RIB Relay in Residential Air Handler?? Absolutely Can!

- For this video (and possibly a couple more) I am going to take a look into some commercial style controls. They are going to fall into the traditional on/off controls so they aren't anything fancy. They look different and that is what seems to throw people off about them. It all boils down to paying attention and using learned basic theory to install or troubleshoot.
This walk-through of installing a RIB relay is not standard practice for any residential system but as you can see, it matches up and works just fine...which is the point!
I have also decided to install a fuse holder than anyone can purchase online to have a more proper looking wiring scheme. You will also notice a terminal block that was installed to help keep it a little cleaner looking (in my mind).
Hope you can pick up what I am trying to show here. I know it is a little long but that is just the way it went this time. Of course, feel free to skip anything using the provided chapters! Thank you for watching.
Sorry for the slight audio noise. Sometimes it is the unit running and sometimes it is just the camera I need to replace!

Your teaching about different type of relays very simple and easy to understand. I keep learning and watching your videos everyday. Thank you
Thank you.
Nice video! Please keep them coming. Look forward to them.
Great video like always keep them coming I just started in the commercial industry. Did a transition from residential to commercial now dealing with a lot of building management controls. See a lot of these relays. Thank you for the great information. Very grateful.🙏🏻
Great video John. Thank you.
John this is a. Great informative video you are very knowledgeable service tech and instructor always look forward to seeing new videos
Thank you.
Great video looking forward to the cube video
Very good info

Alas, 90340 is DPDT. You said DPST.
D'oh !!! 😜
See. ..told you I would!
I use a lot of them and keep a good stock on my van. One of the best features is that they are multi voltage for the signal wire because they operate off of a LED beam which energizes the switch mechanism. Who teaches HVAC/R in a room without a thermostat cover?
Believe it or not, I have been waiting to see if anyone noticed that cover. I do need to fix it. I wish I had some sort of door prize or something to give out. That RIB is a good relay for many things and they are fairly easy to understand.
Would this work for a boiler that heats 2 rooms that has a duct work fan that is on 24/7 controlled by a circuit breaker ....like to tie into the thermostat wires at the boiler then to the relay to turn on the fan when heat is called for by the thermostat ?
I am sure you could make it work. I had a teacher one time that told me to think about what I wanted to happen, sit down and draw it. Problem solved and now you have a diagram to make it happen. I bet you could do that in this situation.
Hello, I am a follower of your channel. I would like to ask you about the best machine air duct cleaner. Do you have any experience or advice for me so that I can start my own small busines? thank you!!
I really don't have that much experience with the duct cleaning side of the field. The only thing I would be able to do is start looking up reviews for different machines and do a lot of research before buying. I'll try to ask around some and see if I can get any further info to pass along to you.
@@johnjennings487 thank you so much for your advice. i appreciate it for that!!
what is the difference between a RIB relay and the the others?
Not a whole lot. I see (or have seen) the RIB used in more commercial settings. The LED is a nice visual reference in a mechanical room and it was designed to mount to a junction box.
