    So many operations condensed in to one machine, that's incredible!

    Great video! Very informative. Been fixing these machines for 15 years now. Used to have 5 of them here, now only one. Unimat 1000, a bit bigger than the one you have ;-)

    I use a 220 width Guilet KXY with four spindles in my shop and those things save you a ton of work! Plust they put out accurately identical pieces even for thousands of feet. Great shop you have there.

    I’ve ran a 6 head moulder CNC for 6 years and I always had the table closer to the 2nd and 3rd heads then you do…well actually with all heads.:..the closer the better the finish product

    Yes, i see the moulder also cups the boards. Try again using dry lumber

    • @CanadianWoodworks
      @CanadianWoodworks  Před 3 měsíci

      This lumber was dried to 6%, I would never put green lumber through any of my machines. Will some boards still move, of course wood is natural we just do our best.

    Why did you switch to a steel wheel on the last spindle? As long as you butt the ends together when feeding the moulder the pieces won’t get stuck

    • @CanadianWoodworks
      @CanadianWoodworks  Před rokem

      I don't know what you mean, the very last wheels are rubber.

    making moulding is a dieing craft. sadly, it shows a bit in this video. after further viewings, there are oh so many things wrong. blank riding over the index cutter regardless of where infeed table is set. because the cutter is not "indexed" to the bedplate correctly. a holddown shoe past the first top head thats not even close to touching the moulding and is obvious when the next feed wheel pushes the moulding back down to the table, knives in cutterhead are too long and stick out too far just asking for metal fatigue to launch bits of knife steel at you, and NEVER NEVER TURN THE FEED ON BEFORE THE HEADS. one instance of smoked belts or motors or a grenade going off will cure you of that habit.
    really is a shame moulder setup guys don't make shit for money. this is the result.

    • @phatman808
      @phatman808 Před 9 měsíci

      it's funny, you could probably make some money consulting for these guys to help keep the craft alive but you come across like an asshole that no one would want to work with. Unfortunately in my experience it seems to be a common terminal disease among millwrights.

    • @nopenoperson3665
      @nopenoperson3665 Před 22 dny

      @@phatman808 as a former journeyman moulder setup guy, i concur with the guy calling out mistakes. sorry if it comes off heavy handed, but if you don't call it out, it soon becomes the norm and no one will be left to know any different. THAT is how trades die. woodworking industry in general is turning to shit with all cnc equipment and absolutely clueless engineers that think a list of work instructions and a nobody off the street running the machine is good enough. so people can complain all they want about what you have or in other cases of "gatekeeping" no. its not gatekeeping. its doing shit right.
