When respected flute lady Katie gives us even MORE insight than an actual vocal coach singer. Speechless. I find it fascinating how Some professional reactors pour their hearts out with admiration and respect to dimash compared to others who just end the video in shock or does 1 video and never to return and it puzzles me because if an alien landed on earth its ALL over the news and EVERYONE would be covering it on the media,newspaper,computers and cellphones. I guess some people just arnt pure of heart making them react very strangely as if their world is coming down crumbling. Instead of disgust making your intentions so obvious i wish they could just accept dimash and appreciate him. Having a musical family Dimash started training at age 5. He absolutely bleeds music. His mentor and music teacher tragically died of Covid recently and it hit Dimash very, very hard. He loved him like a father. In fact, there is a video that Dimash sings a tribute to him and you can literally see the pain in Dimash's face as he sings. As great as Dimash is he was still studying with this teacher every day that he was home. Dimash has a master's degree in music composition and has composed several songs himself such as: "Unforgettable Day", "War and Peace".

The Singer is not the usual singing show we're used to in the "west". It's for famous, established singer and on invitation only. To be invited is already considered an honor. The quality is mind-blowing - not "just" the singers, the musicians, back-vocals, production... It's more of a weekly concert than a competition, the contestants incredibly supportive of each other and the young stranger from Kazakhstan giving him the nickname "imported little brother". Dimash was completely unknown in China and at 22 the youngest ever and already this first song made him a superstar in China litteraly overnight.
@@KatieShesko in fact, he did a concert in Barclays Center in New York December 2019. He had plans to do a lot of concerts in 2020 but then the pandemic came. Dimash Qudaibergen, is a Kazakh singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He is university trained in classical as well as contemporary music, and is known for his exceptionally wide vocal range. He has performed songs in twelve languages. I consider him the best vocalist of all time and there are many who agree with that statement.
Thanks for a fabulous, informative reaction. There’s no one like Dimash. This song, SOS, catapulted him on to the global stage when he performed it on the Chinese reality show The Singer in 2017. He came second on this show. The show was a competition for well known professional singers in China. Dimash was invited to participate by producers as a wild card and wasn’t expected to go very far in the competition. Competing singers (there were 10 finalists, 14 episodes) performed live on stage and the 500-member audience panel (all connected to the music industry) voted, deciding the outcome of the results in knockout rounds - a gruelling process for competitors. He was the first foreigner to perform on the show and he was 22 at the time. As the least known artist Dimash was first up to perform in the first episode. He sang this song SOS, won this round and became an overnight sensation in China with something like 600 million views on Hunan TV. From there he gained a global fan base. He turned 27 in May this year. Dimash is 6’3 tall and has it all - looks, amazing voice and range, versatility, power, stage presence; he is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and sings in many languages. This Chinese show "Singer" had a full orchestra plus a number of expert musicians on regional instruments. Each performer had one week per song to work out the arrangement with the orchestra. This was the first song of the first night of the 2017 competition, so it was a massive cold open. And he decided to do a song in French! Crazy guy. On another week he decided to learn a special Chinese song in Mandarin phonetically, since he only knew a few survival travel words. Oh yeah, he is from Kazakhstan and is fluent in Kazakh and Russian.
You will not hear about his music in west but this guy is superstar in China, Russia, central asia, kazakhstan and former soviet union countries. His alblum 'ID' was certified platium in 30 seconds, 3x platium in 17 minutes and gold under 24 hours of its release. Majority of the vocal coaches around the globe says that he is the best vocalist in the world.

When he was a toddler, Dimash swallowed a flute for breath support, a violin for vibrato, a piano for range, and a dombra (the national instrument of Kazakhstan) for agility. After working for nearly two decades to master them all, he swallowed a drum master's whistle so he could hit a D8 note off the piano keyboard. Then he swallowed an ambulance siren so he could execute the Doppler effect of crescendo/decrescendo on one sustained soprano note as it gradually approaches, and fades into the distance while passing. I think he's recently swallowed some unknown instruments as well, perhaps of extraterrestrial origin, that he very occasionally lets us hear. Those are the sounds that leave music experts unable to explain what they just heard. If you continue with Dimash, you will hear all of this and more, and we will be delighted to watch you.

It is an amazing competition for established singers, some of them stars with long careers, by invitation only. Dimash came up second in 2017, which may tell you how incredibly demanding this show it. Jessie J won in 2018. Hua Chenyu - an amazing Chinese singer/songwriter superstar, came up second in 2018 and won in 2020. The show is a pleasure to watch, because the level and the production value are so high, and the overall atmosphere is very friendly and supportive. It is a complex competition with 14 episodes (more than 3 months), the audience is specially selected to judge the performances, they judge even the rehearsals. There is a huge TV audience of this show in China. Dimash got 600 million views for SOS on their Internet platform Weibo (they don't have access to YT). He got so popular that he needed bodyguards after it. You may check out his guest performance in the 2018 show with the cover of L. Many consider him the most talented singer in the world. Range, breath control, passion, stage presence, technique, and not bad looking. He is the complete package. Most will watch Sinful Passion next, but anything by him is spectacular. My favorite is Adagio (a Lara Fabian song). She liked his cover so much, she started collaborating with him.

Yes, Dimash was absolutely nervous before this. There is a video showing him behind the scenes, clenching his fists and his gaze is glazed. Looks like he's in shock. It shows how strong his character is, that he composed himself and went to perform THIS. !
@@KatieShesko Yes, it is very impressive. Though Dimash had participated in several singing contests - and won all of them - before the Singer. He explained once that he simply had better nerves so he won (quite humble but maybe right, ofc he had the skills too:) What made The Singer competition so frightening could be, it was a very honorable contest, only for established singers with large fan bases and Dimash was unknown "black horse". It would be broadcast to a multibillion audience. Maybe the biggest pressure was, Dimash thought as he usually does, that he was representing his country - if he didn't do well, he would have let his beloved country down. Quite a responsibility. (Dimash later told all this). I think it might help that the audience welcomed him so warmly. They had been told to, because Dimash was the first performer, a guest and so young on top of that.
This was 4 years ago. He trains every day for hours and has 2 masters degrees and working on his doctorate degree. The pandemic put a halt on his concert but he has really improved his vocals. He just put 3 songs out live to an audience and I really loved your reaction. Thank you ☺️

You Mentioned the live musicians and I believe the Chinese Singer Competition produces a far superior show to most of I’ve seen. They supported the competitors very well and the results are tangible.

I didn't hear of him until a couple weeks ago when a friend suggested I react to him. I hear he plans on releasing more music for Western audiences so hopefully more people hear of him.
Welcome to the world of Dimash! A discovery that will become a personal journey into his repertoire of musical performances. He is one artist who is better live than in studio! He is a world superstar, but only half the world is aware of this phenomenon of our generation. No thanks to how our music industry is controlled in the West. He has signed with no labels, independent, and has his own production studio and team. But he has set his sights on cracking the USA/North American market. Us fans, The Dears, wish him the greatest success. You will be hit with numerous recommendations on what to react to next. There is no defacto sequential list....as he is remarkable every time in front of the mic. But the triad of songs which include the gateway song, S.O.S., is to watch "Sinful Passion" (Sochi 2018), and "Love Is Like A Dream" (2019). Each will leave you speechless. Then for good measure, "Olimpico/Ogni Pietra" from his Arnau Tour in Astana 2019. That one should knock you off your chair. :)
As an independent musician myself, I can understand how hard it is to break into the music market. But he has such an amazing fan base that I think once he starts focusing on this market in particular he'll be very successful and find even more fans!
Dimash, singing here in 2017 in French, is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan. He started singing lessons at 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university educated with degrees in classical opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has just (18th June 2020) completed his Masters specialising in Composition, and receiving his Masters degree with Honours, having achieved the maximum score of 100% and has now in the second year of his PhD. His range is over 6 octaves (maybe 7 now) but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is almost fluent with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it. In this performance he was 22 and in a competition for famous professional singers, with a full orchestra and backing vocalists (nothing like the Voice or AGT), in China he was invited as a wildcard and after this one song was catapulted to worldwide stardom and became a pop superstar in China. He is also famous in Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries, and in Russia mainly for his neo classical work with Igor Krutoy and many of those works are very operatic, but he has now introduced pop songs there too. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register which he rarely uses, he has hit a D8 for 5 seconds with vibrato. He was on a solo world tour and in his concerts he sings for around 3 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. 6ft 3 or 191cm Dimash, is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan when he graduated but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 instruments but can play just about anything. He has is 27 now, and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum album ( platinum in 37 seconds, triple platinum in under an hour) and a new album will be released soon. He has his own record label and production company. It has been recognised that his high notes are not whistle, but head voice, Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does its spectacular like everything else about him. He has millions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dear to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having, he has worked very hard for the past 20 plus years and now his dreams as a young 5 year old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018, its on his official CZcams channel, where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. His recent sellout world tour has been postponed due to the covid-19 epidemic but will restart when its safe to do so. He has concerts lined up in Dusseldorf, Prague in April 2021 tickets on sale now. There will be others around the world including South America. This was a very enjoyable reaction and analysis, one of the best I have watched, and I have watched a lot of them. The song “SOS (d'un Terrien en détresse)” is originally from a French-Canadian musical called ‘Starmania’ from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash is from Kazakhstan. He appears here in the fifth (2017) season of Hunan Television's “I Am A Singer” competition by invitation of the director Hong Tao. “I Am A Singer” is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers. The audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode and is the same throughout the entire show; 500 with musical backgrounds and they judge the show by points each week. At 22 years old, Dimash was the youngest participant in the history of the show and competed against these professional and top-selling Chinese singers as a ‘wildcard’ competitor. The competition consists of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash’s mother later said that he hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition. This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest given that he was completely unknown to the audience. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th, for his rendition of “Adagio”, a song made famous by Lara Fabian. First place overall went to the famous Chinese Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place overall, however, lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of “Uptown Funk”. Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China. As part of the contest contestants/performers are each required to perform one original song they have composed. Dimash sang “Unforgettable Day”, a song he wrote when he was still in his teens - it's a love song. He sang in both the original Kazakh as well as in Chinese even though he did not speak Chinese at the time and had to have a translator with him throughout the competition. Here is the order of Dimash’s performances for The Singer 2017. The contest lasts 14 weeks, but Dimash has only 13 performances because he had already made it into the semi-finals by week 11. 1. Great reaction!! Nice to get comments from a musician that understands very well the technique and hard work necessary to perform like Dimash does. This was a chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan is 6ft 3, 1/4 and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, still just turned 27 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, (on hold until next year due to covid-19) he also performs in concerts with the famous russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition with a top mark of 100%. He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respecfully turned it down to persue his own more contemporary musical career. There is a flute in Dimash's cover of "Hello" and a song called Samaltau, but its a Kazakh flute called a Sbygzy (probably thats not quite right) its played in an unusual way. Dimash is the ultimate musical geek! He is University trained in Classical and Contemporary music, and also is well versed in a lot of folk musics, especially Turkic, Kazakh, and other Asian stuff. I have listened to this song Sos by Dimash maybr around 270 times and I still got goosebumps. All the songs which arguably the best vocalist in the world Dimash has sung, either his own or the covers are so so much popular now. So, it would be great for your channel & you if it is possible for you to make flute covers to some songs after reacting to them of Dimash. Nevertheless, react to Love is like a dream, Opera 2 by Dimash next. 🤘

I think for many of us this was our introduction to Dimash. It only gets better from there. You can find by looking up Dimash channel the whole Singer competition songs he does there. You may not have time. But this is my favorite SOS he has done. He was invited to come to this competition and the only non-Chinese person there. Everyone else is a professional singer or band in China. He made himself famous in this contest. You are right about the quality of the show, the musicians and production is spot on. They get one rehearsal with them and a week to prepare. I loved that little smile too, he was happy with his performance and knew he was finished and made it through
Thank you for your analysis, it was really very interesting to watch!! Although you might have now heard the performance quite a few times, let me just say that when he repeated the phrase in his "tenor" register, it was the exact same octaves as in the beginning (B2 to B4) and also the E5 - F#5 stacatti were now in full mix (contrary to falsetto in the beginning). They are the exact same, it's not an octave lower :) Mind you, a tenor B4 is already a very high note for any tenor, and if you notice, Dimash "lands" from a D6 down onto a B4 in the end of the climactic phrase. It is really breathtaking. You should listen to his tenor C5 in Sinful Passion and Olimpico. Mighty impressive!!

He is just 27 years old and is 1.91 m (6.3 ft) tall. He lives in his country Kazakhstan.
As a musician, I love that so much. Though as a soloist, I rely on backtracks, but I hope to be successful enough one day that I can hire real musicians for my music!

When respected flute lady Katie gives us even MORE insight than an actual vocal coach singer. Speechless. I find it fascinating how Some professional reactors pour their hearts out with admiration and respect to dimash compared to others who just end the video in shock or does 1 video and never to return and it puzzles me because if an alien landed on earth its ALL over the news and EVERYONE would be covering it on the media,newspaper,computers and cellphones. I guess some people just arnt pure of heart making them react very strangely as if their world is coming down crumbling. Instead of disgust making your intentions so obvious i wish they could just accept dimash and appreciate him. Dimash didnt come to make everyone NULL AND VOID no ofcourse not everyone singer has their purpose and place in music.This is life we all know there is always someone out there better than the rest they cant help it they just BORN this way which also requires a lot of hardwork wish dimash does wholeheartedly when you study his biography and journey.

Having a musical family Dimash started training at age 5. He absolutely bleeds music. His mentor and music teacher tragically died of Covid recently and it hit Dimash very, very hard. He loved him like a father. In fact, there is a video that Dimash sings a tribute to him and you can literally see the pain in Dimash's face as he sings. As great as Dimash is he was still studying with this teacher every day that he was home. Dimash has a master's degree in music composition and has composed several songs himself such as: "Unforgettable Day", "War and Peace".

The Singer is not the usual singing show we're used to in the "west". It's for famous, established singer and on invitation only. To be invited is already considered an honor. The quality is mind-blowing - not "just" the singers, the musicians, back-vocals, production... It's more of a weekly concert than a competition, the contestants incredibly supportive of each other and the young stranger from Kazakhstan giving him the nickname "imported little brother". Dimash was completely unknown in China and at 22 the youngest ever and already this first song made him a superstar in China litteraly overnight.

Dimash Qudaibergen, is a Kazakh singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He is university trained in classical as well as contemporary music, and is known for his exceptionally wide vocal range. He has performed songs in twelve languages.
I consider him the best vocalist of all time and there are many who agree with that statement.

This song, SOS, catapulted him on to the global stage when he performed it on the Chinese reality show The Singer in 2017. He came second on this show. The show was a competition for well known professional singers in China. Dimash was invited to participate by producers as a wild card and wasn’t expected to go very far in the competition. Competing singers (there were 10 finalists, 14 episodes) performed live on stage and the 500-member audience panel (all connected to the music industry) voted, deciding the outcome of the results in knockout rounds - a gruelling process for competitors. He was the first foreigner to perform on the show and he was 22 at the time. As the least known artist Dimash was first up to perform in the first episode. He sang this song SOS, won this round and became an overnight sensation in China with something like 600 million views on Hunan TV. From there he gained a global fan base. He turned 27 in May this year. Dimash is 6’3 tall and has it all - looks, amazing voice and range, versatility, power, stage presence; he is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and sings in many languages. As a person, modest, educated with several degrees and currently undergoing his doctorate, intelligent, humble, respectful, patriotic, spiritual, a humanitarian. This Chinese show "Singer" had a full orchestra plus a number of expert musicians on regional instruments.
Each performer had one week per song to work out the arrangement with the orchestra.
This was the first song of the first night of the 2017 competition, so it was a massive cold open.
And he decided to do a song in French! Crazy guy.
On another week he decided to learn a special Chinese song in Mandarin phonetically, since he only knew a few survival travel words. Oh yeah, he is from Kazakhstan and is fluent in Kazakh and Russian.
That just makes this performance even more amazing!
You will not hear about his music in west but this guy is superstar in China, Russia, central asia, kazakhstan and former soviet union countries.
His alblum 'ID' was certified platium in 30 seconds, 3x platium in 17 minutes and gold under 24 hours of its release.
Majority of the vocal coaches around the globe says that he is the best vocalist in the world.

Great perspective on breath management from you as a flautist, thank you! When he was a toddler, Dimash swallowed a flute for breath support, a violin for vibrato, a piano for range, and a dombra (the national instrument of Kazakhstan) for agility. After working for nearly two decades to master them all, he swallowed a drum master's whistle so he could hit a D8 note off the piano keyboard. Then he swallowed an ambulance siren so he could execute the Doppler effect of crescendo/decrescendo on one sustained soprano note as it gradually approaches, and fades into the distance while passing. I think he's recently swallowed some unknown instruments as well, perhaps of extraterrestrial origin, that he very occasionally lets us hear. Those are the sounds that leave music experts unable to explain what they just heard. If you continue with Dimash, you will hear all of this and more, and we will be delighted to watch you.

Dimash came up second in 2017, which may tell you how incredibly demanding this show it. Jessie J won in 2018. Hua Chenyu - an amazing Chinese singer/songwriter superstar, came up second in 2018 and won in 2020. The show is a pleasure to watch, because the level and the production value are so high, and the overall atmosphere is very friendly and supportive. It is a complex competition with 14 episodes (more than 3 months), the audience is specially selected to judge the performances, they judge even the rehearsals. There is a huge TV audience of this show in China. Dimash got 600 million views for SOS on their Internet platform Weibo (they don't have access to YT). He got so popular that he needed bodyguards after it. You may check out his guest performance in the 2018 show with the cover of L. Yes, Dimash was absolutely nervous before this. There is a video showing him behind the scenes, clenching his fists and his gaze is glazed. Looks like he's in shock. It shows how strong his character is, that he composed himself and went to perform THIS. !

@@KatieShesko Yes, it is very impressive. Though Dimash had participated in several singing contests - and won all of them - before the Singer. He explained once that he simply had better nerves so he won (quite humble but maybe right, ofc he had the skills too:) What made The Singer competition so frightening could be, it was a very honorable contest, only for established singers with large fan bases and Dimash was unknown "black horse". It would be broadcast to a multibillion audience. Maybe the biggest pressure was, Dimash thought as he usually does, that he was representing his country - if he didn't do well, he would have let his beloved country down. Quite a responsibility. (Dimash later told all this). I think it might help that the audience welcomed him so warmly. They had been told to, because Dimash was the first performer, a guest and so young on top of that.
This was 4 years ago. He trains every day for hours and has 2 masters degrees and working on his doctorate degree. The pandemic put a halt on his concert but he has really improved his vocals. He just put 3 songs out live to an audience and I really loved your reaction. Thank you ☺️

You Mentioned the live musicians and I believe the Chinese Singer Competition produces a far superior show to most of I’ve seen. They supported the competitors very well and the results are tangible.

This was my first song of Dimash too, but all the ambiance and the live orchestra sure made me a fan of this Show. Sometimes I just go and watch a full episode of it and it's granted that I have 1hr30min of great music, singers and performances.

Greatest singer in the World period. A travesty that so many have never heard of him.
I didn't hear of him until a couple weeks ago when a friend suggested I react to him.

He is a world superstar, but only half the world is aware of this phenomenon of our generation. No thanks to how our music industry is controlled in the West. He has signed with no labels, independent, and has his own production studio and team. But he has set his sights on cracking the USA/North American market. Us fans, The Dears, wish him the greatest success.
You will be hit with numerous recommendations on what to react to next. There is no defacto sequential list....as he is remarkable every time in front of the mic. But the triad of songs which include the gateway song, S.O.S., is to watch "Sinful Passion" (Sochi 2018), and "Love Is Like A Dream" (2019). Each will leave you speechless. Then for good measure, "Olimpico/Ogni Pietra" from his Arnau Tour in Astana 2019. That one should knock you off your chair. :)
As an independent musician myself, I can understand how hard it is to break into the music market. But he has such an amazing fan base that I think once he starts focusing on this market in particular he'll be very successful and find even more fans!
Dimash, singing here in 2017 in French, is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan. He started singing lessons at 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university educated with degrees in classical opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has just (18th June 2020) completed his Masters specialising in Composition, and receiving his Masters degree with Honours, having achieved the maximum score of 100% and has now in the second year of his PhD. His range is over 6 octaves (maybe 7 now) but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is almost fluent with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it.
In this performance he was 22 and in a competition for famous professional singers, with a full orchestra and backing vocalists (nothing like the Voice or AGT), in China he was invited as a wildcard and after this one song was catapulted to worldwide stardom and became a pop superstar in China. He is also famous in Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries, and in Russia mainly for his neo classical work with Igor Krutoy and many of those works are very operatic, but he has now introduced pop songs there too. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register which he rarely uses, he has hit a D8 for 5 seconds with vibrato. He was on a solo world tour and in his concerts he sings for around 3 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. 6ft 3 or 191cm Dimash, is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan when he graduated but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 instruments but can play just about anything. He has is 27 now, and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum album ( platinum in 37 seconds, triple platinum in under an hour) and a new album will be released soon. He has his own record label and production company.
It has been recognised that his high notes are not whistle, but head voice, Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does its spectacular like everything else about him. He has millions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dear to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having, he has worked very hard for the past 20 plus years and now his dreams as a young 5 year old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018, its on his official CZcams channel, where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. His recent sellout world tour has been postponed due to the covid-19 epidemic but will restart when its safe to do so. He has concerts lined up in Dusseldorf, Prague in April 2021 tickets on sale now. There will be others around the world including South America. I love you, love people who truly love Dimash, since he truly loves all his fans, who he refers to as his Dears. He is the most sincere person in the world and works hard to give us happiness.
This was a very enjoyable reaction and analysis, one of the best I have watched, and I have watched a lot of them. The song “SOS (d'un Terrien en détresse)” is originally from a French-Canadian musical called ‘Starmania’ from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash is from Kazakhstan. He appears here in the fifth (2017) season of Hunan Television's “I Am A Singer” competition by invitation of the director Hong Tao. “I Am A Singer” is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers. The audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode and is the same throughout the entire show; 500 with musical backgrounds and they judge the show by points each week.
At 22 years old, Dimash was the youngest participant in the history of the show and competed against these professional and top-selling Chinese singers as a ‘wildcard’ competitor. The competition consists of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash’s mother later said that he hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition.
This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest given that he was completely unknown to the audience. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th, for his rendition of “Adagio”, a song made famous by Lara Fabian.
First place overall went to the famous Chinese Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place overall, however, lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of “Uptown Funk”. Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China.
As part of the contest contestants/performers are each required to perform one original song they have composed. Dimash sang “Unforgettable Day”, a song he wrote when he was still in his teens - it's a love song. He sang in both the original Kazakh as well as in Chinese even though he did not speak Chinese at the time and had to have a translator with him throughout the competition.
Here is the order of Dimash’s performances for The Singer 2017. The contest lasts 14 weeks, but Dimash has only 13 performances because he had already made it into the semi-finals by week 11.

This was a chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan is 6ft 3, 1/4 and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, still just turned 27 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, (on hold until next year due to covid-19) he also performs in concerts with the famous russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition with a top mark of 100%. He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respecfully turned it down to persue his own more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 12 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano, plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. He is widely recognized as the best vocalist in the world. He speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is studying English and Mandarin and has conversational skills in both but not quite fluent yet. He is kind, humble, generous and modest, a very elegant, well bought up young man. His Dears are his very loyal fans and we number over 70 fan clubs in 120 countries globally and number in the millions, he calls us Dears because we are so dear to him. I'd suggest you follow Dimashs career chronologically as this is the best way to watch his development and improvements as he hones and crafts his skills. He is dedicated to being & bringing the best of himself each and every day. He is born, lives and dies with each and every performance and becomes the embodiment of the song. Dedicated beyond belief. He denies himself much to keep his instrument in tip-top shape. He never disappoints, although it does take a little time to get used to and accept his pronunciations in some of his early songs, as he had virtually no English back when he sang this, except Hello, thanks and I love you, lol

In 2017 Dimash received a wild-card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant of all time (22 years) and the first non-Chinese. Only professional, award-winning singers take part. Nobody knew or hear Dimash before and he also had to start first... and after this song Dimash captured the hearts of millions of viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood at his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds, over 4 months. The jury consists of 500 spectators. With up to 1 billion people see this tv-program, that's generated international interest. The performances were uploaded to CZcams... and so, we became Dimash’s Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned that Dimash would survive two episodes of the competition and go home again. They didn't really believe in him. But Dimash came, sang and stayed... for the next 3 years in China... but he only finished second in the competition because he's not Chinese (conditions have changed: The next year, Jessie J. won).
👉 In January 2021 Dimash was one of the few foreigners who has been asked to attend the live online show marking the inauguration of the President of U.S.A. Joe Biden. He is here as a representative of his country Kazakhstan and he is also here for his Dears from all over the world. This is the first time in the 67-year history of the Sister Cities and the first time since relations between the United States and the concentration camp began (almost 30 years ago) that an artist from Kazakhstan has attended such an event.

There is a flute in Dimash's cover of "Hello" and a song called Samaltau, but its a Kazakh flute called a Sbygzy (probably thats not quite right) its played in an unusual way. Dimash is the ultimate musical geek! He is University trained in Classical and Contemporary music, and also is well versed in a lot of folk musics, especially Turkic, Kazakh, and other Asian stuff. I think for many of us this was our introduction to Dimash. It only gets better from there. You can find by looking up Dimash channel the whole Singer competition songs he does there. Although you might have now heard the performance quite a few times, let me just say that when he repeated the phrase in his "tenor" register, it was the exact same octaves as in the beginning (B2 to B4) and also the E5 - F#5 stacatti were now in full mix (contrary to falsetto in the beginning). They are the exact same, it's not an octave lower :)
Mind you, a tenor B4 is already a very high note for any tenor, and if you notice, Dimash "lands" from a D6 down onto a B4 in the end of the climactic phrase. It is really breathtaking. You should listen to his tenor C5 in Sinful Passion and Olimpico. Mighty impressive!!
Ah, thank you for the info! I'm not a vocalist so I'm unfamiliar with the ranges and how falsetto plays a role in it. I'll definitely check out his other stuff!

He speaks Kasakh, Russian and English and studies Mandarin Chinese. He sings in 12 languages. He has received countless awards and distinctions at home and abroad. After competing in "I am a singer" in China 2017 he became famous all over the world.He postponed his ARNAU tour due to the pandemic, events that he will resume as soon as the conditions are met. He is also a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (6). He has ventured as an advertising model, actor, dancer and audiovisual director. (He directed the video of him Qairam Elim). He is just 27 years old and is 1.91 m (6.3 ft) tall. He lives in his country Kazakhstan.

Large portion of his performances are with live bands/choirs. It's fantastic.
As a musician, I love that so much.
Though as a soloist, I rely on backtracks, but I hope to be successful enough one day that I can hire real musicians for my music!

I recommend Sinful Passion next, just to see this man do vocal magic, if you like opera listen to Olympico "Ogni Pietra", If you want to hear an angel sing then one of his latest "Ave Maria". Surprisingly he is getting even better at singing so listen to "Stranger" also one of his newest. There is no singer in the world like Dimash and you will be astounded.
