Poor guy passed away 5 months after this. R.I.P. (October 86)
💐RIP
AIDS truly was a death sentence in the 80s and early 90s. Thank god it isn't the case now. This man seems really really honest and brave to tell it as it is. RIP Jamie!
God
What a lovely man. May he RIP.
Remarkable and commendable clarity and composure.
It’s crazy how they where so prejudice back then. it must have been terrifying when you where diagnosed back in the 80s, thrown out of your housing, fired from your job, your family and friends turning their back on you. Horrific, human beings are a disgusting race, we never learn from our ur past mistakes. I’m so glad that there is excellent medication available now for hiv + people and they can go on and live a full happy life.
I'm in my 70s now and have been here the whole time. Lost so many loved ones I have lost count. I guess there's a reason. Actually, I can't wait to see them all again......I know more dead people than living ones.
I chose to work on an AIDS floor as a new nurse He’s being realistic
I’m a Christian and I accept all of Gods children
I as well. That’s why we are to NOT accept sin . The truth is hard to handle for those in sin.
@@dianabailey5175 You are showing your teats. Who are you to decide what's sin and what's not?
@@nerdism854 I see, sinners aren’t allowed to call
Out sun???
@@nerdism854 My “ TEATS “ as you call em , are NOT showing. By the way , humans call em BREASTS .
@@nerdism854 Are you in acceptance of MY sun?
So sad. RIP - Jamie
He was very courteous. Rip❤
RIP Jamie. The early Aids victims were heroes ❤
Nice guy
R.I.P
reading some of the comments on here one really cannot help but wonder how those with so much venom and malice towards "the other" could possibly hope for their own salvation.
Oh he died 5 mos after and I am so sorry I lost 2 uncles toAIDS
Did he pass away? He seemed like a sweet man.
There is a James Ramsey Shrode on the AIDS Quilt. I looked up that full name and according to the obituary of his relative, James passed away in October 1986. It's sad to know that he didn't make it far beyond his appearance on Sally's show.

@@MichaelCultrera that was the reality of the disease back in the mid 80s to mid 90s. If you caught AIDS you would die no doubt.
So much judgement in these comments. How disappointing.
Chances are his lover contracted it too.
A loving God is not the God I know
This upsets me because he wasn’t promiscuous
So what you’re saying is those who are promiscuous get AIDS?
14:43 he's clearly not at "acceptance". He's still bargaining (blame shifting).
15:31 why didn't he believe what virtually all civilizations prior to this one said about homosexuality?
Your homophobia is disgusting.
It's interesting Adam, I've seen your hostile comments below other videos about AIDS and wonder what it is that draws you to watching them. You don't have to watch them. Are you drawn to them through homophobia?
@@RC-hc8lp no, periodic interest. I usually study something for a while and then move on. For a while I was interested in how the 80s and 90s viewed AIDS. It's interesting to view it in hindsight.Particularly since the solution A) was clear from the data, and B) aligned with what every culture before ours wasn't to afraid to say.
"Homophobia" is a solipsistic defense mechanism against the normal shame felt when the rest of us don't silence our common sense about what is normal and what is a perversion and in one voice (throughout all places and times) say that it's a perversion.
To be fair, that kind of universal opposition to what you think of as your identity must suck. It's not surprising that defense mechanisms arise.
You can't blame us. It's the same instinct that causes normal people to have the same involuntary physiological reaction to homosexuality that we have to seeing a pile of maggots.
It's the same instinct that prevents us from eating spoiled food or drinking poison or taking stupid risks. It's not reasonable to expect us to shut it off.
@@adamwalker2377 "Normal people' 'us' 'normal shame' 'our common sense'. You told me all I needed to know, and suspected, from your previous comments.
@@RC-hc8lp I'm sorry you're offended by objective reality, but I learned long ago not to sugar coat it.
There is a normal and a perversion of normal. That's not my opinion.
