- So this is a 2018 ford F450 with a 6.7 liter powerstroke. 20 gallons of gas put into a 40 gallon diesel tank. In this video I will show you how to drain the tank using the fuel pump on the truck. A hack everyone should know to get you out of a bad situation.
#powerstroke #superduty #newtoyou #diesel #dieselengine
If your confused also, that’s normal, video doesn’t explain exactly where, the driver module he talks about in 2:11 is located up on top of the frame rail in the rear, just in front of the rear, you should see the exhaust bend
I showed it
I believe I saw another CZcamsr mechanic do something like this on a Kia Soul that got diesel pumped into their tank. Except in that instance, and I don't know how rare this is, removing the back seats gave him access to the fuel pump itself (which I think he had to do something with anyway). A rare win for Kia on engineering! lol
Yeah on a passenger car like that the fuel pump is under the seat like the Taurus and charger. This is a f450 cab chassis. I would have to drop the tank to get the pump. And it was full. 40 gallons
@Bearded Ford Tech Yup, I caught that about which vehicle it was..
I saw a video where they accessed the fuel pump on a van like mine by cutting a hole in the floor. I laughed because that's totally how I'll do it if that van doesn't turn completely to rust first.
@@RobDucharme no access port? Make one!!
They have to pay attention to what they are doing when filling up the tank! You should quiz them all with how to distinguish diesel and gas. This stuff shouldn't happen!
I'm going to start holding classes on Mondays and Fridays
A mechanic at the local stone and garden installation company has "Can't Fix Stupid" in the back window of his runabout F150 and across the top of the windshield of the big service truck. It's time to make a stencil and get a can of spray paint. The stencil should read "Attention A$$. Do Not Fill With Gas". Paint that above the filler necks on all the ambulances. Have some stickers made up with the same inscription and place them on the dashboard in plain view. Finally, get a large banner emblazoned with "Can't Fix Stupid" and hang it on the outside of the shop in plain view. 🤣🤣🤪🤪😈😈
Want to know something funny. There's already stickers that say. "DIESEL FUEL ONLY" AT THE FILLER. AND THE DASH. AND ONE ABOVE THE DEF THAT SAYS "DEF ONLY"
@@BeardedFordTech They need to be in neon and flash to get their attention. I forgot about the DEF. A tech I worked with back in the day used to talk about "Retrain Monday". Over the weekend knowledge would seep out of heads and people needed to be reminded how to do things. You need to hold a meeting first thing every Monday morning for these people complete with a power point presentation of what a diesel nozzle looks like and a container of DEF. Once a week take the children on a field trip to the fuel station and demonstrate how to fuel the ambulance and refill def. Afterwards hold an ice cream social and hand out participation rewards. Have some binkies and stuffed animals on hand for any who may be traumatized by the exercise. Do these people wear headphones 24/7 that play "breathe in, breathe out" over and over?
@@mlieser1230 lol. No idea about the headphones. But the sticker is bright green. And I was just telling Chris I'm going to start holding a class Monday morning.
So what about the filter and the water separator? Got those changed out? And then a little of this technique to remove any reisdual?
Yeah changed them out after draining. You won't have any residue. You will just be pumping air. But after both filter changes I added some Amsoil fuel injector cleaner fuel stabilizer. Filled the tank with like 10 gallons. Left my hose up front and used it to prime the fuel line. Disconnected it and connected it to filter. Reconnected my fuel pump driver module. Turned the key on a few times. Started right up.
Is this fuel good for anything at this point, what happens to this mixture? Can it be diluted further with gasoline and used in a gasoline engine vehicle?
No I would not dilute it with gasoline and use it in a gasoline vehicle. If anything I can use it in the parts washing machine. Other than that. No not good. Probably just put some in my parts washer. The rest put in used oil container and they will come get it.
@@BeardedFordTech gotcha, I imagined no modern gasoline engine emissions system would be happy drinking this stuff.
@@21psd nah. It would run rough. But this was a diesel engine they put 20 gallons of gasoline in. That can mess up the diesel fuel system. Not worth the hassle to try and dilute it for either system. I wouldn't want to take the risk.
@@BeardedFordTech did they start the truck or did they realize they F'd up while they were pumping?
Would be great for fires haha
will this work on a 1999 v10 f350?
Never tried. I'd have to look at the wiring diagram.
Cannot find that plug, need better location in video
Fuel pump driver module. If yours is a single Axle it's on the frame. Dually it's above the rear differential
Where to do I cash app you?
$AnthonyHeflin for what though?
Ford doesn’t have to do new injectors and fuel lines to?
If the cp4 pump fails yes.
Fuckin gold!
