Mountain bikers are the ones constantly telling us that anything under 3000€ isn't a proper mountainbike. And customizing everything is a must after you get a high specced bike like that. And they need a downhill, a hardtail, a fully, an XC MTB, and so on.
Road bikers tell us that a 500€ entry level bike from decathlon will do the job just fine. Go out and ride til you are hungry.

Almost. Road bibs are ideal, mtb shoes are fine, and you just want to make sure to not wear another shirt under the Hawaiian shirt. And only have a 2-3 buttons buttoned at any given time. Oh and you’re going to want some tall boy beers with you as well

Nah gravel is for covering big distances MTB is a real drag on road sections.

Let's be honest, an XC bike handles better even if it is heavyer and slower. I personally really do not get the point of gravel bikes, especially the tyres are kind of a joke imo, with thoose tiny little baby knobs i don't think they can grip that much. I would use a mountain bike for any trail, no matter how smooth it is. I haven't gotten to try one yet so i hope to get prooven wrong, but thus far they really do seem pointless to me.
Most gravel bikes aren't made for trails.

@JavierPerez-ev3jj The original use case were American gravel roads, which are long, wide, easy, but too uncomfortable on a road bike. Since then, gravel bikes have been used on all kinds of forest paths, farm roads, hiking paths etc. which have similar conditions. There are some gravel bikes made for trails, which resemble MTBs with drop bars, but those aren't the majority.

Lycra bibs are the best for gravel riding. I always thought they were goofy until I tried them and now I want ride gravel in anything else
@@jarnold1789honestly i peaked with sweatpants as a kid and i'm not looking back. Full easy range of moovement with nearly zero risk, since my chainring is protected fairly well a.k.a. my trousers are XD

I used to wear a fake leather jacket to my local trail to prevent both scrapes on falls and branches tearing off fabric from my shirt, along with my brother's old leather Alpinestars racing gloves, no more worries about scratches for me lol. Well, at least above the waist line, we all know the shins are never safe...
