I haven't seen this movie in over 10 years. Still love this movie. But I just re-watched it on Disney plus, it's slightly cheesy, but man the story is phenomenal. I actually teared up on some scenes they're so touching. When your older you understand better
I love how Nat King Cole's "L-O-V-E" is the opening for this film and his daughter Natalie Cole's "This Will Be" is the ending Has anyone else noticed this?
Well.. maybe the wedding on the QE2 is unrealistic. I am nowhere near ready to be married, let alone be in a relationship. Even at 24 years old. I'm not ready until I've built a solid career for myself (so far so good though *fingers crossed*) and fully embrace the things that make me happy. Until the day I'm ready to look for someone, it's really nice to dream what finding love would be like. Sorry lol I just wanted to share :P
I first saw it when I was 5 or 6. And yet I didn’t fully appreciate the movie until I got older. All I initially remember was being drawn by the VHS cover along with Blue’s Clues Birthday. So I know how you feel
Me too! I wanted to sail the QE2 after getting married, instead of driving/flying to my honeymoon. I guess I’ve got to choose another Cunard ship though...
When I was little, I didn’t watch this movie a lot. I guess I wasn’t used to movies running over 2 hours. But I appreciate the Parent Trap even more as a young adult and who’s lucky to live with both mom and dad
When I was a kid, I didn't think much of it. Now as an adult planning to have children, holy shit. I know this is a story, and I suppose I can only imagine this as a doing this in real life. However, human beings have surprised me before....
Yes, parents can also be cruel! In this case, Nick and Elizabeth acted stupid and immature to the point of NOT being able to "share" their own kids, just like Mitch and Maggie did in the original version!
Such a beautifully shot movie. The cinematography, shots, music, screenplay, actors are amazing. Everything is so neat, delicate and perfectly well balanced. You can tell it was directed by a woman.
My Grandparents went on this beautiful ship (The QE2) in 1987, one year after the story takes place. I have all their souvenirs from their cruise. The ship is now a floating hotel in Dubai. The interiors dance and dinner scenes were shot on the Queen Mary, which sailed from the 1930s-1960s and is a floating hotel and museum in Long Beach, California
i was married in 1984. Our wedding, even though not on a cruise ship was just as magical and romantic. I am sad to say we divorced. I got on my face before God and asked him to heal the marriage. Sadly, she died last year. I still believe in love and there will be another wedding day that will be magical in it's own way.
Billy Capps I am so so sorry to hear that Clearly you loved her dearly I promise to pray that you and your beloved reunite in heaven Stay strong sir, you'll find love once again May you gain all the happiness in the world
They were really young when they married so make sence a lot of bad choices happen, was a big misunderstanding and both were really proud and stubborn people, the problem was they mix their dauthers there. On the scene of firm you see that Elizabeth was 23 and Nick 24(I m 25 and I'm still strogling with have a job on the path I want , and my mind is very far of want to be married or have kids)
2 seconds in and I'm already crying! I remember being Loahn's age when this came out, now watching this she looks like a little kid, and I'm closer to the parent's age
I was 6 when this movie came out, so Lindsay seemed so old and mature to me then. lol. But now she looks like a little girl when I watch it as an adult.
@@garygallagher6 well they knew each other on the ship if I remember well and get married on the same 🤔so makes sence, and they split a few time later of the twins were born or even before (both said they were really crazy back then xD and for the develop of things I think is true)
I remember watching the parent trap on vhs with my sis and we absolutely loved it. The opening is so touching and loving . The song always got me dancing and singing. I’m planning to add this song at my sisters wedding.
Severus Jake Look, Dick Van Dyke got married in 2012, at age 90, see? Ya just gotta keep an open mind. Hang in there! www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/dick-van-dyke-wife-arlene_us_56a27708e4b0404eb8f1792d
It’s not uncommon to collaborate. And since the movie shares some dialogue with its predecessor, they probably wanted to make sure they gave him credit for what he wrote.
The opening is probably my favorite scene in the entire movie the atmosphere and song make me want to cruise on the QE2. Sadly no longer possible as she has been retired. But do hope to visit her in Dubai!
Mom left dad he didn't want to get a divorce 😢 unfortunately my mother is a money hungry person. I used to watch this movie when I was young and deep down dream of my parents getting back together
It’s a meme going around with this opening (but never reveal the movie) & it said if you can guess what the movie is from the first 4 secs you are a true fan & I guessed it right . Came here to make sure 😂😉
I always picture My girlfriend. Who I hope to be my wife someday soon. And I doing the same exact thing on this exact same moment. But not in 1998 we didn't know each other then. I mean right now.
I never understood why Elizabeth James said that she wasn’t wearing a wedding gown the day when she got married. We can clearly see in this opening scene that she is actually wearing a damn wedding gown. I just don’t get it
Well maybe it wasn't a real wedding gown (for me watch, is more like a casual white dress normal for a elegant party like more casual that a real wedding dress and on that time a wedding dress was like a really puffy dress with a lot of lace (a far aunt mine was really pretty and get married on the 98 with my uncle and her dress was a really puffy with a lot of lace on the arms vail and stuff) maybe for that reason she dont think like the dress she wear was a wedding dress
Why does Nancy Meyers portray the captain’s bridge on Queen Elizabeth 2 as something that would’ve been obsolete even on Lusitania? And why is the ship being steered by a waiter?
Does anyone just love the atmosphere of this movie?
THIS
I THINK THATS THE REASON I¡WHY THE MOVIE IS SO LOVED TOO
It's beautiful, but they should have been friends first before getting married.
I always enjoyed this movie, brings back memories. I might watch it again soon.

I have, lol.
Yep!
It’s Frank Sinatra’s cover.
Actress415 I love that you put this comment and noticed as well
When I was little, this scene gave me unrealistic expectations re: falling in love, lmao.

well i was said I was 24.. but I guess 12 is fine
Anya same lol
Love stories are unique to the individual. This movie is just showing one of them.
Sad but true, most people never fall in love, just get married for fear of being alone.
9-year-old me seeing this movie for the first time definitely did not appreciate just how perfect this opening is. Wow.
I first saw it when I was 5 or 6. And yet I didn’t fully appreciate the movie until I got older. All I initially remember was being drawn by the VHS cover along with Blue’s Clues Birthday. So I know how you feel
When I was little I use to just dream of having a moment like this ☺️.
Ashley Parsons me too! This is my favorite movie of all time

Going to Dubai to see the QE2 is just too expensive, *cries in spanish*
When I was little, I didn’t watch this movie a lot. I guess I wasn’t used to movies running over 2 hours. But I appreciate the Parent Trap even more as a young adult and who’s lucky to live with both mom and dad
I still do tbh
The best movie opening I have ever seen. I still feel butterflies every time I watch!
i just realised how messed up it actually is that each parent gave up one of their children
It's the worst thing parents can do!
When I was a kid, I didn't think much of it. Now as an adult planning to have children, holy shit. I know this is a story, and I suppose I can only imagine this as a doing this in real life. However, human beings have surprised me before....

I miss great movie is so excitement about when the folks got back to together
The mom looks like Princess Diana. This song sounds like something Frank Sinatra would sing. I like it.
I think Frank Sinatra sang this once
"I got on my very first 747, and you never came after me." "I didn't know that you wanted me to." So it was all just a big misunderstanding?
They were really young when they married so make sence a lot of bad choices happen, was a big misunderstanding and both were really proud and stubborn people, the problem was they mix their dauthers there. Separating the girls was wrong though.
That's what happens when people get married too quickly.
Should've poked her on fb
The movie came out in 1998, so FB didn't exist yet!
everything in this video is swet and lovely even the way captian moves the wheel
I wish I could rewatch this movie again for the first time 😔
I was 5 when it came out and I was drawn to the movie based on the VHS cover making me curious. So I know how you feel

The cinematography!
This is so romantic! Aaaahhhh
it took an hour finding this song but it was so worth it
If the opening scene of Quick Change is on here, it's there too.
Good news! That ship in the opening, the QE2, is now a museum in Dubai!😄
Pierre Francois and the interiors are the RMS Queen Mary, a museum ship in Long Beach, California.
I want to cry so romantic 💕
Absolutely excellent opening scene !
Just so everyone knows that song is called L-O-V-E by Nate King Cole
Natalie Cole sings it best:

i LOVE that song... pun intended
@@alexandracarrrion6961 It Will Play "Good Morning Life" By Dean Martin!!!!
I'm surprised his daughter, Natalie didn't make this song a duet, like she did with "Unforgettable!"
This, Nemo and Monsters Inc. got me into Jazz and I'm forever grateful for Disney
Love the opening of this movie!
Me, too!
Netflix took this movie off and now I’m really mad because of how much I love this movie, and this is the only movie entry ever to not make me mad...
You'll get it on Disney plus now.
Also on Amazon Prime

Have you found one yet...I haven’t found the right guy.
Very beautiful opening
2:40
This is gonna sound trippy, but this Parent Trap shares the same writer with the ORIGINAL Parent Trap with Hayley Mills.
It's NOT "trippy!" It's just different time periods, that's all.
It’s not uncommon to collaborate. And since the movie shares some dialogue with its predecessor, they probably wanted to make sure they gave him credit for what he wrote.
Love this song❤️
i love this song to
The QE2 is so beautiful
GalaxyExpress999 and the original Queen Mary’s interiors plus boat deck shots!
Oh I know, QE2 is just so majestic!
I remember seeing this in the theater at a friends birthday party..
I have seen this movie 47 times exactly
Did you see the original version the same number of times?
This song is so amazing and touching to me
It's perfect for the first dance.
I love how the opening credits features a song from Nat King Cole and then the end credits is a song from his daughter Natalie Cole.
Wow 1998 so beautiful, they really don’t make them like this no more
I just want to know what dress she is wearing 😂
A cocktail dress she could dance in.
It's a cocktail dress.
Beautiful 😍🙌🏻
Fun Fact: The ballroom for the opening scene was filmed in the Queen Mary’s Salon.
This song was also used in the beginning credits for "That Old Feeling" 1997. weird two movies would use it so close together
Natasha was just the epitome of beauty 🤧❤️
The perfect commercial for a romantic getaway with Cunard
This was a very beautiful opening scene, but I don't recommend getting married for at least 6 months to a year!
I’ll take your word for it

I don't know why but I'm always catched by all this kind of butler style of this scene.
Both Nick and Elizabeth came from wealthy families, so they could afford it.
My wedding aesthetic
