So recently, and by recent I mean sometime in 2020, Maceo's famous 10V2T got replaced. Daviess County has been replacing a lot of their older mechanicals through the past few years. It's been awhile since I last scoped the place out. But I'm certain all the mechanical sirens are long gone. New sirens have probably popped up as well. It's a uniform Whelen system now, a well maintained one too. But I do miss their mechanical sirens in the outlying towns. Yelvington's "rotating" Model 5 and Maceo's 10V2T were very memorable. I wish I could've heard their other 10V2Ts but they were in more inaccessible areas or just generally hard to record well.
But the real big kicker is that Maceo's 10V2T was still working when this Vortex was first installed. For a short time, both sounded together for the weekly test. I even had that summer off, and I could've totally recorded it, but I didn't even realize this Vortex was even there to begin with. Luckily, someone else was able to record it so I linked the video below. It seems like the 10V2T was removed sometime between September and November 2020.

Can't remember if I mentioned that all the Thunderbolt 1000Ts have been replaced with 2001s in my hometown. Grand Forks, ND. A tragedy. What a waste.

How many 10Vs did this county have before the Whelen invasion? I’m also curious as to whether the WS-1000 setups in this county survived the upgrades or not.
I think there were four. There was a 10V in Stanley, and 10V2Ts in Maceo, Philpot, and a junkyard off highway 81. All the Model 5s are likely gone too. The WS-1000s might still be up though. When the new Vortexes were installed, I didn't see any at one of the WS-1000 locations. Of course, that could've changed by now.

How do you tell the difference between a vortex and a 4004
Pretty sure the 4004 is lower pitched
The controller determines t he pitch, silly. A 4004 can do voice, but a vortey cant.
