      @@trukr817 Newegg has some strange things going on from time to time it seems, but anyway..... i bought my 1070TI here in Sweden for 550 back in 2017 and the 20xx series wasn't a justified upgrade so i decided to wait for the next gen instead to upgrade, and now it's worth it, a 3080 is enough of a justified upgrade for me to consider buying it, but at the price range it is at i won't, because the price to performance is really f'ed up, and i can't believe NVidia jacked up their prices so much, i know there are reasons for it such as the shortage of the components it's made from, but i do not agree with their current price increase, from how a "normie" (someone who doesn't really get involved in their price politics) views it, it's a monstrous price increase over earlier gen GPUs

    A piss on gamers, a piss?? Hell no, AMD and Nvidia have taken a complete shit on gamers. And AMD did it the most! AMD got a taste of the expensive Roederer Cristal that Nvidia has been enjoying, and said the hell with what we have been drinking, aka Rondel Brut Cava. And from then on, only the good shit for the miners and the petty, not so goood stuff for the gamers, and all at higher prices. AMD got drunk with the power as well as an inflated ego.

    ETH mining is scheduled to transition from proof of work to proof of stake later this year which will hopefully alleviate a lot of the GPU demand from miners.

    • @brosch91
      @brosch91 Před 2 lety

      It probably will, because ethereum is one of the most profitable proof-of-work coins to mine with graphics cards. Once Ethereum is proof of stake, if I am not mistaken, litecoin is the next best coin to mine with GPUs. Problem is that litecoin is only worth about $100-150 a piece compared to ethereum which is worth thousands per coin. So I am definitely hoping this will help with the high demand.

    I think there's really nothing that can be done about miners buying most of the stock up, big changes will have to be made. Either limiting GPU effectiveness when it comes to mining, they've done that a bit but I think that was more for show, or completely bottle neck cards so gaming GPUs can't mine at all, somehow. And make mining specific cards at an increased premium so they have an incentive to make and sell them and then gamers and other PC enthusiasts can actually get GPUs for a half decent price.

    The issue is a duopoly. If you want a gaming, mining, deeplearning card -- all that GPU horse power, you only have two options. So the market is limited, and the only damage they receive is some reputation damage.
    Now this could be significant. Intel received some damage for releasing quad cores - but ONLY after AMD came up with an alternative. Likewise, since all GPUs sell well at extreme prices, there isnt a stark contrast to do any serious damage to the companies.
    In the end, waiting time also has a value - and gamers will save up longer for more expensive cards.

    • @chunkymunky4165
      @chunkymunky4165 Před 2 lety

      Waiting time has value for whom? Cutting out entire pricing schemes is a very bad strategy. You leave money on the table for potential customers. Then you only have people who are willing to save up.

    • @HexerPsy
      @HexerPsy Před 2 lety

      @@chunkymunky4165 Maybe this is my poor english - waiting time has a price?
      You can choose to get your package delivered for free, but will need to wait 3 days before its shipped -- or receive it tomorrow if you pay a little extra for shipping.
      Something similar goes for GPUs. Your GPU is overpriced - and you can wait months - or years by now - for the prices to come down... Or you can spend more and buy today instead.
      Companies dont care how consumers get their money, as long as they get paid and customers keep buying.
      They still sell out / sell fast. Prices are still way too high.
      The only risk for AMD/Nvidia and soon for Intel too, is that they make too many and have to sell below cost. Considering prices, they can produce conservatively, because demand still is high, keeping prices high. As long as one of the three doesnt saturate the market, they have no incentive to produce a whole lot more to lower prices their own prices.

Aib cards are just a rebrand, at the core they are nvidia and amd products. THEY SHOULD CARE WHERE THEIR PRODUCT LANDS, especially if they claim that they are on the gamer' side. So if those company really cared about consumers, they'd end that shit we saw since the release of the cards AND STILL SEE TO THIS DAY (the 3 million worth of xfx cards being confiscated by chinese customs) by simply stop providing them chips. But nope, nvidia and amd only cares about one thing: the number at the bottom of the receipt.

    When a low end video card costs as much as my mid ranged PC from 3 years ago, I dare say they have failed everyone but the rich. I had a friend who risked paying his rent just so he could buy a single part for his gaming pc. These are no longer affordable to a vast majority of people, and many more who risk too much to have one just so they can feel like they have more than they do, or to feel like they are rich when they clearly don't and are not. I have personally ceased upgrading or buying into gaming pcs. My current rig is 8 years old, and there is no way in hell am I going to start tossing 700-1000 for a low to mid range video card just so I can play the latest and greatest PC games at a low to medium settings. I get it is getting expensive to produce things like video cards, but I think we are coming to that point where it is increasingly becoming a rich man's market. Sort of like how college is largely now deemed not worth the investment as most careers that require a college degree pay mininum wage to not much above it.. This is the sad reality we live in today. I chose to revert to legacy gaming, there is a huge library out there and I see absolutely no need to ever spend 700-2k on a fucking video card.
    For others, 700 dollars is like pocket change.

    Nobody should be normalizing neoliberal market dynamics (market fundamentalism that maximizes profits) - it's a failed system, a sociopathic/psychopathic system, and an ecocidal system. Economic systems can be organized completely differently - and indeed they have been - it is only the past four decades that neoliberalism has controlled the narrative for the worse. Previous to this, FDR's New Deal and Keynesian economics controlled the narrative, and produced the worlds largest wealthiest Middle Class. I'll let you decide which is better. Economics can be organized to serve people first and profits second; economics (capitalism) can be taxed and regulated to fund infrastructure and universal programs; and economics can be organized to facilitate egalitarian social democracy, as in the Scandinavian model of social democracy. America's neoliberal system, and the system of global neoliberal corporatism, is an anti-human ecocidal abomination that should have put torches and pitchforks in the streets, instead of diminishing the human condition into the sad demoralizing hunger, homelessness, opioid, and suicide epidemics.

    You're making good points. But it's hardly news. There have been pallets of gpus going directly to miners almost since Ampere launched. The only reason prices are going down is crypto winter. Don't counting on getting rdna 4 or 5000 series from Nvidia as by 2024 crypto will awake again

    64 and 128bit bus in 2022 NVIDIA and AMD can go take a flying F when all new gen cards running ddr6 or ddr6x that can easliy do 256bit minimum overpriced and performance locked basically by bandwidth of the bus it smells like horse shit to me especially when the cards perform on par with cards from 2015 and 2016 at least my r7 590x has 8 gig and 256 bus not bad for a card from 2015 and hell my 1050ti gen 1 I7 950 plays rust 60fps im no pro gamer so high end cards are just window shopping better still shelf Queens that look nice but bang for buck over priced as all ways

      Buy a PS5 or Xbox???, so that those companies can control you with those "Live Service" consoles?? Not a chance .
      I'd rather play at 720p with gtx 960, 1050/60 than game on a 4k console anyday. Most of the Fun comes playing how you want too,(not how they want you to)...........you can do that on your own PC

    its not the miners fault, its a due to the shortages, we recently hitted a all-time high with mining while gpu prices where comming down at the same time. Scalpers are another problem, same happend before the pandamic with the nintendo switch. And gaming and crypto are going hand in hand with P2E (play2Earn) earning arround 100 dollar a day depending on the game and crypto thats it based on.

    The big problem with AMD is they do not have enough manufacturing capability. Remember from 2 factorys they are pushing AMD RYZEN, Epyc. GPUS, and PS5/X Box components.
