    9:27 Looks so interesting, makes me wonder how it would have turned out if it had a clear resin coat on it so you could still see all the gaps and splits, but the resin helped keep it solid.

    Lovely work Andy :) It amazing that the black lines in the spalting are created by 'battle boundaries' caused by the armies of fungus competing for territory.

    I love that pattern of veiny lines throughout the vase. I liked the contrast between that and the light wood better before you used the finish.

  • @bluefalconssuck5881
    @bluefalconssuck5881 Před 4 lety +16

    Was sort of hoping there would be some epoxy work to seal it up... An asymmetrical chalice with a viewing window and see-through depth Gage... but that's just the personal bias of a pragmatist showing through.
    Visually, it is a beautiful piece. Working with "fissured" material is a risky proposition, yet you make it seem as this is a non-issue... Wonderfully done.

      Same here i was guessing what color epoxy he was gonna use and everything but nope. He pulled out the stain and there went that lol. I do like the end product tho for the same reasons you do.

    I saw light at the end of the tunnel at about 7:50, too! Lots of voids and you celebrated them. The spalting on this piece was stunning, so dark and pronounced. I really like this one, Andy! Great job, thanks!

    I think your videos are by far and away the best out there and I appreciate the fact that you're not intoxicated with the exuberance of your own verbosity like so many other woodturners who post on this channel. To help a learner like me, would you consider adding a bit of post-processing information as a "side bar"? For example, the speed you're turning, the tool you're using, the grade of sandpaper, the type of oil/resin/wax etc. Regardless, please keep on producing these excellent videos.
