I got to see a portion of the quilt, when I was in high school. It was quite sobering.

Hello from San Francisco. In 1987 I was 25 and living in NYC. Today I am 61. Seeing the quilt, after all these years made my eyes just well-up. RIP Mr. Jones and to all the people I knew who are no longer here with me.

I had a frontrow seat to this epidemic. It was the most horrific thing I have ever witnessed.

Absolutely. I was there and frightened every day. I cannot count the number of funerals I went to before I turned 28 years old. I stopped going because I was losing my mind.

It is so very essential that we keep sharing the history of what transpired. Thank you, Cleve, for your seemingly tireless and endless work in the movement. Am so grateful those cowards with a 6" blade failed to blow out your light. Shine on, Brother! LBGT+ rights are civil rights... are human rights. Never give up nor give in. From all fronts: let's keep demanding, acting, and pushing for Justice for All.

The lack of empathy on the faces, in the audience, is absurd. A lot of them didn’t give a damn when he talked about being beaten & stabbed. Very sad.

I agree but nothing has really changed. Look at COVID. How many didn't and don't give a damn, at least until it was their friend, their family member? How many died because of that?

It's because the victims primarily were engaged in a lifestyle that, by this time, was well known to correlate very positively with the risk of acquiring this disease.
If there was a quilt made by the friends and family of dead sky divers whose chute didn't open, you'd get the same response.
Or sufferers of liver disease who refuse to put down the bottle.

@@adamwalker2377so all people had to do was stop being gay and problem solved right. 😒

@@brajeharris3091 yeah, stop living a homosexual lifestyle, and the risk dramatically decreases.
      It wasn't a mystery.
Then go get counseling to figure out why you're drawn to such perversion in the first place.

@@adamwalker2377 they can’t just stop no more than you can stop being heterosexual. They can stop having sex anyone can do that. But you can’t pray the gay away, wish it away, talk it away, medicate it away, shock therapy it away, or lobotomize it away it’s all been tried and it doesn’t work i guess you can blame god for that for it even being a possibility to so call “choose”.
