"I don't want to make enemies, I just want to make Rocks" 10/10. Quote of the Game
I'll see your quote and raise you 1:41:49: "All of them will go at Tomer, because even though he spoke the truth... I don't like it."
You should definitely try the "win by crashing mtgo first" theme
Easy just run scute swarm
Think that would be too easy. Its not exactly a great system. Token swarm would be easy to do.
Sure it would be easy, but the fun is seeing who could pull it off first while everyone else is also trying to do it and might interact and try to stop them. Also there are a ton of different ways to do it, surely someone will try to out-hipster the others by doing something different.
Thats just chaos week
I think they've tried that before. At least Seth tried doing that before.
Phil, you're right, I also cried when the Oblivion Stone happened.
Phils "BONUS GAME" brings max joy!
crim got a lot of heat for making a good play by holding back the blasphemous act lol. omg those tomer topdecks were fire
yeah part of the issue is like Crim kind of blatantly lies a lot, I'm team Crim, but when Tomer asks him straight up why he is doing nothing and then Crim says he has "outs", and in the exit interview Crim says his "out" was letting Tomer eventually deal with it... it's like lol. Also there's been a lot of episodes now where Tomer and Crim make a deal and Crim straight up just does the opposite of the deal, so he just lied to Tomer's face. I think it's funny for the videos, and it plays up to Crim's cutthroat grixis style, anything to get the job done sort of, but I don't think Tomer likes it, Tomer has gotten jaded and defensive over all of Crim's lies and deceit unfortunately.
I just want to thank the creator of crims deck for blessing us with the best of the sword cycle. Body and Mind for life!
Hey, it's banned in tiny leaders for a reason.
@@MakeVarahHappen what is that reason?
@@domotoro3552 50 card deck means you die in two hits. Add in True Name Nemesis is legal in 1v1 and it becomes obvious.
it mills for ten not 25?
@@domotoro3552 I misread it as 20 (20+20+7 card hand+1 commander+2 or more fetches equals 20). Still, the math makes mill too much when combined with even mediocre mill cards and can be slapped onto an unkillable creature.
Phil: Everybody's having fun!
MTGO: am i a joke to you
phil slowly turning each of the rocks into basically a mini staff of domination was wild tbh
I normally hate when ppl play for second but Crim was absolutely right to hold on to that Act. Dying to the fire weaver was way better than getting locked out by Toms shrines or crying against Tomers eldrazi
so i will admit i was hopeing richared whould get rotated in when seth left and was disaponted when he wasnt but have to say i have been really happy and impresed with tom
Tom is the greatest
actually super cool decks. phil and toms decks were by far my favorites. just SO fun haha phil once again picked a deck that does HUGE awesome things and it was sooooo awesome to see it do some huge wild stuff. toms decks was super damn cool and I'd make something like that in paper if it wouldnt be so tedious to do every upkeep IRL lol
Very happy to see my deck on Clash, sorry you got mana screwed Crim! I had to swap out my high power Smothering Tithe, Mana Crypt, Sol Ring for the house ban list, but Osgir really needs that mana. Hope you enjoyed!
crim says "i don't think my deck has a way to beat eldrazi" when he has the obvious counter in Copper Tablet (you can even have 2 of them)
I’m so early, Thraximundar is still a good commander
Big Thraxy is always a good commander
_* Shudders in Uril *_
I only really played against Thraximundar in the 99, but jammed Tajuru Preserver mostly out of fear of it.
My deck made an appearance! Thanks Tom.
Cool deck! Def wanna test it out
Thank you for using Phil's bonus game clip!
On this week of "Punt or Bluff?" the audience gets involved! Will Phil pull a Richard or will Crim's cheeky Osgir show everyone how to actually play aggro? Tune-in to find out!
Ooh, the F8 explanation, it's been a while since someone talked about that on the show!
The runtime has me hyped
10:40 the moment when Crim realizes his deck gets hosed by Tomer’s
That made me laugh, I saw the gears turning in crim's brain and the slight look of panic
Kinda agree with Crim's assessment of the board wipe. It was a difficult to navigate spot. Sure he could just straight up die to Phil but he had a better chance of doing something that way. And as we saw, he was just out of the game after a board wipe.
A close friend of mine made the Don't Throw the Rocks deck, so happy to see it played here and bring joy to the whole table. I have played against it several times myself and it's always a blast.
Crim always finding a way to play mill will always be hilarious
Good game ❤️
love to see when one plsyer gets salty the whole game and gets rewarded with the perfect answer like 3 times in a row 😂 comoon tomer you got so much better with that
FYI for Tomer. Urza's Saga was an enchantment-themed set (not artifact). This being the case *and* the saga sub-type being an enchantment sub-type means that it really hits all the notes. While artifacts might be more "signature" of Urza but it'd be kind of a "card fail" if it were an artifact.
14:20 he has vigilance because he's a teacher who handles dangerous artifacts each day in class. He's got to watch his students or they'll end up like Urza and Mishra
Speaking of the upkeep deck, I actually updated my upleep deck that Seth played over 2 years ago its now 3 colors (since 5 colors is boring) and now has actually good stats (ramp, removal, draw...)
"Don't want someone to be eliminated super early." 55 minutes in?
"You're as dumb as a bag of rocks."
Shimmer Dragon: "Hold my beer. I'll show you how smart you can get with a bag of rocks."
Phil's face a 1:12:44 is just perfect!
The ankh of Mishra and copper tablet seem a bit weird in mill. Were those just in there for mindcrank?
Maybe it's just a plan b in case of things that restock the library like eldrazi?
There were a whole ton of decks I wanted to submit that I play all the time in paper. But when I looked up whether they were available in MTGO on Scryfall, there were so many missing cards.
I never realized until I tried submitting decks for this just how many cards are missing from Commander on MTGO. It's almost a different meta to some extent, there's so much missing.
1:07:15 "You really only worry about your UPKEEP." These wild mic spikes are pretty funny sometimes, although I am very happy it's over speakers, lol.
Dannnng, I miss the chance to submit every single time. This was great fun though. Good episode.
BONUS GAME got me.
RE: Tomer's Myra deck. I actually made a Myra deck but I roll dice instead (since attractions make you roll dice). Fun to play, cannot win at all :)
The thing about Harmonize is that it's never a 'bad' card, it's always the same so-so card, meaning it's pretty good when you're behind/have no board, when most Green draw sucks, so it's a nice safe card to throw into a deck that wants more generic draw, but isn't in Blue where it's really easy to come by better 'mana for cards' effects. Arguably in Black you don't need Harmonize either, but Harmonize is better than some (rarely run) Black draw, but Black has some sweet 2 mana draw 2 spells, who cares if they cost you life? Harmonize nets 1 more card for TWO MORE mana, meaning it also can't help you when you're stuck on two lands on turn 3 and need to draw into something. Red likes it more, and White doesn't mind access to stuff like Harmonize (it's better than Secret Rendezvous I think, unless you really want to give someone a leg up), so I guess it has it's place.
Fetches are so pricey in paper that even now I only have one in my Simic Landfall deck (of the true Fetchland type), and that's a Scalding Tarn because that's what I've got. I use proxies in my cEDH list now (which does seem to deter some people, even in cEDH), and I use Art Card versions of the Azorius Fetch in my Vintage deck (though I don't run Tundras, which I should just proxy at least 2 of), even my Landfall deck that would love them above all things (especially the jank fetchlands I run now!) can't really afford them, and that deck is literally using Mind Over Matter. It's otherwise fairly budget, it's just such a good fit in the deck that I felt it truly needed it, but the deck would be MUCH more effective with the Simic and all the off colour fetches to accompany the Scalding Tarn, it's just that I don't want to spend most of the deck's budget on lands that, from a certain perspective/in certain hands do nothing but cost me life. The ceiling is insanely high on cards like Fetchlands, but the floor is also surprisingly low, since they can do very little while costing you life in plenty of decks (I've seen a Burn deck running them for deck thinning... I still don't think that's enough cards to matter, but I now suspect that Dreamscape Artist can ACTUALLY thin your deck meaningfully by digging out two lands per turn if you run under 30 lands, especially useful if you run it with untap effects, at which point you can just cheat out a huge pile of lands.
I'm so excited to see this Boros Mill deck of Crim's before watching the gameplay!
When Tom says no upkeep counters...Arcane denial counters that statement and give you 2 cards in the next upkeep
Tom the new curtains make it much better!
I had a game with my Slobad Iron Goblin deck where my starting hand had all three trim lands and I was laughing my back out as I played it out.
Yooooo toggo x sakashima has been my pet (rock) deck for the longest.
Crims whetweheel had me crying 😂😂
Tomer proving why using board wipes to stall vs win is a major feel bad.
I'm confused: I won the game? What's the issue here?
@@MTGGoldfishCommander nothing at all! You just had a good loop lock against the other two archetypes. Crim begging to be taken out of the game shows how unfun being on the opposite end of such a loop is. That's all
As someone who has an artifact deck, that's how the archetype functions unfortunately. Especially when you're running artifact lands. You're on borrowed time until someone board wipes artifacts.
Oh, I'm so sorry for the poor good boy Phil
I've actually qona game before by hitting myself with a comet storm. I got myself down to like 16 life and then activated the hidetsugu with a grafted exoskeleton to deal 20+ poison to everyone but me lol
Tomer flaming Crim for playing correctly.
Tomer: I do not have any removal in my hand for the demon.
Cityscape Leveler: Am I a joke to you?
Was an extremely entertaining set of games this week.
Three Tragedies! That's the discard three card, I shout this into the void haha.
Wish there was some way you could do an 8-12 player game with all the past cast members.
"So for my job I chose artist, my deck is themed around drawing."
"Love the deck. It rocks."
I love that Toggo // Sakashima deck.
It would be cool to have the professor as a guest.
Only land I would have grabbed off the expedition map would have been field of ruin to get rid of the field of the dead.
Osgir has vigilance so you can attack, use his first ability, and still use his second.
Felt so bad for Crim. Everyone else was doing such degenerate things and he's playing prying blade :( I was looking forward to 4 howling mines being in play.
Somebody should make a Toggo alter with Axl Rose hair. Time to rock!
At 22:10 , Tomer mentions his Myra attractions deck. I have a 5C General Tazri hidden Zada + tokens + targeted cantrips deck, and have been thinking about putting Myra in it, as it seems kinda hilarious.
Is it worth it? Do I need to include anything with her as a package? I likely can't tutor Myra at all consistently, given the personal constraints I choose around non-land tutoring, but it gives me yet another hidden commander to draw into (allies: Zada, Noyan Dar, Orvar; other engines: Feather, Birgi; high synergy: Kykar, Silverfur Partisan, all of Magecraft, etc).
I'm currently planning to run every non-acorn non-prize one I can get my hands on. Is pick-a-beeble still worth it? Should I put together an acorn attraction deck too? I'm mostly worried the former goes away pretty quickly (potentially taking a spell with it, making it bad as an early hit). The latter might derail things and not actually be enough fun to play with/against to justify seeking out the cards, after the gimmick is no longer novel. Thoughts?
Tomer, it is not Crim's job to wipe the board for you. It isn't playing for second. He wasn't a threat and so Phil wasn't a threat to him.
Phil had triple Toggo and double Fireweaver. It doesn't matter if Crim and Phil are allies, if Phil had any way to put lots of lands into play -- like the Nahiri in his hand -- Crim is dead with the rest of the table.
@@MTGGoldfishCommander He wasn't dying next turn, Phil could only make 3 rocks a turn (6 if lucky). Waiting on that wrath, sacrificing some of his life to wear down your's and Tom's was definitely not playing for second, but the correct play. In fact, the proof that it was more of a problem for you than for him is that you ended up wrathing the board for him and not the other way around
Further, didn't Crim actually have the highest health at that point, so he could reasonably consider Reckless Fireweaver the least threatening opposing wincon to him? I DO think that Tomer attacking Crim and bringing his life low enough to make Fireweaver lethal to Crim was absolutely the right play as well.
Yup, 1:44:00 Crim has the highest life. Tomer at 1:54:00 "You were dying first to Fireweaver" is just not true, he was dying last given the board state up until Tomer attacked Crim and played Ezuri's Predation that turn. In MOST cases though I don't really think Crim gets away with anything either - sure, he might not die at the same time as Tomer and Tom to Fireweaver, but if Phil has any rocks on Valduk he can probably get Crim the same turn with added combat damage.
Lol and again at 1:57:30 "The fireweaver was killing you first, I don't understand" - you don't understand because it actually wasn't :) Crim had 5 more health than Tomer and 11 more than Tom.That's not insignificant against ETB-ping effects.
You never not cast indomitable creativity
When will the next viewer submitted week be and how do we submit? Are we able to make a deck list now and it be a potential pick for them in the future?
Tomer sideboarded in for Crim with the Eldrazi…
Nah, Crim didn't tell us what he was playing beforehand, it was just unlucky matchup.
I figured 😄 just thought it was funny!
Man I love when Phil is popping off. He is such a ln entertaining arch enemy xD
I see that Crim's deck was made by a Seth C. Interesting as Seth was rotated out this season. He just can't stay away lol
One of these seasons someone will run my decks and I'll be so happy. One day
Don't know how I missed this one. Mill? Toggo? I'm in. I have a Toggo & Kodama East deck and a simic mill deck. Disgusting. lol
that was the funniest shit ive ever seen 😂
Crim continuing to cry about the Fireweavers even after finding out about how they could've attacked Tom tht turn cycle if Crim was screaming bloody murder n just paid attention for once instead of tryna politic for no reason, they would've all been fine.. 😅 Very Crim of him. 😂😂😂
@2:21:03, why does War Room cost 2 life for Tomer?
I'm shocked the rocks deck isn't running feedback bolt.
Tom: you need 41 lands
Me: **visible disgust** God I pray he meant 36
Apparently this is BONUS GAME!!! week!
My Osgir deck is a Panharmonicon list anyway, so I run Altar of the Brood just for the surprise mill win.
i want a deck purely based on making as many constructs as possible lol
I would love to submit sometime, but side my decks are three different tribal decks and a UW semi-control deck, who's going to pick them?
Submit them next time and maybe we will!
PHIL, CAST THE URZA, WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!
You could have made mana rocks!
Did you ever consider playing on a non automated website?
Clash on!
1:36:31 I am forever saddened by the plight of my boy Stangg
Crim is a man of taste I see
With so many cool deck submissions, of course Tomer had to choose the most generic green one of the bunch. If I wanted to see a generic green deck, I would watch a game in almost any other format around. Ps. Congratz to the dude that created Phil's deck. First time I don't see Phil playing simic style and first time I see a cool Izzet deck.
To each his own. My deck is built almost entirely around utility lands and that's novel to me. Artifact Tokens is not. I've played and played against Toggo / Lonis / Prosper and other artifact token decks for years now, it's not special to me. But it is for you so great! But that doesn't mean Kura is more "generic" than Toggo.
Game 2: A Tale of Top Decks
41 lands sounds so high to me lol
ooooh boy 2.5 hours? Sign me up!
Hmmm Toggo/Sakashima mana rocks......think I found my new deck
Please play Break MTGO week. Winner is whomever breaks MTGO while holding priority.
master of the wild hunt is STILL a verry good single target removal for green decks
running at least 38 lands, whelp guess all my decks are out lmao
Oh sweet Phil... You really have to stop saying things like "next turn I am going to destroy all of you", or "I have the craziest of plays prepared if I just untap"... I don't know if that's a streamer thing, but your opponents can hear you
Can Tom get his microphone inconsistency fixed please it randomly spikes 😢
Oh boi Osgir is so gross. Boros having ramp by cloning artifact lands, and infinite turns with ugins nexus and war of the spark karn really makes it a unique but terrifying boros commander. Its probably good the mill theme seemed to prevent crim from playing the infinite turn combo.
I’m disappointed Phil didn’t pick my deck but this Toggo deck is probably equally as degenerate as my deck, love to see the value train
Not wanting to wrath the board when you don't need to, and forcing your opponents to do something about it, is not playing for second, it's playing correctly
2:54:30 oh so you WERE just targeting tomer despite Phil having a ridiculous board state. Ffs lmao
Tomer not going for Tron is a flavor fail :-/😢
The problem with Tron in Commander is it's not worth tutoring up once you have 7+ mana already :(
@@MTGGoldfishCommander I mean, no one is saying it was the correct option, just the flavorful one. Never throwing any rocks is also not optimal, but Phil took the challenge to his grave :)
@@Ricardo-zo1ti yes, exactly my point
There's a big difference in optimal between the two examples. If Toggo doesn't throw rocks it's usually a good thing because you have better uses for it. If I spend my tutors getting Tron over other utility lands, the Tron lands provide me no value and I lose the game since I'm the archenemy.
If I'm supposed to lose the game to appease the comments section I'd rather just be the villain ;)
@@MTGGoldfishCommander No one forced you to pick a deck called monogreen tron, tho. Next time just pick a cEdh deck if you only care to win instead of going on theme
Imagine thinking 3 hrs is a long game. Couldn't be me.
Phil Could have gotten the Acadamy ruins and gotten al your lands out of your deck

They need to force people to explain their mulligans/keeps on the podcast each week. People are so strict when going over hypothetical hands, but in practice, they seem a lot more shy about sending back a sub-optimal 7 card hand.
That's because we edit out the part that we restart the game six times because people are mulling to 5. Eventually you just keep anything remotely playable so we can finally start the game.
