I cut firewood year round my brother ! In fact it's better to cut firewood this time of year , sap is not going up the tree this time of year. It will season a little quicker in my opinion ! Stay warm and I have nice warm fire inside the house right now . Wood heat from the wood is the best in my opinion !
Yes less vegetation to worry about, leafs fallen off the limbs makes it easier to see to cut down, less to no bugs when it's cold out, and your not sweating in the summer. Just stinks when you want to stack your wood under a tarp or shed usually snow is on all the pieces making em wet in the end..
I live 100% off grid. And I cut firewood year round mostly red and white oak. I do get my share of hickory's and black walnut I have quite a few of those on the property too. But no Pine.
David its definitely cold here on the west side. Its nice to see the mountains getting snow early but man its not even mild November snd its was 29 degrees here in Eatonville this morning. I will agree that winter is now here. Stay warm out there..😁👍

I got into watching wood cutting videos but often wonder if there’ll be trees left in a few years. I hope those cutting are also planting new ones. Someone from Norway commented on an Alaskan video to just insulate your homes properly and fireplace instead of stove, it warms up the house longer and less wood.

Wife and me miss our wood burning in fireplace, but getting too old to cut firewood and the time/trouble handling the wood. Truck load of firewood now up to $175+ which means gas is almost cost comparable, but the the convenience wins ! Switched to gas logs with thermostat so when power goes out, I can sleep all nite w/o having to keep putting wood in fireplace !! That was my #1 priority.

You ever think about hauling a small trailer behind your Tacoma? Nothing huge but would allow you to harvest wood more efficiently while not sacrificing too much safety margin taking loads downhill?
What add ons do you have for your Tacoma? I’ve got an 02 with 4 inch lift for bigger tires. 2 inch body 2 inch suspension I think. Every time I load my bed up the rear squats and the front lifts up…..do you have a air kit in the back suspension to stabilize your loads?
Maybe for most eastern gut shooters but snow comes early in our country and piles up deep. Winter is winter 21 of December is just a date and don’t mean a thing

I like heating with wood as a supplement or compliment to the regular furnace, but to heat with wood exclusively just seems like such a PITA. Spending hours and hours every year cutting, splitting, hauling and stacking wood just seems like such a waste of time. So many other things I want/ need to spend my time doing. I don't mind doing some to have some fires some times, but the amount of time and effort needed to have enough to heat exclusively with wood just seems really prohibitive and unreasonable. Plus by the time you count your time and all the equipment and other things needed from the felling to final stacking it just seems not worth it. You aren't saving that much.

I’m my area our forestry plants trees but now when we log an area we leave good healthy seed trees that reproduce on their own nothing to worry about

The weather up here northern Az. also turns fast, my winter wood is cut. Might get a extra load to play it safe.
