    Took in some viewer feedback for this episode and tried scripting the voice overs. Looking for some feedback on that as well as other suggestions. Thanks guys!

    I feel like you worry too much about what people think is "interesting." Just seeing maps from a new angle is already interesting, it doesn't always have to be something unused. (Your videos are great tho)

    Can we just talk about that intro? It was a zoom in on Bowser and DK. The two drive off, fly into space, and swap eachother while making noises.

    Kind of feels like there were some things missing from these two. I would have liked a rundown of all the 'other tracks' you can see in the background of each DD track like you brought brief attention to during the Mushroom Bridge segment. For example, DK Mountain being visible from Baby Park is somethjng I never knew until seeing it onscreen in your video but not once did you verbally draw attention to it. I hope you revisit these one more time for that reason.

    @TheDinkSmallwood Před 8 lety +25

    Hi Shesez I've been really enjoying the series so far you've been doing a great job! Since you are interested in some feedback I figured I'd leave my thoughts on using a script for the show.
    I think using a script for this episode definitely helped out. It allowed you to be more articulate when talking about the interesting stuff you found. I think the script made the video a bit funnier as well since you had time to think about a joke ahead of time. Some of the funnier moments from this episode for me was the ending of the intro and your comments about the giant baby bottles.
    It seemed like the main downside of using a script for this episode was that it lost a lot of the enthusiasm you had in the other videos. This is totally understandable since you are just repeating things you've already written down. Since in your videos you were just openly talking about the interesting things you found out of bounds it allowed you to share your excitement more naturally.
    I can't speak for anyone else but for me a lot of the charm for the show comes from two things: the interesting things you can find out of bounds and the enthusiasm you have for finding and sharing them with us. The script helped make the content you found in this episode a bit more interesting because you were funnier and more articulate when talking about them but you lost some of the enthusiasm since you were reading off a script.
    If you can manage it I think a really good option is to try and find a balance between the non-scripted and scripted episodes that lets you keep the benefits from both formats. One way you could do this is before you add any commentary to the episode look over the clips and make a very rough outline of some of the things you want to point out and discuss. You could also write down some ideas for jokes in this outline. Then when you record the commentary for the video you have a general outline to follow and know some of the things you want to talk about or jokes you want to make but you will still be able to talk more naturally about the clips like you did in the previous episodes.
    Again this is just my 2 cents and I know I'll still be watching the show regardless of whether it is scripted or not so you should just do whatever feels right to you. Keep up the good work! :)

    • @BoundaryBreak
      @BoundaryBreak  Před 8 lety +7

      +Dan Wow thank you so much for all the feedback and kind words!
      You absolutely nailed it on the head. When im doing in the moment commentary, im all juiced up and genuinely excited to talk about it. But with a script, im more focused on interesting dialogue and timing and so it hadnt even occured to me that i wasnt remaining consistent with the excited tone ive had in the other episodes.
      Depending on how the rest of the feedback goes I could definitely try to make it the best of both worlds!

    I have only one thing to say...and it's a complaint.
    My biggest problem with this show is that it ends...I am not the biggest Nintendo fan but I have played 99.9% of these games and the inclusion of non-Nintendo games and this series gives us so much. Thank you for putting in the time and effort into this. I hate locked doors and areas that I can't see. They entice us with "hey look over here at this thing, nope it's locked...what could be in there? You will never know, stupid gamer."
    You have satiated my curiosity and now I can't stop watching.

    Another new sub here! Just watched all your Boundary Break videos and so far this one is my favorite. I personally prefer the scripted dialogue because it cuts out any rambling and seems a bit more professional. Also, I agree about having a shorter intro. Stating the name of the game and maybe a fact about the game is really all we need before jumping into the video.
    All in all, great video! Can't wait for the next episode! Hoping to see some Paper Mario TYD in the future.

    My thoughts concerning the scripting - had it not been mentioned in the video (and all over the comments), I honestly wouldn't have had a clue you had scripted the narrative. You sounded a little more 'relaxed' perhaps or dare I say it slightly less enthused but not so much that it seemed out of the ordinary.

    Wow, how weird is it that after watching the first few and suggesting a script I get to number four and you implement one due to suggestions! The content is shown much better like this, maybe throw in a few screen wipes between video clips to smooth the transitions with those as well? (Standard outro song too?) Good content this episode and it's great to see you catch all these references. The Poochy from Yoshi's story! I didn't even remember him from the N64 one until I watched your video just then, it's been like ten years and all of a sudden I can remember his bark! • @hypurban
    @hypurban Před 7 lety

    It might be too late for you to read this, but here's the thing about scripting the narrative:
    Instead of telling it like it is (which isn't much different from improv voice overs)
    scripting gives you the chance to:
    - write in jokes
    - tell stories about the levels when you were young
    - point out related trivia that isn't necessarily a boundary break, but still on-topic
    - keep the viewer engaged without pauses, ums, and ahs
    If the script is no different than improve, then it's not really worth it. But with a script you can weave in extra narrative and jokes, while also pointing out the obvious of what's happening with the boundary breaks!
    Hope this helps

    Just found your channel through a CZcamsr named Milk, he gave you a shout out in his most recent video. Honestly your passion for this is great, and really makes it worth watching, plus the content itself is interesting. You've got my sub, keep up the great work!

    Honestly, I don't think you showed enough, I think you should do every single track. Don't just show what's beyond the boundaries, but also show what the track looks like from a distant overhead view and such, kind of like what you did for the Baby Park. I would love to see some fly-by shots of the Royal Raceway stages in particular, but again, every track would be great to see.
