    The 💰 move in golf!

    I do what you showed in the first part of this video. I see pros shift slightly right on the take away and lead with the left hip on the down swing is why I do it. The result for me is I hit just behind the ball and loose so much distance. I will try this on the range and hopefully fix my weight shift problem. Thanks for this video instruction.

      Your'e very welcome, and yes you're right, although the pros can do this move to start the downswing where their hips fire before they finish the backswing but this requires a lot of mobility and flexibility, the majority of golfers have'nt got this and end up usually going over the top and like you say struggle with strike. This move helps give you that little delay you need to get the club in the 'ideal slot'. Give this a try and let me know how you get on.

      @@harryshawgolf Worked on the range yesterday. Less movement with lower body, more swinging of the arms seems to work better for me; less rotation, more lateral movement of the club and arms.

      It's great to read you've been able to implement a move that works for you, keep it up and also keep me posted!

    Harry, I've struggled to shift weight properly being prone to lateral shift and getting "stuck" in my downswing. I couldn't get the weight shift and resorted in various moves to keep a simple swing. I tried half swings but having a monster arm swing this just got me slashing hard at the ball and I struggled.
    Then recently I decided to try a fuller backswing and start my downswing more smoothly, and that was the first time I felt a better ball strike with compression!
    It's still a bit hit and miss but getting a fuller swing seems to get me starting some hip turn and helps me get a better arc in my downswing.
    Not sure if this is a real or a feel but it it's made Big difference... 👍

      Hi Lee, thanks for letting me know your struggles with this. i've always been a coach who encourages this feel so its great to read that this move has felt easier for you. I would also suggest keeping to a full swing as you mention, allows you to get more of a turn int the backswing and therefore more room for the downswing. But to know for sure what you should be working on in your swing i recommend sending your swing video to me over on Skillest. Just follow my page and we can take it form there.

    Just got a net and mat for backyard, be doing all these drills now and finally master this move. What launch monitor would you recommend for around the €300-€400 bracket?! Cheers for the info

      @harryshawgolf  Před 3 měsíci +1

      That's great to read, thanks for letting me know, with regards to the launch monitors i'd highly recommend check out the Rapsodo, or Garmin. Any monitors that give you path and face angle data are key but iI don't think Rapsodo gives you this. Take a look on golfswingsytems and use the code SHAW5 to get 5% off your entire order www.golfswingsystems.co.uk/?s=launch+monitors+&post_type=product

      @@harryshawgolf I suppose that ‘magic move’ getting pressure on lead leg during transition and ball striking drills, I generally compress my irons, but do feel I’m not getting weight onto lead leg earlier enough. I do end up on my lead leg at my finish, but certainly the early pressure onto the lead leg would be appreciated. Cheers

      Agree with Harry, I have the Garmin R10 since August last year. It's correct on the face and path angles 9 out of 10 I'd say (provided you calibrate it and take some effort to set it horizontal) in my experience after hitting around 800 balls with it. I think they mention it can be 1-2 degrees off, which seems to be correct: when I close in on 0 degrees, I do sometimes see a ball flight on the app that doesn't match the actual flight (I use it on the range exclusively) which probably is because the Garmin measures +1 degree when in fact it's -1 degree, or vice versa. Don't buy the Garmin if you are looking for deadly accurate spin numbers, it tends to be much more erratic on these.
      It's a great tool to have. It can show you unconscious patterns too, in my case the eye opener was that the more I swung on my stock in-to-out pattern, the more I closed my clubface relative to the path on impact... must be some form of autonomous muscle memory trying to save your shot :-)
