The beard and the sunglasses hide the scars from his near death experience falling off that mountain. I'm blessed to live on our small farm 150 acres, it's just hubby, me, the dogs, and the chickens. I know he's kinda bummed because tonight was the last night of deer hunting season till October.. But my man can skin a buck and run a trout line too.. He grew up on a 300 acre farm and they had all the animals.. Him and his brother were made fun of because they smell like pig poop getting on the bus.. but they had to slop the hogs before school.. came home and mucked out the horse stalls, then milking the cows.. just farm life. I have nothing but respect Very few people in this country right now want to work truly from sunup to sundown on a farm.. It's hard work.

And don't people in the country love to philosophize like you? But when it comes to issues in the country and what you vote for... Gas cheap gas. Better schools. Better roads, better healthcare, better better better better better so that I guess when you come into town once a month everything's all good and all the supplies and the bus to school has nothing to do with you paying your fair share? It's time to get out of here with that weak sauce in the United States of America because it's bull

@@pamspead9090 Uhhh. I get it. And pretty insulting to "country folk" in my opinion. Any person who lives 'off the grid' is doing it on purpose. If this fictional "something" happens these people you speak of would struggle just as much. Or maybe you've never lived in a city with base population over 7,000. I grew up in LA, but that's where I live now. This song has become the anthem of those who hate "big city" liberals, and HW Jr. knew that when he wrote it! He always made a good living off of his daddy's name.

We made our own butter, rendered our own lard, raised vegetables for sale and canned our own vegetables and meat to get us through the year. Country folks can survive.

Excellent reaction. And being in the south isn't the reason. It's more about living outside the big cities. One thing, though. Don't degrade yourself saying you can't do any of those things. You certainly can. You've just never been in a place where you had to learn to do some things. 💞🍻 His nickname is pronounced bow-see-fuss. And it could be many folks' "true story." There is far more violence in big cities in comparison to small towns.

People make fun of us sometimes. Never seen one of us care. I have 5 shotguns, 8 rifles, 2 four wheel drives, my woman, but no kids, the dogs and me. Hank Jr. did so well with this song because it's truth. We could tell he knew real country folks. We don't just grow "good ol' tomatos. We grow about half of everything we eat. We live close to the earth. We keep things clean. We give everyone a measure of respect when we meet'em. They can earn it and more, or throw it away. Up to them. We have our problems down here same as everyone everywhere. But we can still lean on our neighbors if we need help. Hank knows country folks.

Hank Jr. Has a song called 'All my rowdy friends are coming over tonight' & the NFL used it, with him changing a few words, for the intro to Monday night football for a long time. The original is a fun song & the video is full of cameos by old country stars Like Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, The Statler brothers & Kris Kristoferson, to name a few. He followed that song up with another called 'All my rowdy friend have settled down'. Also a fun too. And Hank Sr, nicknamed him 'Bo-see-fus' when he was little. Dad died when Jr. was 3 or 4. Sr, was very famous, for songs like 'Hey good lookin' & 'I'm so lonesome I could cry'. Sadly, Sr. died from alcohol & drugs, basically. Jr. used some tv magic back in 1989 & they put together a cool video where he is doing a duet with his dad & I think you would get a kick out of it. It's called 'There's a tear in my beer'. I love your open mind & heart. Also, I doubt that was the actual footage of his friend.

I was blessed to move to the country many years ago with my husband and son. Then we had to move close to my mom and dad due to their aging health which was in town. Lived there until they both passed away. We had already purchased 5 acres out in the country and moved there. Been here with the husband, son, daughter in law, grandsons and the dogs for 18 years. Nothing, nor any amt of money will ever make me move back to town. We live in the woods on the side of a mountain. Closest neighbors are the cows across the road😅. There are deer, skunks, raccoons, squirrels, bobcats, owls, hawks, and in the eighteen years we've had 2 bear up behind us on the mountain. The phone svc is lousy, the internet is slow, there is no food delivery, and we have a septic tank. Drawbacks, sure. Would I trade where I am for those things to be better? Never in a million years. Being an Alabama lady, been listening to Jr. for years. Love his music!

I was looking at the Country digital sales chart for the week last week. This song...43 years after its release was #15 last week in pure sales. The theme of this song has sort of had a rennasiance of late; reference: Try That In A Small Town, et al.
The nickname comes from when he was a baby; a vetrilocrist was touring with his dad's band. The dummy's name was Bocephus. One of Hank Sr's bandmembers starting calling Randall Hank, Bocephus.
This is one of about 15 Country songs that just go on and on forever. Hank Jr actually had two of those approx 15, this one and the 1979 hit Family Tradition; each has become absolute Country Family traditions to go on forever and ever!
The story is real according to Hank. His friend's name was Jeff. The footage is real, but I doubt that the footage matches the story.
Hank is a country legend for sure even tho he had only 10 #1 sungles. There was only the Hot Songs charts before 1988, so #1 songs were harder to come by than today where there is the Hot Songs chart and also two recognized airplay charts (Mediabase - 1988 & Billboard - 1990).
His six biggest achievements would be (1) His album charting success. He once had 11 albums in the Top Country Albums chart of 50 albums concurrently with 4 of those eleven being in the top 10. (2) He was the top touring country act for about 10 years straight. (3) He had a comeback from a near death fall to be a five-time entertainer of the year, even though he was never a media darling, and so the woke voting members of the ACM and CMA kept him off the podium for the first three years in which he should have been the winner; kinda like Wallen today. (4) He was a prolific instrumentalist. There is some CZcams videos of him at age 16 going around the stage playing every instrument. (5) He wrote songs, like Oliver Anthony that had something to say about real social injustices and/or politics. Songs like this one, American Way, American Dream, Tired of Being Johnny B Goode, I Got Rights; on and on. And (6) His longevity as an entertainer. As his lyrics say in the song Born To Boogie; "I went on the road when I was 8 years old (at or about 1958), when I turned 18 I's stealing the show". He still tours today. That's at or about 65 years touring and counting. His dad was a songwriting legend who's contribution to pop culture still goes today with songs like Hey Good Looking where melodies derived from are used for commercials and promotions even today; more than 70 years later.

Not sure if anyone answered your question about the video clip seem in the video.
Yes it is a real video clip and i have read several times that clip is the actual clip of Hank's friend getting stabbed and robbed of 43 dollars and ultimately losing his life. It is a real story. Country folks are all around this land, i grew up in Ohio and learned most of those skills there, other skills I did learn when i moved south but the majority i had learned well before I had moved.

Country folks come from everywhere. There are even country folk in California and up north.
From what I've heard the story about his friend is supposed to be real. Now whether that was actual footage of the event I don't know but I doubt it.

Everything Hank says is true...I grew up on 23 acres of county land. We had cows, chickens, rabbits, turkeys, etc. We hunted deer, wild pigs, doves and squirrels. I shot my first deer at age 8. When the world goes to Hell, we will survive.

The best concert I ever attended was in 1983 in my hometown of Wilmington. NC. It was for the North Carolina Azalea Festiva. I was working as student security at UNCW and Alabama was the warmup act for Hank Williams JR. I was right at the stage and everyone could tell that the young up and coming group Alabama was special. Both of the acts went on to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Please react to the Hank Williams JR song Family Tradition. It describes his relationship to his dad and his life story.

I love that you are Finding out who they are, and what they did… You caught that with the real video and footage… A lot of reactors do not… I grew up in a country fishing is still one of my favorite things to do. I can run a trout line never shot a deer but I can I have field dressed a few bucks 10 or so. I know how to cut it up and get the best cuts of meat and then ground up some because deer is very lean and needs some pork fat. Yeah kill porky pig dress him out, take a portion and use it for your ground meat… grew up riding horses… Had to clean the stables to get that privilege… I can change the oil and tires, and a few other mechanical things replace transmission bell housing (gaskets, and all )on a transmission… But I don’t like doing it … luckily, it was on my 73 Monte Carlo… Oh grew up doing our own garden to canning and making jellies and jams pickles too

I not sure about the story.
I mean, alot of people have a story like that.
But, the parts about being able to support yourself, through your own labor, and building a network of friends, who do the same?
    That's real.
If I've only got eggs, and you've got steaks. Maybe both of our families have a nice breakfast.
You need friends in the country.
We do for each other, without question.

The story about his friend is true, but I don`t think that could have been actual film of the crime. That happened back before there were cameras everywhere. Don`t remember when it was supposed to have happened, but the song came out in 1981, so it had to be before that.

you've no doubt heard him before "Are you ready for some Football?" popular MNF intro about 20 years ago before Carrie Underwood replaced it.
His dad "Hank Williams" is considered the godfather of "outlaw country".
A divergence from the traditional grand ol oprey blue grass country. It has a bit more rock/blues edge and less "folk music" sound. The reason it was dubbed "Outlaw" country was that it was widely disregarded and bad-mouthed by the traditionists. Think of it like East Coast vs West Coast hip-hop debates.

Hank Williams Sr was arguably the single most influential artist in country music. His songs continue to be recorded widely today, 70 years after his death. If you listen to only one song, it should probably be "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry." If you want to go further, "Cold, Cold Heart" and "Lost Highway" are also excellent. More upbeat songs are "Jambalaya" and "Hey, Good Lookin'," or his gospel classic "I Saw the Light." Due to alcohol and drug abuse, his career lasted only six years, but his influence is forever.
