The fact that the Digger himself would stand in line says a lot about the man and how he feels about you and the fans
That was wild
I've used to work with his uncle at a farm in Chesapeake, Virginia around 20 years ago and we were invited to a Halloween party at his shop down in north Carolina and I'm telling you there was nothing superstar about him, he is for real just a good guy. Treats everyone like a friend that he is glad to see.
I met the guy once during a monsterjam in Holland, he is so down to earth it's nuts. Took his time to talk with my nephew, the kid was such a huge fan back then.
Meeting Dennis Anderson would be a real treat. He is a wild man behind the wheel and seems like a guy who appreciates his fans.
What was even better was how when asked if he’d race a nitrous crown Vic he was like Yeah with no hesitation 😂
This is one of only a few CZcams channels that I feel really deserves such success. A guy took a chance, worked hard, and made it happen!
Thank you
@@ViceGripGarage The best to you and yours!
@ViceGripGarage uufda has to be a Minnesota thing. I'm here in Duluth and bought a shot glass that has it on it. Love your content Derek. Hope to meet you one day.
@@kristopherlalko7046its German. Probably lots of German immigrants there back in the day.
@@Chameleon8474 German? I’m thinking Norwegian It’s. Uff da
As someone who's worked in several trades the most challenging aspect of this effort (IMO) is the presence of an audience. I don't know any skilled laborer who enjoys being watched, but you handled it with stoic grace despite the discomfort inherent in such an endeavor.
It reveals a great deal about your strength of character.
Thank you for sharing both the good times, and the tough times, and for being an inspiration to the world in how to conduct yourself as a human, a husband, and a father.
We need more of this in the world, and your example is helping to facilitate a better future.
I agree. Hate an audience! Even coworkers. In my early days, I wouldn’t have anyone around when I first cranked over an engine that I just put back together. Nervous I guess. After a while i got over that.
Amen to that !!
You can't watch your videos now Unless you buy something
@@jackfarrell4159that’s in every way shape and form incorrect . A straight up lie
I couldn’t handle being watched.
When a legend tells you "I watch everything you do" and "I'm a fan" you know you're doin it right!
You know you made it when you have an OG like Dennis Anderson saying he loves everything you do.
@mr.babkok2544 i dont know, telling someone "im gonna build this machine and dig your grave with it" and then introducing Grave Digger to the world is pretty gangster
dude i read this comment, then i looked him up. i had no idea Derick was talking to the Grave Digger. thats badass. then i saw the replies lol, that is pretty gangster
Went to the comments to say something about Dennis, pleasantly surprised at the top comment 😊
Now I have to Google this person. Lol
Yup, I totally agree… that was a legendary moment
Derek and Dennis Anderson would be one heck of a race team. A legends legend.
Amen Brother
What a moment that was. OG Gravedigger Dennis Anderson not only says he's a fan.. but might be co-driver of the 1776 Crown Vic in the next Le Mullets race. I don't think I've ever had a moment like that in my life watching CZcams. I had two hands on top of my head, jaw on the floor, repeatedly saying OMG... WOW.
Holy shit yes!!
@@LazyBoyZR1 The man didn’t even hesitate on the offer lol he was down
Whatever this collab produces will be epic.
That's awesome to see Dennis Anderson wait in line to meet Derek and be legitimately humbled and excited to see him!!
I hope they actually team up! Dennis at the freedom factory would be epic
I would have told him: HEY ! NO line breaking!😅
It’s still mind bogglin to a Fella at how HUMBLE Brother Derek is… he deserves every bit of success he’s gettin 🤠🤘🏼
Appreciate you!
You're absolutely correct
Among the statements that are true, this one is riiiiiiight up there near the tippy top.
Derek is the man! Who else would go through an engine swap with a messed up hand like that infront of a lot of people and still being an awesome human being. You rock !
I am a 73 year old motor head. The best memories I have are from when I worked at a local drag strip in the late 60's where I was immersed in the "muscle car era". I appreciate your "car guy" attitude combined with the "heart" to educate and promote to the new folks who are attracted to you. I know it might be hard to keep providing "content", but I thank you for the good fight. The loyal folks watching your efforts at Iola are a testimonial to your work. Please keep it up !
You're one of my tribe. I'm 70 and tore shit up in my'68 Firechicken all through the 70's. Me and my buddies spending the weekends, always out in my driveway with wrenches and cold snacks. Every extra nickel went into that car. Watching Derek swap that engine was like a trip down memory lane. VGG makes Fridays fun again. LOL Cheers, brother.
@@Martin.WilsonGee, and I thought I was the only one, 74 and still doing it, lol just finishing a resto on my W-30 Olds, bought it brand new in 1972, some things never change! 👍
You simply can’t beat this style content on CZcams. He’s a class act. He’s genuine. There’s none of this that’s fake.
Derek you inspire so many people young and old. You have no idea how many of us are out here working on our own cars or giving it a shot on a budget just to keep them running a little longer. I enjoy all your videos
Love your dedication to the fans. This was so much fun and you did an incredible job, babe!
You know behind every strong successful man is a equally strong supportive woman
I think there is just as much from you. all of the hard work pays off.
Lots of genuine fans!
But what was that noise at the end! 😆 🤣 😂 left us with a cliff hanger of all cliff hangers!! Love you guys! Please don't let Derek forget us little people.. ol cleetus got rich and is playing with lambos n chit. 😔 Derek is a Legend. I don't see him going that direction thankfully
He would have a hard time doing this without you. Great families work together. You're an inspiration to a lot of folks. Keep up the good work. Congrats and continued success to you guys !
I gotta say this channel is absolutely amazing! Thanks Derek for all you do!
My prediction is two million subs by New Year of 2024.
I miss the people from the old days that were all like Derek & i expect many do :)
Derek is the real deal for sure. Great Guy, Dad, Husband and friend I'm sure. 😏👌
I appreciate that!
@@ViceGripGaragegotta love a humble man
Growing up in a two-door garage with my dad and grandpa in the 80’s and 90’s this warms my heart so much. Thank you for keeping the car community alive and thriving.
Watching Derek tough this job through was like watching an injured hockey player in overtime.....banged up, exhausted, running on empty and he guts it out and gets 'er done. Derek's a stand-up guy who put his fans and subscribers first, as always. This Snowbird Trilogy was terrific. It was special for me because a "68 Firechicken was my road muscle back in the day. It brought back so many memories. Thanks, Derek, you're the man.
Your show is the best love it keep up the good work
I get the Hockey player Analogy.......you get into Overtime, and Multiple Periods, it s about Pride....and not wanting to go off the ice Defeated. That Gear served me as an Acft Parts and service Mgr/ Mechanic....... This Airship ran this morning......it will fly again FAA Approved, because we have the parts, the knowledge......now we need the Effort. Once I had their confidence....we were ahead of the Maintenance, but I still always helped with the problem Hangar Childs. Never lost an Airplane in 10 years......and we paid insurance policies that were 1 million per seat! Normally 14 to 18 Acft, mostly 4 and 6 seat Acft.
When you get in the faceoff Circle, or Hang in a Good Line Change in OT Hockey.....that's where the Effort must meet the Task/ Goal..... That's why NHL Stanley Cup is so compelling.....even against getting paid to keep old Acft Flying, training new and younger Pilots
Derek just don’t realize but he’s a legend himself, thanks for all the great content
Behind every good man is a GREAT woman and family ✊❤️✌️RESPECT 🙏
Aww man Dennis Anderson what a legend. Never met him but from everything I hear he's quite a stand up fella.
This is a whole new level of cool when you ask Dennis Anderson if HE wants a pic! Love it!
Derek, your content is second to none. Has gotten me through some incredibly difficult times recently, and I appreciate the old soul and hustle you got. I hope you do something up in Washington at some point, would love to come out to meet ya and thank you.
Wow, thank you
best wishes, sir. hang in there.
I can relate my friend. Same for me.Watching Derek, roadkill, and others really got me through a rough marriage break up. Derek has some of the best content, and is hilarious to watch. Always leaves me wanting more.
Hi Derek well that was a roller-coaster 🎢 ride but I knew you'd do it really great and can't wait for more thanks.
Another one in the books! You have to love Derek, family and crew for making it happen. Best car channel on the web.
Wow, thank you!
@@ViceGripGaragehave something you might like. I have an old classic 69 ford galaxy 500 2 door with the original 351 winser
But I like your CZcams videos amazing work
100 % agree mate 👍
Thanks for making this poor mans corvette run top notch again,
😊
Its not always about the greatful fans,
Sometimes its about the car.
Love the community.
Derek, I'm 18 minutes in. I can see your frustration and a little anger, and you did such an exemplary job of holding it together for the people. You're a good guy an an example for all of us. Thank you for doing what you do.
Derick your videos are the thing I look forward to most, Your charisma and amazing character has helped lift my mood multiple times, Thank you for all you do for your viewers, ✌🏻👌🏻
I knew Derek could do it. Gotta love his passion for building these cars.wish I could have been there to see it. Stay safe Derek and the family much love here
Dennis Anderson is a big fan of you! That’s how awesome you are. Any future collaboration will be epic.
I'm thinking this type of thing won't become a regular feature on VGG. Gotta admire D's good attitude in the face of frustration after frustration on a real, actual time constraint. Bravo Bieri!
This man never ceases to amaze me. He gets everything running.
Derek, you are the Man! To do that swap, in front of a sea of adoring fans over a three day period was phenomenal to say the least. Always a fan favorite. God Bless you and your family.
Derek ,When you have a loyal audience like that you have proven yourself as a true hero to them, You Rock
Derek above all else is a great entertainer. I see great success in the future for him. He is also a family man. The whole package. I enjoy his videos and they are a must see for me.
Just drove past GD Dungeon yesterday. Met Dennis Anderson there several years back while he was walking through his yard. Took time to take photo with my son. Very nice of him. Son still remembers it. Same thumbs up in picture.
Disabled vet here, your channel has given me so much joy and desire to get better. I cant look at an old car or truck the same way. Thanks for sharing your family and talent. I hope to be there next year!
When Dennis Anderson looks at you like you're a legend, you know you're doing something right.
To do that in front of a live audience, retain the good humour and have time for everyone says a lot about the man. Peace and love Derek ✌
I remember when it was just a few hundred of us watching… So fun to see how popular you are. Keep up the great work!!!
Just when you thought fridays couldn’t get better in life. In comes Derek
Love the content!
Awesome job working through the multiple issues and still making the car run in time!
Denis Anderson stood in line.... That says a lot about him and you. That's awesome!
You brought the thunder! Thanks for showing all the hardships that really happen in a engine swap.
When the car started, I could see the look of pride in your face! And the folks sticking around to witness it was so memorable! Great job dar👍👍👍👏👏👏
Derek and Jessica, this was by far my favorite set of vids. What you guys do for fans, Derek you have that childlike wonder of being able to do what you do that so many of us old folks seem to have lost. Never give up the joy in what you do. Hope to catch you guys sometime when you roll across the mountains from TN into NC. Thank you!
As some one who has decided to try to start their own automotive CZcams channel I can tell you the determination it takes to start it and build it into something like Derek has is awe inspiring. Derek was my inspiration in starting up mine he shows you can do this and still keep family the priority. I don't ever expect my channel to be even a 1/1000 as good as VGG just want to have fun and share some knowledge like my dad shared with me. Thank you Derek for everything you do and the inspiration you are.
I stayed up till 1:30 am to finish this video. Derek, suffering thru that injured paw just proves that you are a man of great character . lesser folk would have called the game. not you. thanks. we are truly watching a legend in our time.
The genuine interaction between you and Dennis Anderson was just cool. And that look when you find out your hero watches your CZcams channel... So dang cool. Maybe even see y'all doing crown Vic stuff....oh man that will be cool. And you know he will probably bring the king sling ride truck. That would be amazing at an event like that(I imagine fairly lucrative as well)
Awesome job Derek! Love everything you do and your channel! Best part of the day, is when VGG drops the video
I hope one day I can shake the hand of the man who puts a smile on my face and inspired me to finish my project that’s been sitting for 2yrs. Thank you Derek
Bro! I can't believe Dennis Anderson stood in line to wait to meet you. What a bad ass surprise for you and for the video. Hilarious that Jessica told him you were out of time for pictures hahaha.
I'm loving this build. But then I love all you do, thanks Derek for yet another entertaining, informative and just plain great episode.
I enjoyed the these past few episodes- amazing fans to just stand there, help when you ask and being supportive of your project.
Great way to show kids how to overcome obstacles ! Great Job Derek ! TIMBO !
when people are willing to stand all day in the scorching sun, you are a sprcial man Derick
What an amazing 3 part series - VCG just showed the downs and lows of working on a car in front of fans no less. This series was just so entertaining.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great job my good man👍👍
You're soo great at working in front of all those people staring. I Love how you interact with the crowd. Well done as always!
A lot to make happen in 3 days. A fella learned something today 👍 thanks
Man, you know a guy's done sumthin' when Dennis Anderson comes along and wants a pic with ya!
The end, with everyone cheering was awesome. Then, when he thanked everyone, it was even better.
Derek is a legend , he always gives it 💯 , there is no such thing as can’t in his vocabulary. Great job Derek . Cheers 🇨🇦
❤ that was absolutely badass ..... You not only yanked a motor and transmission but you did it with an audience and you got running and working... That is awesome!! Love watching your content... So good 👍
Now that’s awesome Dennis Anderson waited to see you! A feller can imagine a revival with Mr. Anderson future.
I don't know how a feller did that for 3 days. Trying to work with people watching is such a pressure cooker. Most impressive!
Well I would say this, Derek, you have officially reached celebratory status! Your the man! Never stop wrenching!
Another awesome vidjoe, I have to say my favorite part was the meeting up with Dennis Anderson. Looking forward to seeing him partner up with Derek for the next Crown Vic race.
Dennis Anderson!? Are you kidding me? That's so awesome! I still love the show, keep it up!
Never thought I'd see myself in a Vice Grip Garage video. Thanks Derek for all you do!
Never doubted you for a minute!!! Way to go, brother! Money shot was seeing you rolling with the family unit there at the end!
Excellent video Derek :) also good planning and work to fix a problem also solve fast too !
AANNDD, We Have Another WINNER!!! Congratulations, Derek, You've just brought another one back to life, and with the Legendary GRAVEDIGGER watching and rootin' you on. From one Legend to another, it don't get any better than this. God Bless and stay safe, and now go take care of that hand.🤩💯👍🏁
What an amazing effort... and what dedication and support from your fans. You are truly an inspiration to us all.... Will Rogers soaked in grease, surrounded by family and driven by hard work, goodwill and a tremendous sense of humor.
Thank you for all you do!
Wow, thank you
I'd have been front row sitting with a Esky full of cold snacks but I'm at home watching with a fridge full 😁
Wobble pops be a tastin' good. 👍😎🍻
So awesome that you got it running. I watched every minute of it.
I enjoy turning wrenches. It can be challenging, defeating, exhausting. But firing that thing up for the first time, or taking it for a drive after a repair knowing you made something better is like no other feeling. Could not imagine doing all of that in front of an audience. Derek, thank you for what you do. This is the best automotive type channel on the tube, hands down.
Thanks for making the show. The cap and plugs went to a guy that stood in the same spot all day, but wasn’t there to see it run. We got one of the coveted VG key chains and a nice high-5 at the end of the day. Derrick seemed to be a very nice guy stopping to answer shouted questions while politely ignoring the hecklers.
I genuinely love and respect how you show what it really takes to "toss an engine into a empty hole" Other shows, Tubes, etc. gloss over the mathAmatitculs and just show how easy it was. Kudos to you feller!
Derek you are a genuineness and a stubborn man! Good temper too, cuz I would have used the gaz can and matches on it before you had it running! 😂😂 Awsome content, congrats on having it started to you and your team! So much live spectators that stayed for the end result! 👌👊👍❤️
Way to go 👍 Painful Pontiac which are GM test cars, strange motors odd ball fittings starters shoved in where only lifting allows access. Way to go. Even if delayed till edited fully a wire redo would be educational and interesting but may drive you MAD. Maybe in the cold dead of winter or when hell freezes over. Good series glad for you!
My favorite day of the week! Thanks for the content Derek!
This is an awesome series!! I love the revival and road trip videos the best. I know they are probably expensive and very time consuming, so thank for the entertainment 🍻🤙🏻
Lots of things can go wrong in a swap and a bunch did. But he fixed them faster than anyone I have ever seen. What a good old NoDak farm boy!
Derek your and your whole family are amazing. Thanks for entertainment
Like seeing flying sparks garage involved.
Aaron and Emily are good people.
That is a fun thing you did there sir. Love ya

It's hard not to say bad words when you have a hurt paw and have to use it. Bumping it 1000 times more than usual goes along with that.
Outstanding! Saw the beginning live, can’t wait to see the finish. And yes, I still use air tools. Thanks for all you do! ~ Chuck. P.S. If you ever wondered how this guy got to where he his - look at how he didn’t quit until this was running. And anyone that helped him along the way, got a real thank you. That’s how it’s supposed to be.
He is an inspiration to many of us.

Awesome job Derek! That new engine is beautiful in the 68 firebird. I really feel bad for you that you hurt your hand. I can't wait to watch more on that 68 firebird. Bring the Thunder!
Was there on Friday. How you pulled this off with all the setbacks. Amazing determination, self control, and patience, all while taking time for your fans. Thanks for being real (Jessica was also). Hope you come back to Wisconsin soon.
What a super nice guy to spend so much time working hurt and talking to fans ❤
Mr. Dennis Anderson....what a legend... 👍
Derek, Jessica and the boys have made something special with the channel and it's always getting better. Here's to the the Vice Grip Garage success. Hoorah!!!
Glad to see you got the old bird running. Didn't have a chance to get to watch you work (was busy helping out at gate 2) but it was fun seeing you running around looking for parts and peeking in while going past to see the progress. I hope you and your crew had a fun time at Iola and thank you for being there.

Way to go Derek and team. What a great series to watch. Thanks for another great video and I can’t wait for the next one.
You basically swapped engines in your driveway. Man the more I see you work the more I believe you’re a beast. No excuses for my bs projects.
Hey Brother,
You needed a helper to stage parts for you. Great series of videos. Can't wait to see more of that Firebird.
I love the interaction between Derek and his audience (both live and video). A guy includes all of his family, too.
Imagine the interaction if that car fell off the jack stands while he put it in gear. Might see some of those go-to-the hospital rigs show up.
