grocery trip 2 1/2 weeks ago and things were sparse. Just did a month of meal planning and a Sam's Club pickup order. I go in a couple hours to get it. It will be so nice to have some fresh fruits and veggies in the house! I will probably do a Fry's or Sprouts pick up in a couple weeks for more fresh veggies, but we should be set on everything else.
Please stay safe and healthy! And keep making videos! I love watching yours and Jen's videos!
love how you're emphasizing so much supporting local farmers
You can cut off the bottoms of those lettuce heads, put in some water and re grow them! I did that with celery. Beautiful leaves.... FUN!
I'm currently regrowing my romaine it's fun.
@@marisavogt181 That's SO COOL!!! It IS really fun!! :)
I tried celery but it didn’t work for me. It sprouted but didn’t produce. I will have to try again. The simple things in life are considered fun again. I love this! Reminding us to slow down. We have had fires in our fire pit a few times. I love doing those!
Hey Christine! I adore your videos and love how you are paying special attention to your local community and the needs of others at this time. I just wanted to let you know that the CDC recommends masks and gloves primarily to ensure that we don't spread COVID-19 to others. A low amount of reported cases in your state is more likely to be a result of a lack of testing than a lack of cases at this point. Mask making can be a fun activity with the family while you're in quarantine and it could protect your community when you do need to go out. I hope everyone stays safe and healthy :)
On the topic of milk I come from a dairy farming family, and one of the factors that makes milk spoil the fastest besides bacteria is light! So if anyone is living in a state where milk is still being limited and you need to get as long as possible out of a jug, not allowing it to sit out even after you get home from the store or letting it sit in a vehicle while you shop at other stores can help extend its shelf life.
I bought an air fryer because of you and I am obsessed. Air fried asparagus was awesome. I’d love a video with your recommended air fryer recipes.
I am amazed that you can freeze milk! Would love a video with more information on what foods can be frozen and ways to kept food longer
Jen Chapin did a video on it not too long ago. Worth a look.
There's a great lady named jamerill Stewart who has a great video on what and how you can freeze things. She's fun to watch too.
One thing to note with WinCo is it seems that they do carry quite a few name brands, whereas Aldi hardly has any
LOL!!!!!
“I better put that in my closet.” Lol I love you!!
I love your grocery hauls!! I’m so excited to see what kind of meals you make for the next month! You are my favorite youtuber I get so excited to see when you post!
Wow, thank you!
I love winco. That's my main store I shop at.
Hi, I live in NY and I’m surprised about the prices for your groceries! I just live with my husband and at this time we eat all our meals at home. When I go to the store to buy more food for two people for two weeks I usually pay $250. It’s a scary high number and I don’t even buy that much of food! I’d love to see another “cheap meals” video :)
Where in NY? We are in buffalo and are paying about $150 a week for myself my SO and my 2 year old. Looking to buy cheaper
Hi Chris. We often slice up oranges (as rings) and eat them as a salad with olive oil...sometimes we do it with apples as well but the apples get oil vinegar and salt added. We also make salad with slightly blanched broccoli, green beans ,cauliflower and blanched slices of zucchini. I'm an Aussie with an Italian background. You can also add pine nuts or crispy prosciutto to the salads. I often mix my Australian and Italian backgrounds together,
Yukon gold are our favorite too! Since we live in Texas we have to keep ours in the fridge when we buy a large bag.
Probably sounds crazy but this is my go to channel to watch during my workout.
Me too!!!! 😂
I just finished a workout fueled by Christine! Haha
I can't wait until they lift the stay at home order. Here, we can't even enter the grocery store without a mask and they're limiting the amount of people allowed into the store...usually 10 to 70 people depending on the store size. We are also still out of rice, beans, pasta and pasta sauce :(
Same here
Good for you supporting the local farmers.
Yay! You are great and you just make me want to come back to Idaho! I miss buying potatoes direct with the dirt on them. You have great energy and I've enjoyed watching your videos.
You know you can freeze eggs? The easiest way is to crack them into ice cube trays and once they freeze you can pop them out into a zip lock bag.
How do you cook with them? Thaw then cook as usual? Cook from frozen?
How do you use them afterwards?
@@kimberlymayo9951 In baking or scrambled egg recipes. Frying them doesn't really work because the yolk becomes unstable.
@@morgankirkland3118 Yep thaw them.
I finally scored a 6pk of toilet paper. Never thought that would have made me that excited. And I would kill for bread flour and yeast right now. None in my store, and my stash is getting very low. Area: Tampa Bay.
Buy the big blocks of yeast at Costco if you are a member. I am using yeast from 2012 because I keep it in the freezer. It stays good. When I open the blocks, I put the excess in a jar and put it back in the freezer. Then I keep a jar in my refrigerator. When my little yeast jar in my pantry runs out I fill from the refrigerator. Funny thing about yeast you freeze it, the countdown to when it doesn't work starts AFTER you pull it out. So, when this blows over, buy some and freeze. Also, you can buy gluten. Add that to flour and you've got bread flour. It's sold under vital wheat gluten. Likely out of stock. shop.honeyville.com/shop-by-category/bakery/conditioners-and-additives.html
Who knew we would ever be so excited by finding toilet paper?!? I finally found some packages a couple of weeks ago and I almost cried right there in the store. 😇
Publix had TP but I was shocked by their new price tag
I saw on Etsy where people are making/selling/buying flannel (washable) squares for toilet paper. Very economical and decreases the need for using the flushable stuff for most bathroom "visits".
😅😅😅😅😅
It's such a joy to see you getting stoked and energized about a BRILLIANT grocery haul!!!! You certainly bring a smile to my face.......😊

I look so forward to your videos! I had to get out in this crazy time and restock our staple items in our pantry. We should be good for another month. Lol. Stay safe have a beautiful day!
You could use the red wine in a beef stew, a beef bourguignon or the filling in a steak pie.
Ah I can’t imagine going out without mask gloves and panicking. As always so jealous of your food prices. NYC could never.
I always keep the 4 packs of wine on hand for cooking, cabernet and white. Perfect for sauces. No waste. Will last in fridge for a couple of weeks.
I agree, always look at the price per unit! Bigger packages are not always cheaper! Plus, 4 smaller containers means each stays fresher longer.
Whooooooo hooooooo I’m early xx hiiiii everyone xxxx
I typed in Cabernet into the All Recipes App and everything from beef stew to chocolate truffles came up lol. You'll find something.
Pear sauce...so good
I really love that you are buying LOCAL and if possible ORGANIC. I sometimes use your weekly menus and adapt them with organic produce and some grass fed meat. It is easier for us because we have a small family! It can get expensive.
