JT: "I might be a thesaurus"
Also JT:"what is a contraceptive?"😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Also JT: what's synonymous mean?
Also JT: "I got 13/17 right..."
They are not used a lot in America, as you can say.
@@matthewshepherd5390 Yeah ! What is synonymous 'like'?
Something his Dad forgot to buy
Knackered....the most used word in my vocabulary 🤣🤣🤣
Ditto 😂🤷♂️
Same 😴!
I’m f**king knackered mannnnn 🥱🥱🥱🥱
I always use "knackered" to express tiredness and regularly refer to dim people as gormless!!
what i love about Gormless is that, there is such a thing as Gorm that has fallen out of use.
"Sometimes, the words just don't be worded" - I think you made your point well enough there, JT! 😂
Oh dear.! .... What is a contraceptive. 😳.
Mini JT/Anna coming soon 😂
I like to think he knows it as Birth Control 🤭
Love the hat, wrap up well and wear a johnny bag.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
Does anyone else watch JT complete these quizzes whilst calling out the right answers to him through the screen and cheering him on? No? Just me? OK. I'll see myself out 😂
Love you JT (and Anna) and congratulations on the well deserved 150k subscribers xx🎉❤
Yep, I do it all the time, and either groan or cheer at the right or wrong answers JT picks..
Me too 😂😂
I do! 🙋
Nope, it's never got me bad like that! Lol
Nope i do too
When the police were first formed they were also called "peelers".
*Tell us you had bad sex ed, without telling us you had bad sex ed*
“What the heck is a contraceptive?”
😆
I hope Anna knows what a contraceptive is 😂😂😂
@@utha2665 She does, she ain't so much a as a Numpty as JT.
@@utha2665 She must....otherwise they'd probably have around 10 kids running around in the background ;)
@@mana3735They seem a nice couple. They know whats up. Hope they do have kids if they want to though!
Is it in???
If you see a gormless person, you understand how appropriate the word is.
"Yesterday a lorry carrying potatoes spilled its load over the M4. People could be seen grabbing huge handfuls before the Peelers [police] arrived."😂
Lol😅😅😅😅
This after an accident of the M42 where a lorry carrying razor blades collided with a truck carrying potatoes. Drivers were warned to look out for loose chips.
3:38 US Sexual health education having a lot to answer for. that’s what that is 😂
"What's a contraceptive?" Well, JT... when a mummy and a daddy love each other very much, but they also like things such as 'money' and 'sleep', they might use those.
Also, a word not many people know of is the counterpoint to gormless, 'gormful'.
This comment levelled me 🤣. Giving "the talk" to grown adults will never not (excuse the double negative) be funny to me.
JT: "I might be a thesaurus."
Also JT: "What does synonymous mean?"
Never change, dude. 🤣
In UK we call strollers push chairs; a pram is more the bassinet style stroller where the baby lies flat.
We use pushchair/pram/buggy interchangeably, here in the East Midlands at least :)
@@lmorgzy, may be I’m of an older generation. I remember ordering our silver cross pram for our daughter to sleep in during the day for the first few months of her life; didn’t go into buggy/pushchair until they could sit up. I know that there has been a lot of design developments in last 20 odd years so that “prams” aren’t really a thing any more.
@andrewpinks3678 yeah on second thoughts, I'd probably use pushchair and buggy more interchangeably, and pram more for the bassinet type you mentioned. Not to say I don't ever use pram to refer to the latter, but maybe not as much as I first thought LOL
I'm from Lancashire, and I use 'pram' for all of them. 🙂
@@ElizabethMackenzie69im from Lancashire and call them both prams too
Growing up in Northern Ireland the slang for police was Peelers, so like the English use Bobbies that comes from Robert Peel's first name, the Northern Irish nickname comes from his surname.
Quid isn't slang for money, it's slang for a pound specifically.
Not true
@@RunrigFan Nobody calls 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 or 50 pence quid. It's always pound(s) so it is specific for pound(s)
@@RunrigFanit definitely is a £, £5 notes are fivers and £10 notes are tenners
@@tracyhagan6222 true but often we may say can I borrow 5 quid or pounds
@@RunrigFan not sure what planet you're on, but a quid is a pound just like a buck is a dollar. Its slang for the currency, not money in general. A quid. 5 quid. 100 quid. For example, you dont say "have you got some quid for the bus?", unless youre special or something...
The police are often called Bobbies, or Peelers (it’s an old fashioned term); Wellies, or welly boots as my daughter used to call them; I use the phrase Gormless a lot - I know a few dim-witted people 😂
Now you know the word, I expect you'll be spotting gormless people everywhere you go!
I know I do!! 🤣
You did great - you're only 15% gormless.
So it’s you that takes a whizz in my lift!!! 😂😂😂
Doesn't know the word contraceptive or synonymous .... "I might be a thesaurus" 😂
Worrying!
Oh the irony!
Quid is used to refer to one pound.
Quid is an invariant - it is both singular and plural, so you can say a quid or five quid.
nope i say i only five ten or 20 quid or squid as well
Chuffed to bits with your guesses today, JT!
Yes, in the UK we do call police officers ‘bobbies’ or ‘coppers’.
🐖
Or the ‘old bill’!
we also call them gathers cops fuzz police some people call them a joke old bill and many more words
Don't forget Rozzers
I've known some people who were pretty deep involved in drug crime and they called em "feds"
We aren't in America ffs
JT , you just asked what is Birth Control (Contraceptives, )
🤭
Great video, definitely go for that lottery ticket.
As a Brit, I can promise you NOBODY says Hard Cheese instead of tough luck 🤣🤣
Yeah, I knew what it meant but can't say I've heard anyone use it in recent memory
Yes we do use these words every day , What is contraception OH MY really JT lol. yet another great video . Keep at it JT 150k subscribers your smashing it, and we love the content.
I use the work knackered & hear others use it. Knackered can mean tired but it can also mean worn out. e.g. the chest of draws is knackered- It is falling apart.
Spiffing job my old mucker!
Congrats! (Easier than "congratulations " 😂
Good job saying "perambulator" and "synonym" with no problem!
Much love to y'all from WNY!
"Sometimes the words just don't be wording...." 😂🤣😂 You know it's going to be good when he starts the video by saying this!
"I'm such a good guesser..." - AKA - "I've done a ton of edits to hide my Googling..." 😂😂😂
Congratulations Anna what you calling baby haha😂
Im sure some of these are generational. There was a lot of talk of 'bobbies on the beat' or lack of them when staffing shifted away from visible policing to red tape and investigation.
I love these quizzes JT. I think you did rather well to be honest. One thing though you may want to look what a contraceptive is or you might get more than you bargained for!! 😂😂😂
Another highly amusing video, young man. Thanks for putting yourself through the mill for our enjoyment. I do wish Americans were not addicted to multiple-choice answers, though. Straight question and answer allows for creative thinking. 😅
Quid just means a pound.
Ik...gonna try and follow YT guidelines....sort of...lol
1. Bobbies - You're right not many call them that....maybe 60/70 years ago but generally nowadays we use various acronyms such as - The Fed's, Rozzers, The Filth, The Old Bill I could go on but they wouldn't meet YT guidelines
2. We are the champions at Queuing....there's a lot of queue etiquette regarding pushing in etc it can cause full on fist fights.....
Anyway just a bit of extra info....
Still loving the content and so 'chuffed' that you two have finally moved into the new house. Your happiness is infectious! JT Anna and you have had a meteoric rise and richly deserved your 50K status....congrats. Your channel is in my top five and what I love most is your down to earth honest attitudes. So refreshing from the many US channel hosts acting like the next wannabe influencers .... And not gonna lie I do have a bit of an Anna crush too ....😂😂😂😂
150k! I subscribed just as you were about to reach 2,000! Many congratulations! 💕🇬🇧👍
I think shambolic is a bit more than mere disorganised. It refers to a complete ill thought out mess.
✨ Congratulations JT on your 150k subscribers you well deserve it 🎉👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 love your channel so much ♥️ you always bring a smile on face 🤗👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 thank you!!✨
So funny to hear an American say 'gormless'!!
My old man used it a LOT, usually about us, his five sons, when we did stupid stuff as kids!! 🤣🤣🤣
We have loads of slang words for Police, plod, fuzz, old Bill, peelers........
they just go in and out of fashion.
Don't forget Coppers. 😂🚨
@@debrachapman60 the filth... 😂
For uniformed police officers "Woodentops".
@@jerry2357 😂
Filth, rozzers, bizzies, etc. We have a load of them 😂
It's funny how the word 'chuff' [one use there off] is a negative expression but 'chuffed' is a positive one in english.
“I was chuffed to bits when he chuffed off…” Yup, it’s a funny old language is ours 😂
What the chuff! Chuffing hell! You chuffing chuff meister! I'm chuffed with that last one.
Love you JT !! nothing on TV this evening, u just amused me immensely for 3 hours, happy Matt in the UK x
Police were historically called peelers or bobbies
Hi jt
Been watching you since the early days.
Glad to see you get to 150k you and anna are the most relatable couple I've seen on CZcams
Congratulations ❤❤
Ps say hi to anna for me
I thought a stroller was a pushchair, not a pram
Baby carriage is more usual for Pram.
I would concur.
You did good JT. Congratulations with 150k subs to you and Anna ,well done ♥♥♥♥♥
We love you and Anna too JT
"Bobbies" is a legit word for the police. Another one, that isn't used any more, is "Peelers", also after Sir Robert...
For "Knackered", think about the knacker's yard, where old, tired horses are sent to...re-purpose them.
Congratulations on the 150 k loving your channel keep up the good work and all the best for the future from Lancashire England
I'm from the UK and I didn't know what a boffin was.
Well done; you did really well!
No way! The boffins were always picked on at school, it was shortened to boffs very often.
150k subs CONGRATULATIONS JT🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 well deserved as your channel is awesome., my fave channel on CZcams, love it. 😎👌❤️ All these words are used throughout the UK and not just in England as the quiz suggests JT.
Congrats on 150k subs.
You deserve it. Your videos on all your channels are awesome.
Congratulations on hitting 150k whoop whoop 🎉🎉 and good effort on the test ✅️
What is a contraceptive 🤣🤣🤣 a condom is a type of contraceptive
Sos yer ma
Also might hear 'I'm cream crackered' - informal rhyming slang for 'knackered'. (Jacobs Cream Cracker is a type of savory biscuit for cheese).
Couple of different words for the police - bobbies, coppers, old bill
As a British person of 47 years i have never asked someone to borrow a "biro". Its a pen! 😂
Congratulations on 150k👍👏👏👏❤
I enjoyed that! Yes, we use most of those words daily. Oh, and your glasses really suit you!
Here's a Kiwi bit of slang for you that applies: You're a bit of humour mate.
"I might be a thesaurus" 🤣😂🤣
Great video. Congratulations on a 150 thousand subs
We really do use these words. As for what's a contraceptive, well.....😂
Aye, we use all of them
Anorak is a good one to look up
And I agree Jiggery-Pokery is right up there
Con cept ion - process (tion) of centred on (con) creating (cept) a baby.
Contra cept ion - process (tion) not (contra) making (cept) a baby.
Contraceptive- something (-ive) that helps not making a baby.
I am from England and I've heard people refer to the police as Bobby's. We sometimes say "there's Bobby's on the beat". That means the place of walking about on the streets.
JT, I would love to see you and Anna try the Impossible Quiz. It would be so funny watching you trying to figure out the answers. From Scotland so loving your hat in this vid.
Loved watching this, (1.30 in the morning) Even if you got bits wrong you still learnt new words to throw at friends at your next celebration (party) /gathering (get together). keep doing these.😄💛
Congrat's for 150 subs mate & you did well at the Quiz
Congrats on 150k subs. Deserved!
Congratulations on the 150k ❤😊
Yes your description of shambolic is bang on 💪
HAHAHAHAHA =- every day words used in Retail !!!
In some parts of the UK (mostly Norn Iron and Scotland) the police are known as 'Peelers', the same derivation as 'bobbies' but using his surname instead. Usually used in a slightly less respectful way, "Oh oh, somebody called the Peelers", without resorting to calling them the Pigs, or the Fuzz. 'Bobbies' is generally used to refer to village police constables or neighbourhood beat cops in cities, i.e. those that patrol on foot and interact, in a good, way with locals. Examples of a gormless characters would be Forrest Gump, Jeff Dunham's puppet Bubba J. or Joe Biden!! No offense intended.
yep there is no nice word for bone spurs.
In my area ,the police are known as absent 😂
You'll hear 'knackered' all the time - very common word! 'Boffin' is only really used by newspapers like "The boffins over at MIT have discovered...". A bit of jiggery-pokery going on but I think you deserved your score - you are British now :D Huge congratulations on the 150k!!!!!!!!!!
Well guessed JT. Congratulations on 150.
Well done JT x
Bobbies, Peelers, The Fuzz, the Plod, the Rozzers, The boys in blue, The Pigs, The Filth, the Bizzies, The Cops..... We have a lot of slang terms for His Majesty's constabulary.
hiya jt you did very good with the quiz an yes we do use all those words, now im knackered lol,
Congrats on the subs JT! I hate to disappoint but although some of those words are a bit dated they're still in everyday use in UK! 😇😇😇
Sometimes, if we're really chuffed we say: 'Chuffed to little mint balls'. My hubby was a bobby. Your guesses are phenomenal. Well done. 👏🏼👏🏼😉😉 Oh and the hat suits you. Billy Connolly would be proud of you. Try searching for If It Wasnae for Your Wellies, it's quite funny if you can understand it. 🤣🤣

Why did he leave the force? A delayed conscious, perhaps? 😂
tic-tac-toe: 1960s: imitative; from tick-tack, used earlier to denote games in which the pieces made clicking sounds.
Also, if you went to school in the UK and were a teen during the "2000s" we would use the term "boffin" for the smart kids, as opposed to geek or nerd which became more popular terms for smart kids later on due to the influence from American movies :) NIce vid! :)
In Northern Ireland, they'll refer to the PSNI as peelers which is slang for a stripper in Canada. Probably other places too. I know this is British slang, but the only place I've ever heard them referred to as Bobbies is in England.
Butty/ butt is also a very old word for a work companion deriving from the coal mines. It's still used by some people in Wales to describe what an English person would call a chum. It predates the scouse use of butty for a sandwich.
It’s amazing how much you take for granted in your own languages slang it really is a nightmare you do so well JT to know the meanings it’s so interesting ❤thanks
BRAVO JT, you did really well, and no you are totally not gormless. I think 'jiggery-pokery' is a 'cracking (aka brilliant) word too.
Some amazing words used, there are so many wonderful and colourful words for all sorts of things here 'over the pond'.
*HEARTIEST CONGRATULATIONS* to you dear JT and lovely Anna, for reaching 150K subscribers, who I am sure, enjoy your posts so much, and the variety too.

You would say something like "He's a gormless idiot" "He's F***ing gormless. It's just one word in the arsenal of words and sayings that we have to call someone an idiot. For me rather than just someone who foolish it's more in line with a person who looks blankly at you when you try to explain how to do something.
