  • Hi all Wolf Lord Rho here!
Today we discuss the events of Belisarius Cawl completing his Primaris Project... can he be trusted? Is he truly loyal to the Primarch Roboute Guilliman?
Spoiler warning to begin the events we are discussing today are from the novel "Avenging Son" by Guy Hayley. As always I really recommend you read the story for yourself first. As that's the best way to enjoy the lore, for yourself. Not only that we help to support the great Games Workshop and Black Library. Because without them we don't have this amazing lore to talk about! Link: www.blacklibra...

@@commieKalmarunion Ah, I'm on that fence.
I agree we change the environment.
I also know the environment changes without humans.
I look at it pragmatically. I think so anyway. I personally believe for us to survive the planet, we have to exploit it (not NEGATIVELY exploit it).
I think human existence is simply managing that, and dying by your resistance, hesitance, or ignorance of understanding that.
But the more people we get, the more we need to exploit (aka USE) the planet. Now, I HOPE we can do it in a way that doesn't force us underground, or basically end up killing, deer and eagles for example.
But if my existence depends on those birds and deer dying, then that's it.
But I DO agree that the more typical side of the argument on my side is denying the change to more or lesser degrees.

Cawl would have had to spend the majority of that time picking apart the gene seeds and experimenting with different changes to see what effect they would have. Supposing he only had the 25,000 on his ships, he wouldn't have been ready. Even with a very liberal estimate, the prepared marines he unveils on the ship would have had to be quite young in comparison.

I'm a little fuzzy on all of the details, but we know Cawl has the mind of his former supervisor and all her knowledge, and we know he has the memories and expertise of the very man who made the black carapace. He's got all of everyone's notes, including the Emperor's and Lady Astarte's. In ten thousand years he elevates and refines the entire armory of the Space Marines and doubles it in breadth, creates and stabilizes several new organs, and breeds an army in total secret all throughout, and then brings Rowboat out of stasis and aids in his healing. Also, he's a meme lord.

Im surprised that they call each other friend. As Guilliman is one of the most pragmatic primarch out there, its hard for him to trust or make friend with normal human, they cant share the same experiance like him. And Cawl is half way a machine . Sure a Magos biologist respect flesh more than normal techpriest but its still near impossible for cog bois to have any human connection

I dint think Guilliman called Cawl his friend, rather, Cawl called himself Guilliman's friend.
And the way i see it, it was more to assert his influence to the other members and not really to show affection.
Although it could be argued that they do have some sort of friendship

In spite of his Arrogance, I believe Cawl to be loyal, and one of the best chances that the Imperium of Man has at survival.
For he innovates. He improves. He breaks the scales of stagnant rust from the Imperial Frame.
For all the risk he entails, he is necessary.

No he may think that his brilliance can overshadow anything. But he does not wish to be the head of the mechanicum. That's actually a copy of his that wants to place him as the head. There is a bit of lore where he learns of his copies request to Guilliman that he be made the head of the mechanicum. At which point he decides that it is a flaw and makes plans to look into it. There's also another bit of lore where he is talking to the emperor. The emperor tells him that though he may think that he is betraying the emperor and Imperium he has and is not but instead is still working for the emperor under his Direction. After of which Belisarius immediately forgets the conversation ever happened.

There are members of the AdMech who refer to the Emperor as the Omnissiah (and vice versa). While we know a shard of the Void Dragon was buried on Mars eons ago, and is likely where they reverse engineered a lot of their tech and began to worship, they revere and fear the Emperor, and he can somehow communicate with them through the machine. Crazy relationship going on there. Add in Cawl's multiple consciousness personalities...

Avenging Son/Dawn of Fire was a really good book. The audio version has come in for some criticism because of the way it was narrated, but I really enjoyed the story and the way the series will tie many things together in a far more coherent and chronological way.
Alpha Primus was a failed attempt at recreating a Primarch.

Just came from the Cawl's story video, and i see no big problem here. Yeah he made better space marines, but was working on it for 10000 years, and even more importantly. He learned the soul merging technic. The Emperor himself is a creation of a similar, if not the exact same action. With that in mind Cawl has the actual potential to become powerful as the Emperor himself. Get enough, and the right souls, and he has all the knowledge, and power to rival the Emperor, and i think that could make him a great villain. Being carried away in his own genius, and start "absorbing" people for power. Becoming a rival to the Emperor, and potentially splitting the Empire into two as he is indeed rival the Emperor's magnificence, and people might decide to go on his side instead. Considering, that he is actually a living acting working being, and not some dude sitting on a throne all the time.

I wouldn't mind if the legion came back but also kept the chapter structure. I think it was the Imperial Fists that had a secret command to bring all chapters back together as one legion force. I believe it was for an ork attack on Terra; not sure.
But as I see it; each new chapter would have their own chapter headquarters on a planet or a ship and would fight their own battles. Yet if it was required; all the chapters could be recalled and reformed into legions of their founders. Then once the threat was neutralized; the legions would break back apart into their respective chapters. So in times of severe crisis; they have the numbers. Yet in times where they need flexibility and ease of movement; they will have the chapters to counter the smaller threats.
