  • In this video I get the truck painted "dead rat flat black" which is an Eastwood color and I love it. A lot of work went into this and this was my first time painting a vehicle!! I think the results are pretty good!! Also, show all the products I used and the true cost of a backyard paint job! Hope you enjoy the video.

    Great job!! I have done something similar on 2 trucks, just recently a 1973 K10. Same deal welding holes and sanding. I used SPI black epoxy primer on it. 4 coats on the truck and 4 to 5 coats on the underside and frame. Then I sprayed black Fluid Film on the whole underside and inside all the body panels. It's a lot of work and money. You did a great job of really explaining the process for someone who might want to tackle this. I did it outside as well and just a warning to anyone watch for overspray. It can ruin your day if your not careful. Again great video !!

      I agree!! I will enjoy this truck a lot more since it's not "perfect." She will be nice and reliable by the time I'm done but I love the rugged look of the flat black with a few dings and dents in it!! JD

    Awesome Awesome Awesome. You’re spot on with the price. I painted my 85 white k10 in my garage and I probably spent $1500 on paint and supplies. The little things really add up. I raptorlined inside bed white and it came out great. Highly recommend! Thanks for the great content! CZcams White k10 2” lift and throw in a like for me! Cheers!

      Thank you Sir! How did you get to $1500?? Just curious. I plan to line x the bed as I had this done to my Jeep tub and was very happy with the results. How has the raptor lining held up? Thank you for the feedback and comment!! JD

      @@JDOffline bought same supplies as you but Urechem instead. Bought a 200$ gun and I went base coat/clear. Had to buy epoxy as well as I had bare metal spots. Then add the 100 for high build. It all just added up quick. I sprayed the raptorliner 3 days ago so no results yet. But, the reviews are really good. 140$ for that short bed is just enough. 4 quarts

      @@joshuakeith8710 It does add up quickly!! Let me know how that raptor liner holds up. Once I get my truck reassembled I'm taking it to Line x to have it sprayed on the bed and bed rails. I'll dig into the raptor liner a little more though before I do!

    I think you and the family did a great job.
    The fire 💔😢. Glad it was contained.
    That is about average price for paint supplies. Depending on the vehicle, I'm between 500 and 1500 for supplies. I'll probably be around 2000 for Frankie 😖. It's so dang long!

      Thanks. I agree and just wanted to show the real cost of painting. So many videos say you can do it for $99 or $50 and that's just not true. I'm glad I had the help of the family for sure, I don't think I would have finished on the same time line. We need a Frankie update!! JD

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  Před rokem

      It's a home made bumper that I took off and worked pretty extensively on (check out video on my channel). When I got done welding it up and adding the loop I had it sprayed with Line X . Couldn't have turned out getter in my opinion. It started as C channel and was cut and bent to fit the truck by the previous owner. JD

    JD, did you consider Maaco paint, just wondering
    I hear Raptor-liner is a great product for you bed.
    Chrome don’t get you home 🤪
    Note to self, don’t do the interior work until you finish welding and paint 🤔
    I’m kinda liking the “RED” 🤪
    How many Bud-Lights did you go through ?
