People are doubting her -because- they've watched as she's been complacent at best in most cases to all the lies and scams following Austin. There's a reason people doubt her and it just proves how, in ways, she's not terribly different from her ex, trying to ignore the history and manipulating the narrative to make everyone else look crazy and off base. There were a lot of similarities between the lines, there is a reason they stayed together for so long, and in ways, they very much deserved each other the whole way through it.

The fact that the lie detector test guy is known for being a fraud makes all of this even more telling. He knows his audience are children and they’ll click on it and fully believe him.
Well, lie detectors themselves are complete fakes. There is no way to tell if anyone is lying or not. Not specifically that 1 guy
All lie detectors are bullshit pseudoscience, but his wasn’t even set up correctly, and polygraph exams aren’t conducted in that manner. He wasn’t even sitting still. The control questions (which I assume the driving and McDonald’s questions were an attempt at) were completely incorrect and you do a control phase with deliberate lies and truths to basic questions such as ‘is your date of birth x?’ before you begin the examination. You don’t get asked things like if you’ve ever eaten at McDonalds, there are standardised questions to establish their baseline. You’re also read all of the questions you’ll be asked ahead of time.
It was comical, honestly apparently this guy has a channel or something but I don’t believe he’s a certified polygrapher unless he’s deliberately doing literally everything incorrectly on purpose because… entertainment? I know it’s Austin so I don’t expect a full serious exam, just something to farm for content. But if this guy does this for his channel and this is how he conducts his ‘exams’, yikes. It’s actually kind of potentially harmful given how seriously they are taken by most law enforcement. Making them seem goofy and fun and especially like the results are legitimate can actually have real life consequences.
Remember guys:
ALWAYS SAY NO TO POLYGRAPHS. Polygraph results are inadmissible in court for a very good reason and won’t help your case if you’re innocent. Polygraphs can’t detect lies/deception. They detect changes in your physiology (heart rate, sweating, blood pressure) and any subtle bodily movement. Those responses can be triggered by a question for any reason and that reason can be totally disconnected from what you’re being questioned about. It doesn’t detect lies, at best it detects discomfort and discomfort does not equal guilt. A question might mention blood and it triggers a reaction because it might have brought up a past trauma. Or you’re asked if you harmed someone and the very thought distresses you and that will be construed as a deceptive response. You won’t have any opportunity to explain this to them. Words are never used to exonerate you, police only use them if they help the case, usually to your detriment.
That’s why having a lawyer present when you do talk is essential, so you only answer questions that can help establish your innocence (like giving a verifiable alibi). Police want you to talk, so they can set up a timeline and story in your own words that they can compare to the evidence and compare to future interviews to find any discrepancies. Unless your lawyer is with you to protect your best interests, you shouldn’t talk. Misspeaking and honest mistakes that you later correct will be noticed and be considered changes to your story, making you seem potentially dishonest.
The fact that you refused a polygraph cannot be used in any way in a trial to help prove your guilt by the state. Likewise, taking one - even if you pass - can’t be used to help prove your innocence by defence attorneys.
Something to note is that frequently the examiner administering test will read the printout after the control stage where you have to tell deliberate pre-determined lies and tell you how badly you failed the test and what a bad liar you are, regardless of the results. That’s a manipulation tactic (it’s literally suggested in some of the manuals) that can leave even honest people more nervous, even when it’s presented reassuringly (like saying ‘you’re a terrible liar. That’s great! That means if you’re telling the truth you’ve got nothing to worry about! Chris Watts’ examiner is a textbook example of this in action). It’s literally printed in the handbook for the examiner to make such suggestions.
Like I mentioned earlier, polygraphs can be triggered to spike for completely innocuous reasons so be aware that even if you’re innocent that is a line they are encouraged to use and means nothing. It’s just designed to make the subject feel more anxious and an anxious response for innocent reasons is taken the same way as anxiety due to a subject’s guilt. You will be read the questions ahead of time so you’ll know what they’re asking but you can’t control your automated physiological responses that anxiety/fear/distress can cause that affect heart rate, pulse and sweating. Even the micro movements that are detected are a very normal response to an uncomfortable question.
Why does law enforcement use a tool that doesn’t work? It tests multiple things and gives more information than just the results of the test. They will make a note of whether a polygraph is refused, I won’t lie. But keep in mind guilty people rarely refuse polygraphs (wrongly thinking it makes them look more innocent if they agree). If guilty people take them every day taking one is a poor indicator of innocence. It is a red flag, but not one that can be used against you in the worst case scenario that you’re facing trial.
The body language a person uses going in can be telling, if they get unusually nervous beforehand it can indicate they have a reason to feel they might fail. If a person is disruptive during a test and continuously fails to follow instructions it can tip police off that they’re trying to throw off the results.
Unfortunately some law enforcement do actually believe in the authenticity of the test because they don’t fully understand how it works or because of confirmation bias. Usually if someone guilty is tested they will be excessively anxious and the results will reflect that, so to some people that means it must be extremely reliable. They discount innocent people who fail polygraph tests or even ‘fail’ (ie react) one or more questions, and also discount the countless times people later proven to be guilty have passed with flying colours. Those cops can make it tempting to take the test so they exclude you as a suspect, but when you hear police say they let a person go because they passed or were excluded as a suspect it’s never just because they passed, it’s because of other exculpatory factors (or because they have no cause to detain or arrest them). Remember, they’re legally inadmissible in court and are not evidence of guilt.
You can’t be arrested or detained for refusing a polygraph. Yes, it will looked upon with suspicion, but if you’re innocent it can’t actually be the only reason you’re dismissed as a suspect, and it can’t be used to arrest you or be used as evidence in court. You’re also at the mercy of the level of training, professionalism and personal biases of the person conducting the test any you have no idea if they can administer a fair test. No attorney will ever tell you to take a polygraph, under any circumstances.
Never thought I’d give this kind of advice in a video of Austin being a clown, but here I am. Btw I have degrees in criminology and forensic science, and learning about polygraphs and the psychological tactics used both by offenders and against offenders was part of my education.
